Ok, I have a 93 Mustang with single stage paint. It was beautiful before I had to drive it thru a salty road after a winter storm. This is my show car and never goes out in the snow normally. That being said I decided to do something I never do... wash the salt off with a touch less car wash... Big Mistake. It took all the shine off my car and stained it was soap stains that I can’t wash off. I took it over to my buddy who is no professional with a buffer we used I believe the green foam pad and some Groits polish. It worked great on one fender. After watching and doing this I will be purchasing my own orbital polisher and continuing with polishing the paint. I’ve had numerous people tell me to take it to a professional for this... but like I said it worked really well and seemed pretty easy to do without using any pressure and continuing to move the buffer. What pad would u think I should use? Continue with the foam pad?? I felt fairly confident it using it or go to the microfiber ? Thanks for any input.
He spent 8 minutes saying the same thing over and over. Did not explain actual differences or except for stating one is foam and one is microfiber......
And I'm still using the old wool pads on my Sioux buffer that I've had since the 60's.Depends on the headlight lens, to how I'll polish it out. I've used 400 grit wet, then 600 grit, then 1200 grit wet sanded. Have used base coat polish and also Meguiare's polish and if it's to bad I go to partsgeek buy new.
I typically use one pad for each step of the polishing process. If you're applying proper, even, pressure the pad should get you through the entire car. The only thing I've noticed is, as you get close to finishing the pads do tend to get gunked up with too much product. "Less is more"!
For HS clearcoats hard clear which is better foam is little less cutting and not able to remove sandpaper marks will a microfiber will remove the marks
How many Hexlogic Pads do I need to do a entire car? I have the one of orange, white and black but I don't know how much I can use one pad before switching to a clean one.
Video was too long. Halfway through it, I got hungry so I left it playing and went to the kitchen to fix my self a sandwich. But then I found out that I'm out of mayonnaise so I went to a store. There, I saw the most beautiful woman I have ever seen in my whole life. But I'm really a shy person so I took up a three-year personality development course so I can introduce my self. She was very friendly and all, but unfortunately, she has a boyfriend. So I said, all good, I'm a mature person. I want the best for her and I harbor no illusion that I am the best person for her and she seems happy with her boyfriend, so I did not bother her anymore. But we kept in touch and we became friends and I got over my crush on her. Then she broke up with her boyfriend, we drank some alcohol because of it, I told her she'll be fine and I wished her well. I still think she's the most beautiful woman in the world, but like I said, I am over my crush on her. It was like five years already when I first saw her. Besides, I am quiet happy with the friendship I developed with her. It was more important than a crush. So we kept hanging out, drinking, having coffee, and all. I had a girlfriend, she started dating other guys. My girlfriend wants to live some other life without me in it, so I said, okay, I want the best for you and I want you to pursue your happiness. My lady friend and I drank alcohol about it, and she gave me the same advice I gave her when she was in that position and I became okay with the breakup immediately. But we were really drunk, so she spent the night in my apartment. I only have one bed, so you know what that means: She took the bed and I slept on the couch. But on the couch, I really can't sleep. Something was bothering me. So I tossed and turned for about three hours, then I finally can't take it anymore, I stood up and went straight to my room where she's sleeping. I approached the bed, gently sat on it and I reached for her shoulder to pull her closer to me. She stirred and woke up. She asked what's up. I told her, you know, the first time I saw you, I was watching a video and left it playing to get my self a sandwich then went to the store to get some mayo then I got distracted by life that I forgot to finish the video. She said, you know what, I've been wondering about a weird noise in your night drawer. So we opened that drawer, and lo and behold, there's my phone and this video still has two minutes of play time on it.
Would foam pads be safe to use on a Subaru? Could I get away with foam as long as I use a lighter polish and pad? or are the foam pads to harsh no matter what pad and polish combo I use?
Yes, you're actually supposed to use a pad slightly larger than your backing plate so you have a little pad overhang protecting your paint from the edge of the backing plate. So yes, you would use a 6.5" pad with a 6 " backing plate.
First, designate a "test" area on your paint. Start with a fine grit compound with a fine grit cutting foam pad. This will remove defects. If it does not remove all of the defects desired, move to an area close to your "test" area on the paint. Bump up to a heavier grit compound with a heavier grit pad if desired. Repeat this process until your resurface an area on your paint to the desired finish. (to be continued)
He is mad, i am mad. The type of my mad is different from his type of mad ,sometimes his mad is better than mine and vice-versa but both ,his mad and my mad give very good results on different types of mad.
I made it to around 5 minutes and then slowly my head nodded as he went on and on...luckily there were many comments that caught my eye as my head was rolling forward. This stopped my head from crashing into my desktop. There should be a warning "Will cause drowsiness, disorientation and possible head butts with desk!"
So I have Hyundai Genesis for 6 years, and I never polish it. Couple scratches here couple there. What would you recommended? foam or microfiber? and which colors? thanks for help guys
Hi there, not sure what you're asking because you can use both to ensure a great wash. If the scratches are minor and you don't feel the need to polish, we suggest you try one of our Glazes to mask the minor scratches and swirls so that it appears flawless. Follow the link to check some of them out. www.chemicalguys.com/Glazes_Auto_Detailing_Paint_Reconditioning_s/4.htm
The difference between microfiber and foam is that one is made out of foam, and one is made out of microfiber. Glad I wasted eight minutes to learn that.
Then go over the entire car with the combination desired. Then move down gradually with finer pad and compound combos. Does this help? If not and you want to know more, simply personal message me.
still very confusing. It seems that both are good depending on how hard the paint is and you have to try them both before deciding. And the the sponge comes in different colors. great 7.48 minutes to get to that conclusion... exhausting to watch
Hey great videos I think I've watched them all twice lol but I've got a 2007 dodge ram white with terrible swirl marks and was looking to do a one step polish do you think the v36 with the orange pad would do? Thanks!!
You could but it would have to be some seriously tough paint to use it on, also since you would be using the two together, they would generate allot of heat. It's best to use them with a dual action, more balancing there between pad and machine.
The best pad is the ones they sell. Not a single straightforward answer. Marketing hype! Paint type, age and condition are the key factors in choosing. Then brand of pads. Thanks for helping to confuse us. 😂
Where can I find the hex logic 6" pad since I have a 6" PC 7424XP Variable-Speed Polisher with a 6" plate? It seems all the hex logic pads I can find are 6.5" size. Thus, can I use a 6.5" pad on a 6" plate? Thanks for this video.
Hi Zenon, good question. Every car is different and there is no way of knowing what kind of paint your car without actually testing it. Start off with V36 and an orange pad, and then go from there. Click the link below to get step-by-step instructions on how to test spot your paint and determine the combination of product and pad that is best for your car. Gaaaaaaaaawwwwwwddddd. I will never get that 7 hours back that I wasted on this video. I am really interested in the difference between foam and microfiber pads. Didn’t find it here.
I have a 2005 Lexus IS300 Dark Grey,And I'm not sure which pad I should be using? If I look at the paint out in the sun its glittery & the bonnet has light swirls marks with minor scratches around the car. I was planning to polish the car with microfibre pad & then wax it with foam pad is that a good idea?
