Thank you brudda!! I had to key fobs soaked in water and you helped me saved a whole bunch of money on car insurance.. 🤣 jk. This method did actually worked tho. ✊️
I had my keyless Ford intelligent FOB in my pants and took it out and laid it on the deck only to have 3 inches of rain fall that night. I tried to start it but no results from car (do not initially try this )so I opened the FOB up and saw minute droplets of water thru out the inside of the FOB. I placed rice from a sealed container of rice into a Tupperware container placed electronic part of FOB inside and clicked on top. I opened the container after 36 hours (rice removes moisture) and cleaned contacts with 70% Iso Alcohol and the contacts to battery were particularly dirty. I replaced with new battery snapped in place the electronic side and remotely started the car.
I have a 2015 Chevy Silverado and the front rubber of the key fob is all ripped up and the alarm button in particular is exposed. I left my keys in my pocket the other day at work and I got all sweaty... (construction) so at the end of the day, I push the button to unlock my truck but nothing happened. I figured the fob got wet and started going off but since my truck was so far away, it wasn’t in range but it still drained the battery. So I go and buy a new battery, install it, and the truck’s alarm automatically goes off and I couldn’t get it to stop. It finally stopped after taking the new battery out again. Will the rubbing alcohol fix this problem?
Sometimes it will but once the rubber button protector shield breaks it exposes the circuit board to humidity.. I recommend clean it with alcohol and buy a new shell on ebay.com
Andrico Darden I opened it up and just cleaned the circuit board with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip and that seemed to do the trick for me. Hope it helps!
I put mine through the wash. Ive done it before and usually if I just dry it out it works. This time it didn't and I've cleaned it with alcohol but it just doesn't work. Any other ideas to get it working?
My dad accidentally put it in washing machine ,and now light on the fob is always on and it keep locking and unlocking the car when we put the battery ,does rubbing alcohol work for this too 🤔
I don't know if you still read the comments on this video... But what do I do if I drop a smart TV remote in water...I mean so far I took the back off then put the whole remote in rice I left the batteries in to, my father fell asleep on the chair and he put the remote on the side arm of the chair and he kicked it off into the little bowl that we have our turtle in, while he was sleeping and it must have been in there from probably 4:00 or 3 in the morning I'm not sure, I woke up like 10 a.m... is there anyway you can help me out though
@@MYKEYSAUTOMOTIVE okay thank you...What should I do when I take it apart clean with alcohol, or do you want me to take it apart and then put all the separate pieces in the rice
@@MYKEYSAUTOMOTIVE okay I took the whole thing apart, I wiped it down a little bit and I put it back in the rice...Sorry if I bothered you and I'm leaving too much messages, it's just that it's my brother's remote and if he finds out he's going to kill me 😬
I dropped my keys on the public bathroom floor. Because of covid I panicked and washed my keys with soap and water. Now my theft alarm is going off and car won’t start. I do not know what to do 🤯
This is a quick temporary fixx!! Meanwhile you can save enough money to get a new one!! Just in case you get locked out your car and key doesnt work on the door
I accidentally ran mine through the laundry and my partner found it in the dryer. They then proceeded to try all the buttons. Is it done for? Would this be worth trying?
@@skc1003 they actually sell another cleaner spray at autozone for electric parts.. thats should work too.. its in a red can .. i just wouldnt recommend using wd40 its really oily and nasty
