Got to say, in DCS my kills come from jumping people to about 80%, dogfighting is often futile. And I love the Anton.

You said it! Spend some time, just learning the aircraft you're in. I can't tell you how many times I've watched videos of people, who are flying 'okay,' but when the pressure's on, they suddenly don't know what to do. I watch them searching the cockpit for some sort of clue. But the bullets coming the fuselage are the best clue you'll get, that you're doing something wrong! And another thing I've noticed, just watching a couple of your videos. You keep the comm chatter down to a minimum. I see squads suddenly in the mix and the radios become clogged with every idle comment, curse, banter they have to offer. And that's bad, when someone's trying to give or get vital information... These flight sims are getting pretty good. Really have some great graphics, a small dash of realism. But many of the people in them have never had military training, or maybe they did, but forgot it all. Comms discipline is vital for a squad to stay on top of the game.

These videos are great. Im so glad I stumbled upon your channel. I used to play flight sims about 15 yrs ago. Kids and left got me away from them. I am going to dust off my old gear and get back into it. I want to learn to fly like you!

Just to add to the discussion about WW2 in DCS, if you are interested then give it a go. Phil has some great videos/tutorials on his channel. Pick up the Normandy map, Assets pack and your favourite bird in a sale and dive in. There are some fantastic campaign for some of the birds and more coming, and the multiplayer base is growing. The last 2 months I've spent most of my time flying on the Storm of War that Phil and a small team run and have had an absolute blast. The learning curve can be steep if you are new less so than the modern jets, and in SoW you'll find a great community on Discord to get any help you need. I generally fly on the Axis side (Burrito) if you see me on the server. I also have IL2 but rarely play it because I simply prefer DCS - I won't make comment on how good or bad IL2 is as doing so without giving the game the time to form an informed opinion would just make me appear like an ass.

Kurt Tank had excellent ideas. And the 190 proofed him right. That i find funny: while American test pilots didn't like the 190 (mainly because of the automated engine control), British test pilots liked it. The same story with the STG-44. They didn't like it, until 20 years later with the encounter of the AK and the adoption of the M16.

Very Impressive...This was really intense and enjoyable to watch...u literally blasted the Spits with no room or time to spare..one of the best action sequences I've seen in DCS or IL-2 with Warbirds...Well Done & one of the best, most intense air to air combat sequences I've seen from anyone...I am referring to just a 2-minute span as well... Anycase, I literally found myself leaning closer to my monitor when you couldn't initially locate Steve only to gain visual seemingly soon as he was hit...realizing he was in a world of trouble... I viewed the specific engagements a handful of times...slowing down the video each time until I was viewing frame by frame...was shocked @ several things ...the biggest shock was u didn't blast Steve out of the sky as well...both of you did really well with not only flying but communicating, listening and trusting... I guess would help to give the few minutes I am referring too... beginning around 12:45... During that specific engagement after Steve was hit & being chased by 2 Spits..seemed each was well within their deflection window attempting to finish Steve off..with you being so high perhaps they didn't notice or it didn't think u had the time or angle to save ur comrade...It was obvious if "Steve" would have maintained heading and altitude for another second or 2 & if you would have missed or not have knocked the Spits out of their flight path or the fight, literally, I'm not sure Steve survives....Especially with you having to descend quickly as possible leaving you one chance to make the shots...and so fast I'm shocked the Spits didn't call out for the other to break or do an evasive maneuver which not think at ur AOA & speed u would have much option other than blast past and go into the vertical again...just surprised they didn't attempt to cause you to over-shoot/fly past leaving Steve little chance of doing much other than pushing daisies...As I rewatched those intense moments I noticed Steve breaking off soon as he recognized you firing on the Spit...Which brings me to my questions: 1) How did Steve know to break left or right just slightly after you fired your burst? 2) More curious why did you have Steve turn right on the heading you instructed with the 2nd engagement as it seemed was turning into you vs away from you...due to the Spits superior ability to turn it appeared you were going to overshoot initially or not make the turn on the 2nd Spit..but of course, you knew exactly what you were doing as it lined up..but at first it seemed if he would have broken to the left would have made it easier for you...just curious 3) With you barreling down on both the Spits who were all over Steve, the distance looked extremely close..close enough to where your shots could have hit Steve...I guess not much of an option there...but when u have a train like that..with your wingman being shot at from his 6 position & you rapidly descending on the enemy's 6 ...does Steve just pray he doesn't get tagged by friendly/you...the 2nd engagement u counted down and he broke off left rather abruptly after ur countdown..but when I was viewing frame by frame your shots were buzzing Steve until he cleared... 4) The last one, especially with the 1st engagement but also the 2nd to a lesser degree, you were coming down really fast...I didn't notice if u dropped flaps & pulled back on the throttle to slow yourself down... at least some...seems doing such would really place you in a compromised position & even impacted ur shots...especially if another Spit happened to jump into the mix... Just random thoughts by me..no need to answer really... just thought I would share what my old few brain cells were processing as I viewed...I am about to watch the remainder of the video now. Take Care!

The A 8 version was not made for fighting air superiourity. Due to it,s heavy weaponry, 2 30mm cannon 2 20mm cannon and 2 13mm machineguns in it,s nose plus adder armour plates around the cockpit nosecone and wing she was simply to cumbersome. She was designed to shoot down 4 engined bombers, the so called Sturmgeschwader attacking from behind. Covered by lichter armed more nimble Me 109,s to protect them against Allied fighterplanes.

Thanks Phil...enjoyed this. I still think ED should re-visit the "break" modelling of the gear. I think it is too bouncy and fragile. If you have trouble with it, we are all neck deep! Hours of flying her and I can count "land and park" on one hand.

It's not so bad, you didn't see it in the video but I was waaaaay too fast on my approach and should have gone around. I slammed it down because I was cocky. If it had been tarmac, I suspect more than the gear would have been bent. :)

@@johnporten8303 If your monitor has any kind of "high contrast" or "over-drive" mode, I suggest enabling it. That will help with spotting and ID'ing aircraft. Identifying types is a matter of practice though... the more you see airplanes, the more you get used to how they fly and you start to tell them apart from each other even if you cannot see their shape so well.

These Werger are from Jagdgeschwader 2 Richthofen the stylish budgie's on the motoraum are a give away, So my guess these are FW 190 A5 or A6's. I would say going by this video that you have made good excellent use of organisation of your attack's by radio communication's and just to think that a lot of the early war generation of the old hare's Jagdflieger, thought that the idea of having radio's installed into the jagdwaffen, was a stupid and un-nessasary waste of money, and weight etc,etc.....they just thought that they had no purpose or value for fighter tactic's. And still felt this way until the Battle of Britain proved otherwise and the worst offender's of this attitude was those that fought in the Spanish Condor Legion. When radio transmitter's were still rather undeveloped, poor and unreliable in the German Luftwaffe.
