The reason I watch your videos and subscribe to your channel is you sir are real. I appreciate that you are knowledgeable but not a technical expert. Videos of people trying to impress me with their high level of expertise and what have you are so boring. You, on the other hand and no offense implied, are a normal guy who loves his car and tells us his experiences. I find it refreshing, and it is what drove me to buy an ST over the GTI and WRX. Thank you.
I did this the day I bought the car. I used your video as a guide. Due to the car being new and the TX heat the badge came off super easy! Your channel has inspired my mods on my ST. I have never had a car before that was worth mods and now I believe Ive opened pandoras box!
Just picked up my ST yesterday and love it ,just got the base model in white and removing my Focus badge real soon, was looking at the WRX and the GTI but never test drove either one.Came across your channel and hunted down a 2018,test drove it and loved the clutch and the way it drove.Your channel is great, keep it up...
I know this is an older video but it popped up at the top of my feed today randomly. Inspired me to finally remove my stock ST emblems and install my Octane Academy ones:) Always enjoy the videos, keep it up!
I was just thinking about doing this to my month old 2017. Looks great. You've should look into the mountune short shifter as your next upgrade. Put one in a few weeks back and it feels so much better to flick into gear rather than the full rowing action of the stock shift mechanism.
hey man new follower and new ST owner. your channel has been a huge help and answered tons of my questions from your videos and you seem like a chill dude. if you ever in metro detroit HMU. keep it up!!!
Thanks Jeebs, living in a small apartment complex i can't use and extension cord or heat gun and buffer to do this. I can do this anywhere. Great ideas here. Thanks buddy.
rgbgfive - thanks for this. I don't see where you used the simoniz clay lub - maybe I watched too fast. I see the WD-40 for dissolving the sticky stuff...but where/when do you apply the clay lub? Thanks. Just got a 2017 ST2. Putting FRPP exhaust on next week.
My badges came unglued and fortunately didn’t fall off while driving. They left a sticky residue that was a pain to remove so after a lot of elbow grease I got the adhesive off and although there is a bit of outline left, I’m leaving them off! Rubbing alcohol helps too. 👍
What about the ST emblem on the rear of the car? Do you know if that can come off because they sell overlays but i found a ST badge itself in a different color.
RGBGFIVE that sucks man, because it was a blast! Ford should be quicker about sending out the invite letter though honestly. I didn't get mine in the mail until at least a month after I had already registered. If you ever get a chance to go or are even willing to shell out the cash to do it, I'd highly recommend it!
I'm wondering why you didn't use WD-40 to remove the leftover residue? If WD-40 was capable to loosen the initial adhesive, why can't it be used to remove the leftover?
+Saman Arasteh it was no more than 10 minutes until it came off. Also I suggest goo gone and wd-40 to get rid of the remaining "focus" outline on the car
RGBGFIVE thanks for the reply man. Can I also ask what is your opinion on the new 2018 mk7.5 golf r? I really wanted the focus st but now the golf is grabbing my attention and I love the sleeper look of it
+Saman Arasteh I love the golf R. I almost got one of those but it was taking months for them to come into az and they wouldn't move on price. GTi is fine but I think the ST is a better value for your money
Hey man, I just wanted to ask for an update on your MPG. I asked you what you were getting(not what the car says) before I had been through break-in mileage to see if it would get better for my 2016. I'm not at 14,000 miles and the car says that I'm getting 27-28 mpg when all highway and driving conservatively with 93 octane. However, I am only getting 23-25 mpg when calculating is out at the pump. This is over the course of 30 to 40 fill up's. I brought it to my service department and they processed to argue with me and my wife, for an hour, that I'm "not calculating the remaining fuel in the tank." 😒 What are your thoughts on this and should I contact Ford directly? Many thanks!
I don't see the need to contact ford lol. The computers are Known to not be exact. And there is always fuel in the tank that isn't accounted for. If it was 10+mpg variance then there might be an issue.
Simsy473 I hate when people say that there is still fuel in the tank... that has nothing to do with the calculation of what was used. At the end of the day, doing 100% highway for a fuel tank during a road trip, 60 MPH set in the cruise control, the car said 31, I calculated 27. For my normal 45 minutes of driving to work, 95% highway, the car says 27-28, I calculated 22-25. It. Is. Broken.😡
Again, they're known for not being able exact. Also 60 is not optimal highway speed for best mileage. Closer to 65-67mph. Since you're doing arithmetic on paper and all...need to be drive it at optjmate speeds. Also, that is the reason for the shift lights. For optimal mileage.
Simsy473 You can say all of that, but over the time that I had the car and the 60+ fill-ups, it never got anything close to the advertised MPG. That was at 60, 65, 70, 75, and 80 MPH highway trips, as I live in Texas. There was something wrong and the dealerships refused to give a crap or honor the warranty. I'm not saying all ST's don't get the MPG advertised, I'm saying mine didn't. Traded it in, so lesson learned.. not buying another Ford or new car.
It may be just me but I'm not letting a 2mpg discrepancy between calculated and what the car is reading at ruin my life. Ford, as along with GM, Toyota, Chrysler and every other manufacturer pump out hundreds of thousands of car every year. There's going to be issues. But cheers.
I was thinking of getting rid of mine too but I like on there I'm just going to remove it and paint it black so I'll look like 10 times better and then put it back on.
in the street racing world, you remove the badges to make it look stealth, not to make people think it could be a more expensive car lol who cares what they think, it looks dope with no badges!
I’m surprised you have no door dings considering you live at an apartment complex. The only two door dings my ST has suffered were caused by my fiancee, in my own f-ing driveway!!!
The dealership aka stealership wants to make a quick sale or commission check, most could give a hoot about your vehicle. There's a few good ones left but they're becoming rare.
A Bentley...lol yeah let's role with that. I'm taking off my Focus emblem and sending it off to be hydro-dipped in carbon fiber. A cheap mod but it'll go so nicely with my build on my 2018 FoST.
I wasn't saying it was deemed to be a bad car, I watched your videos, subscribed and hear you mention the car a lot. So I figured I'd let you know theres an in depth review of the car.
RGBGFIVE I live out in the East Valley I know how hot it was trust me LOL I'm glad you did it the morning but it was still hot that's why I said something cuz I was laughing I'd like a heat gun you don't need one in Arizona LOL
Dude that's way to much work, I have a 2014 Fiesta ST and I removed mine in 3 minutes, use a hot hair dryer and get it hot, then just use fishing filament string and rub it back-and-forth and it just comes right off.
