Mark is an awesome presenter, which makes a big difference in the watchability of a video. He's to the point and doesn't joke around too much and is an all-around likable guy. And this series of videos is PRICELESS! I've spent hours watching these videos and have learned many new things. Sometimes, even watching the basics can teach or refresh. Not talking about this video, but the models with the fake boobs were a bit too much. The kids in the Trick or Treat video were hilarious!

@RLJSlick The video is about focusing not which camera is fastest or the fps setting of each cameras. I'm simply trying to teach a principle about focusing modes.

Great video Mark! You're lucid, funny and very informative. The flash auto-assist feature was new to me. Thank you and Adorama for all the great (and free!) teaching!

ATTENTION EVERYONE! well to anyone debating the 7d and 5d mk II issue. well to settle things i tweeted him. and he confirmed that he used the 7D during the focus modes. and for the diopter example he used the 5D mk II

@Scrolex As far as the white finish large L-series telephoto lenses goes: Canon has two reasons: one is white reflects heat, which keeps the lens cooler thereby maintaining lens group alignment even during extended shoots, and the second reason is marketing: even across a large stadium, arena, concert venue, or airfield, you KNOW a photographer is shooting Canon. So now you know two very practical reasons Canon chose white for their large L-series telephoto lenses.

@cat325ccr If your camera can use viewfinder accessories (and almost all DSLRs can), you can purchase a diopter lens for the viewfinder. It goes between the viewfinder and the rubber eyepiece. They come in different strengths, like eyeglasses, for nearsighted or farsighted/presbyopic vision. If you don't have a large camera store nearby so you can try them, an optician or optometrist can help you determine what strength you need.

On my T3i, I can not see the viewfinder, its so blurry and I have tried adjusting it back when I got it (May 2011) and again, my eyes are just not good. Does anyone know anything to help me?

I'm sure he did, but the 7D has two continuous drive modes! So when set on continuous high speed mode it shoots at 8fps, higher than the max 6fps on the Nikon D7000. Mark is great, but don't mess with us Canon boys!! LOL

...grabbed my 7D w/ 70-200 set on servo mode, hi-quality RAW and did some test shots...my drive sounds faster than Mark's...i guess he needs to have his 7D serviced by Canon. he he he.

Question why do people use camaras with glasses on. You have a lens on an slr far better than any glasses.
@gordontarpley
@gordontarpley 13 лет назад
The 7D drive speed wasn't on it's fastest setting. Mine blasts through shots really quick with perfect focus when I do this test, even at 5.6.

Do HSM / AF-S / in-lens focusing work MUCH better / faster than screw-driven AF lenses?

Nice video indeed but the part about 7D being slow is not true at all. 7D has two continuous modes. One is 8 fps other is 3 fps and 3 fps mode is used in this video. Kind of unfair to one of the fastest APS-C cameras out there.
@dakineseechelle
@dakineseechelle 12 лет назад
@kimvette.... I have the 7D and I was surprised that he said that it was slower. No way!!!! I know that he does favor Nikon's.... I was wondering the exact same about the lying or that he doesn't know the Canon 7D. I love his videos so I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Are these modes needed even in manual mode,mr mark?
@IsmaelMartinezPR
@IsmaelMartinezPR 12 лет назад
The Canon 7D is actually faster, however the settings and ISO have to be there for it or perform. It soured as it is slower than the Rebel which is certainly not.

Why is the Canon 7D so slow???? It should get a rate from 8 frames a second.?
@selimthedream
@selimthedream 10 лет назад
He's just being unfair to Canon 7D and using a 3fps mode and calling it slow =/
@kimvette1
@kimvette1 12 лет назад
@scrolex The 7D shoots at 8FPS (8.5 under ideal conditions) in high speed burst mode. He is either shooting in slow mode, or on a 5D (a portrait/landscape body). Mark is either biased and lying, or doesn't know his product. In either case he ought to re-edit this video, adding in an introduction clarifying his egregious error.

"Notice this camera is a little slower, it's going click, click, click, click" Either he is lying and has it on slow burst mode, or doesn't know the product he sells has two burst modes. The 7D is actually 33% faster than the D7000 in continuous shooting; the 7D has an 8fps burst mode (it's actually 8.5 FPS under ideal conditions) and the D7000 does only ;) 6fps. He either set 7D to slow, or intentionally turned on high ISO NR, ALO, and HTP all which TFM warns slows burst mode.
