I always start my Slavers Series in the Wild Coast because the Pomarj isn't really somewhere I like to start an adventure.....although its a great place for characters to meet their doom. lol

I always thought the Wild Coast was an ideal "By This Axe I Rule!" place, and by that I mean when PC's get to name level open to carving out their own fiefdoms by taking territory from mercenary bands, brigand chiefs, or pirate lords.

I’m actually running a campaign comprised of 6 players, mostly 5e players, and we’re going through B2, Keep on the Borderlands. Since I wanted to be near all this goodness I put B2 on the northern part of the Wild Coast. Thanks for the video, great channel.

It is an attractive piece of real estate for beginning dm's: it's isolated from the rest of the big politics. No major op civilisations or villains nearby. Still a bit unsettles with points of light.

I've probably started or run a dozen campaigns out of it and each can be different. Some were as simple as fighting against the Pomarj, others expeditions into Celene, forest campaigns, smugglers into Dyvers, a river-based campaign, or just jumping off points for the Bright Desert, ocean campaigns, etc. The only thing I've found about it is that it's kind of generic -- missing the built-in flavor of various other places which invoke real-world images of the Norse, Persia, Mongolia, Italy, or ruined empires. It's not exactly pirate central, so it takes an interesting plot/characters to make it a bit less bland.

I used to like basing out of the village of Hommlet and branching out to the Wild Coast and other places for adventure. Securing and rebuilding the moat house was a series of adventures in itself!

GG - the Wild Coast and Pom Marj are the most “Greyhawk” of adventuring areas for me. Although I have not run my campaigns in Greyhawk, adventures like the Slaver series have always been a personal favorite. Great video highlighting the intrigue of the area.

At my table's Flanaess, the Wild Coast is still mostly human, but the second greatest culture are "civilized orcs." Picture an orcish and half-orcish culture (incorporating many a human and the rare half-elf) that has developed a HRE Renaissance style to it. What were several generations ago tribes with warparties have become clans and guilds whose elite mercenaries are strongly inspired by the landsknechts. The best are gaudily dressed elite soldiers who are well-trained with large weapons, as skillful as they are terrifying to see across the field. And the BEST of these are also well-read and tactically trained. It is an era of swashbuckling orcs who are set against their more traditional cousins from the Pomarj or other regions when opposing forces hire one against the other. The civilized orcish culture reveres Ilneval ... but that is another story.

The area around Greyhawk City is like a complete campaign setting. There are ghostly hills, a metropolis, the Gnarley and Wild coast, and even a desert nearby. This is really all you need, and I guess this is where it al started.

I placed my PCs hometown as Hochoch, North of Keoland in Gran March. Started investigating the weirdness in Orlane (N1). Then, to the confluence of Javan and Realstream rivers, where I placed Portown and the Ruined Tower of Zenopus and Beneath the Ruined Wizard’s Tower… to try to break up a human and “Magic powder “ trafficking… now they’re crossing the confluence to rescue some fellow Hochochians (including a love interest)… what’s there?? .. B2- The Caves of Chaos, The outpost for the drug-slave-trade and the mining operation of the raw drug element (huge credit to Professor Dungeon Master for his inspiration on that ) … if they make it through that, it’ll be onto The Wild Coast to chase the slaver nemesis… good times, great oldies.

I always felt a little "bummed out" for lack of a better phrase that half of the Wild Coast got overrun by orcs and the other half ended up getting annexed by Greyhawk City, given the rollicking, free-wheeling nature of this region. Freeing the Wild Coast from both masters would indeed make for a great campaign, though I figure Turrosh Mak and his unwashed hordes would be the real threat. I wonder if some clever players could contrive machinations to pit the orcs' fury and numbers against the impressive resources that the powers-that-be in Greyhawk City could bring to bear, and fool them into crushing each other to the point where neither group sees any further profit in holding onto the region? Would love to hear other folks weigh in on that.

@@hectorforth2671 It would be nice to do. Honestly, my paladin is so powerful in our campaign he killed Iuz, & destroyed his soul object. I'll just say it was by the rules and wasn't a straight on entry attack. Iuz is never coming back. I don't have stats for the Earth Dragon except those in the Slavers Campaign books. We are actually doing Alter Reality Campaigns, because we already converted the Campaign to St. Cuthbert, St. Carmichael, & their ilk. We are trying to improve the result. When I told the DM how I was doing it he couldn't think a way to prevent it. Grey Hawker since 1979 here.

Help me Greyhawk Grognard; you're my only hope! (And everyone else, too!) *WWPD?* (What Would Pelor Do?) In my current campaign the PCs are using Monte Cook's Abyss-sailing-Spelljammer "Demonwing" to catalogue the CE Layers and fight Demons and such. It's kinda an Abyss Sandbox where the PCs can go adventure throughout The Abyss, driving the game in the direction they so choose. Right now they're in the middle of a Abraxas-Graz'zt-Lolth-Orcus thing but, when they finish with that stuff their idea is like, "Hey, why don't we find a Layer of The Abyss without a Demon-Lord, conquer it for ourselves, and then open Gates for Hosts and Legions of Good-Guys to use to fight Demons in The Abyss." I of course have no problem with this at all as their ruthless DM but am wondering what Pelor would say to their plan! So I'm asking you for your take on this. Suppose Pelor and Tritherion and Rao and St Cuthbert (etc) -- as well as Lathander, and certainly Sarenrae and Iomedae -- learn of some High-Level Good-Guy PCs conquering a Layer of The Abyss so they can use it as a base of operations, or a Front, from which to continue a war against Demons. What would Pelor Do?! (Ultimately, this is kinda like the published Layer Androlynne, and somewhat Twelvetrees, but it's all PC driven, not canon.) Anyway, I'd love to hear everyone's opinion on how Pelor (and Tritherion and Rao and St Cuthbert and Lathander and Sarenrae and Iomedae,....) might react! THANKS! (in advance). P.S.: One of the PCs in my game is a Facebook Friend of yours!

Being a Greater God, Pelor would stay out of the affairs of mortals, for the most part. Such beings are aloof and act through their mortal servants and devotees.
