I don’t have my complete garden in yet, and just kind of gave up on what I had😢. I’m in Chandler. Thanks for your short on not removing sun damage on citrus until fall, I needed to hear that!

I just gave up and started over this week. Days on end of 100°+ killed everything that was doing well in spring. Even the zucchini refused to put out female flowers. I’m starting over with the hot weather stuff.

I had no idea about tilling! I live in East Mesa. It has been a lot of work to keep my plants alive in this heat. I found I really need to step up the watering even for established desert trees and shrubs. I have a lot of burnt leaves but I think everything is going to make it because I stepped up my watering and I changed to deep soak. Everything, even in pots, get deep soaked. It has made a difference.Plus I have three roses in pots. I had to move them to under a tree that gets dappled sun. It saved them

I learned the hard way about micro-climate. I regularly watch the weather (temperature) during the winter months and discovered in my yard I can get frost when the official temperature is in the upper 30s and even low 40s. Now I cover things preemptively just to be safe.

Another great video! I am also in the Phoenix area. So I refer all the time to the low desert planting calendar that I bought from your website. It's wonderful, and I've recommended it to others as well. No more guessing as to what to plant when. I also plan to show this video and your August planting video to my little gardening group when we meet in August.

Adjust for the frost dates, you may be able to plant longer into the summer as well, depending on how hot you get.

Question.. Do all of your raised beds have a watering grid system? And have you ever had any issues with them? I'm considering purchasing a couple. Just having a bit of uneasiness with the cost.
@GrowingInTheGarden
@GrowingInTheGarden 11 месяцев назад
Yes, I've added them to all my beds. They've been maintenance free until this year the oldest ones (4+ years old) had some holes clog. I used a push pin to unclog the holes where needed. Overall I highly recommend them.

I have so many bugs in my yard. I have horned tobacco caterpillars, spider mites (I think), moths, ants, plus the bunny’s so annoying. I am having to water every day because of the heat and still my cucumbers died

Pests are challenging. Cucumbers don't like the extreme heat. It's been a tough summer for sure.

Please talk much much slower! You words are all running together and way to fast and I can't hear or understand or hear what you're saying. I'm trying to grasp concepts, which means I need to hear it slowly, digest it and understand it for myself to know what to do. Thank you.

Gotcha - There is a speed tab in the settings menu - You can adjust that to a slower speed and even pause if needed. I also get comments saying that I talk way to slow, so they can use that button to speed things up. Hope that helps!

Glad to finally find somebody in the Arizona area that’s raising vegetables. I just started two months ago growing my own plants from seed indoors and actually put some tomatoes outside a month ago in our 115° heat but it shaded and a water three times a day. They are now 2 feet tall. I have a unique water in the system that I picked up from the University of Utah with half inch PVC pipe with holes drilled it and 1/16 inch every 6 to 8 inches. It’s a no glue system since the pressure is relieved by all the holes been using it for several years works great. Has valves to shut off when you need to do a bed. I’m getting ready to start broccoli and brussels sprouts from seed do you know when I should start those questions? Thanks for all your information great garden.
