Hey guys, For the Block mod, I'll be ordering them off your site, but I'm in NZ so sadly can't have them fitted by you. My question, is it possible to get the head off without removing the cams? looking at doing Block mod, New Head Gasket and bolts while i'm in there but really don't like the idea of removing the Cams.

Im afraid head removal without removing the cams is not possible - the cam cover holds the cams in place and this must be removed to gain access to the cylinder head bolts

Hey guys, quick question is this possible with out taking the engine out of the car? Is there any tips that you could give if doing so while engine is in car?

Yes it is. Engine is out in this video just for a timelapse demo. Tip: if it's your first time get some large snaplock bags and put everything you remove into them and label them. Will make it less of a puzzle when you put back together

Tools are to ensure rocker cover stays flat and even whilst bolts are removed. (The rocker cover is what holds the camshafts in place) It is recommended to have some to replace the camshafts to ensure that the rocker cover pushes down evenly on the cams when you refit it. You will also need the camshaft locking tools and the crank locking pin to install camshafts.

OEM Denied Performance Thanks for the information. Do you know a tools list for replacing two camschafts ? Is it possible to do it while the engine is still in the car ?

rocker cover holding tools, cam locking tool and crank lock pin. Call your local tool shop and the should have a listing for the i5 Volvo engine. You can leave engine in the car to replace camshafts

Hi, do you know how much cost stock liner set. Do you have part number or something
@OEMDeniedPerformance
@OEMDeniedPerformance 3 года назад
stock liners are part of the engine block itself so cant be bought on their own. Aftermarket ones however can be bought from Darton. Part number 800-550

hello, i was wondering if you can help. my focus st has developed a problem which seems to look like as my cylinder wall has cracked. when the car is started from cold it has an immediate missfire and a small puff of white smoke, both oil and coolant are dropping and the car seems to be a bit down on power. also I've noticed oil is being blown out of the filler cap. I've had the coolant sniff tested and the test showed that there are high levels of hydrocarbon. the problem is I'd get the same symptoms and test results if it was the head gasket wouldn't i? is there any way to see whether it's the cylinder liner or the head gasket or is it a case of taking the head off to find the answer? any help would be much appreciated. thanks

Hi again, just a quick question maybe you can help me out. Do you know if the st and rs have same pistons. I’ve bought a set of camschafts at catcams. They say that these profiles are the most aggresive you can run on std pistons. But if the st hasn’t the same piston they wouldnt fit
@OEMDeniedPerformance
@OEMDeniedPerformance 6 лет назад
RS runs different rods & pistons to ST. RS has lower CR ratio of 8.5:1 V 9:1

Hi , I have a Focus ST 2.5L Turbo (B5254T3) . I am looking for bearing clearances for Big End and Main Bearings, as well as torque specs for these bearings. Are you able to assist or direct me to where i could find these.

So which oil do you recommend btw?
@OEMDeniedPerformance
@OEMDeniedPerformance 5 лет назад
Castrol Edge 0W40 A3/B4 as per Fords requirements. Oil spec was 5W30 on earlier models then revised to 0W40 for later ones and the RS mk2. RS Mk3 also takes the same oil but totally different engine

Can one remove cylinder head without removing cam covers and camschaffts?
@stevethedonful
@stevethedonful 6 лет назад
kalbi777 Did you watch the video? If you did, you will see that he removed the cam carrier to access the headbolt. So the best way to access the head bolts would be to drill holes through the cam carrier in the right place to expose the head bolts. Good luck.. let me know how you get on. Just joking, don’t do this. But do watch the video again, your question is answered.

Hi how common is a cracked liner on these engines. Is this somthing that will end up happening to them all? I was thinking of buying an xr5 turbo 2nd hand but i get alot of dodgy vibes from their owners. I have even been told by 2 people that their liners cracked running the car stock. What do you think?
@jessiebrown8843
@jessiebrown8843 6 лет назад
Tania Nguyen Unless you mod it past its limit, yes for sure it will crack. Otherwise further than that is is really a great car. I would advise taking 5 minutes of your time every morning to check you water and oil levels. It's just good maintenance. I do it every single morning and If I didnt do It I would have ended up buying another engine. My Liners cracked. Also, if that ever happens, spend the extra money and Put forged internals in, trust me in the end its worth all the money.

Hi, i have this type of engine and i don; t know how to set the camshafts in right position to obtain a perfect timming......can you help me please with a few details ? Thank you very much.....
@OEMDeniedPerformance
@OEMDeniedPerformance 8 лет назад
Hello, Because the engine is a 5 cylinder there is pretty much always a valve starting to open with the camshafts at any position so you need to lock both camshafts and crank with the Ford/Volvo locking tool. Do not attempt to do the job without them. On the gearbox end of the cylinder head there are 2 camshaft trigger wheels bolted to the camshafts, these need to be removed and the locking tool fits in place of them. Behind the starter motor on the block there is a blanking bung with a torx head on it. This needs to be removed and the crank pin slots into there. Lock the crank & cams up, then fit the end section of the plastic engine cover and the VVT pulleys. There is a small notch in the pulleys and on the top engine cover, these need to be lined up then tightened to the camshafts. Fit the timing belt, idler and tensioner and tension according to tensioner setup (there is an auto and a manaul version). Once you think you have it all timed up correctly, remove all locking tools and turn the engine over by hand 2 revolutions, then attempt to refit the locking tools and check the pulleys line up with their reference marks. If the locking tools do not slot in easily or the reference marks do not line up.... start again and repeat process. If you need some more help send the workshop a message over facebook (search OEM Denied Performance) & we can send you illustrated instructions.
