It’s so nice to see Neon White get some form of recognition. Aside from Dunkey’s review on it, I don’t feel like the game ever got the attention it deserved.
Neon white truly deserved that win, it's message about how hard life life is for people who have big boobs really was impressive, it's one of the only games to truly make me cry from deep within my heart, it's a goddamn masterpiece. I cannot for neon white 2, hopefully they'll talk about the struggles of people with big dicks, even if that would be a bit less relatable to most people. (Im obviously joking calm down the game is good)
The dialogue is cringe but at a certain point it kinda became charming to me? Like a old RU-vid video that you know isn’t very high quality but you can tell the people making it has fun. It’s not good, but holy fuck the gameplay absolutely is
@@brycecartwright2403 The dialogue in the last half of the game just also basically removes all the cringe and the plot gets pretty good. Nothing groundbreaking, but still good.
@@brycecartwright2403 I used to hate a dialogue, but now, I find it very funny to me and very nostalgic to me for some reason. It reminded me of the old games like huniepop (pls don't ask how) and just had a blast reading them.
I'm glad foekoe covered lil gator game in this video, it was such a cute game that had me crying by the end of it. Heres to another great year for videos game
Ultrakill will be everyone's top 1 once it finally releases, every youtuber is just holding out until it does because we don't have it as a full experience yet
I'm so happy you enjoyed it, I always wonder why I didn't feel botw anymore. And just like other open world games there's so much empty space, but little Gator game is filled with so much creativity and npcs to talk to. You never feel bored exploring

This year was just great for gaming for me. My highlights beeing Outer wilds (Yes I only started playing it this year and I regret not playing it sooner) and Tunic. Both games filled me with so much joy and are in my top 5 games of all time. This year I already can look forward to Nine Sols.
hey foekoe, I've been playing this game for a while and I think you'd like it. not sure if you've heard of it, but its called Noita. its a rougelike where you explore a secret filled world and get stronger by experimenting with your wand, placing different spells in different slots to get some pretty broken combos. for me, its special because there arent any permenant upgrades apart from how much you know about the game. so a lot of the hurdles you have to climb are acheived by thinking outside the box, trying to tap into the full potential of each spell. another big thing is the secrets. its got tons of elaborate secrets and they can be pretty fun to try and solve. the only problem with the secrets is that they can be really really cryptic, like to the point of being misleading, so its pretty difficult to enjoy the game's full potential spoiler free. i would watch Albino's video on it if youre interested, personally I think its 100% worth a buy, even without all the secrets. it does require a time investment to really enjoy it, as it can be a bit bullshit/rage inducing. but a good way to get a head start is with mods, as there are some that teach you about the games mechanics, such as spell lab. there are also others that introduce some more powerful spells, allowing you to get to the mid game faster. i think it'd be nice to get a review, but you dont have to, review what ya want.
I saw it in the collage of FPS games near the end. I'm curious on your extended thoughts with Hyper Demon? It has nowhere near enough content to justify a place on this list, but for the leaderboard grinders such as myself it scratches an itch.
I also loved neon white, I’m not usually motivated to speedrun games unless there’s some achievement for it but I found myself grinding levels to improve my time, I eventually got to top 20 in one level after hours of attempts and it felt so satisfying. My favorite levels were the ones with the dominion rocket launcher, they were an absolute joy to blitz through. Kinda hated speedrunning the book of life ones though lol
Sonic Team spent 4 years working on Sonic Frontiers and had to fight for an extra year to polish the game. They had to work overtime just to make is as good as possible. (They should've made the pinball mini game easier and made the parry timed but still)
@@thehydrationman5500 The game definitely isn't terrible though. But it needed more to do, and stuff like the pop-ins were a problem. Nothing to hinder gameplay, because the gameplay itself was solid (not the combat), but still. Frontiers is what I hope to be a solid start to a new formula.
@@texrot9781 smh at this point Sonics community makes better projects and games than Sega does. If the size is a problem then all they need to do is hire their most talented fans.
Neon White was such a genuinely nice surprise. I went into it thinking I was gonna drop it at some point due to it being to hard or weird to understand. However, I ended up really enjoying the game and beat it to completion. I plan on going back in soon and getting all the achievements as well. The gameplay was fun and not overly difficult and the design and characters were amazing to me. If you haven't already played Neon White I absolutely think you should as it is one of my favorite games now even though I just recently started playing it.
Thank you for mentioning lunistice! Fucking criminally underrated, for the price and considering how much fun I had playing it’s a perfect in-between game you can pop on when you don’t want to get started on some bigger thing in your backlog and just have some quick bites of enjoyment
you should definitely check out the spark the electric jester series sometime, its just a perfection of the sonic formula, one of my favorite games of all time
i had the idea for a third person skating shooter just today only to have my hopes shattered because i find out that already exists thanks to this. thanks, bug man!
Same thing, I wanted to make a Craig of the Creek style game till Little Gator Game came out, I happy cause it's everything I wanted for my idea. We'll come up with more ideas in the future that haven't been done yet
I have to personally have to thank you for introducing me to Linistice, this is truly a 3D platformer I immensely enjoy. And it's only $5, and if you want to play this I HIGHLY recommend you turn off smooth turning and you'll see why
i discovered neon white thanks to a yakko cmn video and man i felt in love with it from the gameplay to the dialouge which, to be fair, i agree that, as many people say, is kinda cringe, but is a type of cringe that i really like so i don't care. So, as you can expect, seeing it as your number 1, was kinda poggers ngl.
ULTRAKILL is definitely my personal no. 1 of this year. (I'm looking forward to P - 2 & act III) all of the games on this list are amazing, they also make my brain feel good.
You should review grounded, it's a awesome survival game that had its full release in September 2022. The whole premise is that your are the size of a ant in a backyard and you have to build and fend off bugs. It's very fun, plz review if you have the chance.
You should play La-Mulana and La-Mulana 2, they're really hard, obscure puzzles/riddles centered metroidvanias, both requiring a lot of yourself to beat, you need to pay attention to every detail and information you get. The way of progressing kind of reminds me of Outer Wilds in the sense of that, the main way of doing so is by trying to interpret what it is trying to communicate to you and overall your general knowledge of the game. There is some upgrades that you need to get in order to progress, but the main way is to pay attention to every piece of information you get. The first game is a 2012 remake of a 2005 game, so the controls and the platforming can be unforgiving, but i think that the sequel is a much more enjoyable experience for newcomers.
if you like cute games i would STRONGLY recommend Wuppo Definitive Edition in wuppo you play as a little white ball called a Wum. You live in the stotopap hotel and get kicked out because you spill ice cream everywhere and don't have a job. You follow through the game meeting a bunch of different people and races. Its a goofy game with tons of cute characters and if you want an idea of how goofy it is the 4 races are the wums, the splenkhakkers, the blussers, and the fnakkers. Anyways great video and I would strongly reccomend wuppo.
I was kinda of expecting Prodeus to be in the list, but I guess you haven't played it yet. It's seriously so freaking good! I'll never get sick of Doom like boomer shooters if they keep coming as good as they have been recently
Maybe Prodeus good but the art feels so unattractive for me. Depends on person i guess. But let me tell you about Selaco. It's in the demo state but feels more enjoying to me and to the by the way it's very similar to Prodeus
@@aperture6751 I like how Prodeus uses animated sprites instead of models, it reminds me of the og Doom, but like you said not everybody might be a fan of it.
If you are looking for a good rougelike, look no further than Patch Quest, my favorite rouglike. It came out fairly recently, so a good time to cover it!
Ninja Turtles Shredder's Revenge was a very fun title of this year, possibly the Best Beat Em' Up of the year, the soundtrack, art style and level design is SWEET
Hello Neightbor 2 solos out of them, but outside of that, I didn't knew there was a Tony Hawk + Shooter game since that one video on Twitter years ago. Cool!
