Lonesome Dave, the singer/guitarist, was ridiculously talented. There were so many great singers who could also play guitar back then. I should add, Rod Price was doing the slide guitar. He was unreal. These guys helped fuel FM radio back in the day.
Foghat was derived from the band "Savoy Brown" from England. They were more of a Blues/Rock band in the late 60's early 70's. They changed their name to Foghat and had about 12-15 great Rock songs in the early and mid 70's! They rocked!!!
So good to see Foghat getting more love from the reationverse. This was one of my favorite bands back in the day. Rod Price was the guitarist, “Lonesome” Dave Peverett the vocalist. Real head banging arena rock, it's been one of my biggest regrets that I didn't see them live back in my 70's/80's concert going days. You are right this is a real road song, get in your vehicle, turn it up and fly. They have so many more great songs, I love Honey Hush, Midnight Madness, Live Now Pay Later and they have such a great sense of humor in their songs such as Somebody's Been Sleeping in My Bed and Boogie Motel. Such a fantastically entertaining band.

Yeah, Foghat! They will rock your World my dear, next by them try I Just Want to Make Love to You, another great song. They always brought their A Game when I saw them, great stuff. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎶

The song may have been out since the mid-1970's, and it still rocks. Close to 50 years old, and they still put it in the recent Top Gun: Maverick soundtrack.

I was in high school in the mid 70's , drove a 68 camaro rs and cranked foghat : Live on 8-track. those were the days. and yes , this song is all about doing the horizontal bop.
This song is definitely about love Making. Back in the 70's "Slow Ride" was not about cruisin' in your car. It was about the "Cow Girl" starting out slow ridin' then building... I'm sure you get it! 😉
If you ever watch the movie "Dazed and Confused", it is the last song they include in the soundtrack. Gotta check out "Stranglehold" by Ted Nugent (The Motor City Madman).
Great reaction! This came out in '75 my junior year of high school. I remember riding down the road in my '65 Cyclone with their 8-track in and firing up the Kracos. Another song to check out is the live version of "Come Again" by Damn Yankees. They were considered a super group with Tommy Shaw from Styx, Jack Blades from Night Ranger, Ted Nugent, and drummer Michael Cartellone who would later play for Lynyrd Skynyrd.
I saw them do this in concert when the album was first released. Incredible show. Incredible band. LOL. You figured out this song!!! One of my all-time favorite rock bands.
OMG, Angela..This song's been used in soooo many ads including: Dodge Trucks, MIller Beer, Harley Davidson, etc. As for me, I saw foghat live in Dec, 80-- We got busted by the cops being rowdy after the show, wound up doing 60 days for disturbing the peace and reisisting arrest--And I'd do it again for the show Foghat gave us that night!!
Rod Price was the guitarist. He was a really great slide guitar player, underrated. He was great on this one. This was a gleefully naughty song, we all loved it back in the day.
Your metaphoric interpretation of the song was spot-on (and intentional from the band). Love this song. Great reaction! This whole album was fire (Fool For the City, 1975). The title track ("Fool For the City"), "Terraplane Blues," "Save Your Loving (For Me)" are all worthy of your reaction time.
The guitarist and the singer are one and the same. And the name is lonesome Dave Pevrett. I used to love some Foghat still do but don't listen to them as much anymore. They got a string of good ones.
