I was coincidentally watching a 70% spitfire with a live (adult) pilot on board -at the controls. Brings home the relatively small size of the triplane.
Delightful. Lots of work gone into this, GREAT... Maybe for starting, use a car starter motor But use onto the HUB OF PROP, no added weight to the plane, only needed for first start up, easy to pack away. The rotation may need to be worked on, but can be overcome. I have started small older motors with a setup as described, used a old oil pump to change the rotation, ... Again thanks for video of a Fantastic project..
I LOVE Fokkers! I was really into Snoopy when I was a kid, which of course led me to the Red Baron. I've been thinking that it would be possible to build one, full-size but taking advantage of the advances in materials science over the past 100+ years. You'd save a lot of weight while retaining all of that fabulous lift capability. (More than enough to install a starter!) Keep on flyin'!
There are dangers to swapping materials. The original planes were designed using specific types of wood and wires in precise places, to distribute the stresses of flying just so. As many modern replica-makers have discovered, changing the materials (carbon-fiber spar instead of birch, etc.) may significantly change how the plane handles, or even make it less safe to fly. Making modern replicas is very cool, but make sure you do the due diligence to ensure the plane is still safe to fly.
Two words....electric starter. Beautiful job building and pretty good job flying. Like the original it was most dangerous to it's pilot on take offs and landings. And like the original it could turn on a dime. Thanks for sharing it with us.
beautiful, thumb up from me. It reminds me of the guys who fly gas planes at our rc club - they seem to spend more time trying to get their engines started than they do flying! Most of us fly electric / battery planes now. The tri-planes look top heavy and seem to be in danger of cliping wings when they land.
Only 13 comments in 6 years? This aircraft is INSANE(LY) FANTASTIC. I could just watch them start it for days. I don't even need to see if fly :O) My palms are sweating just listening to it. That engine is pure unprotected XƎS. Very COoL gentleman. Very COoL. You RoCk. Had to jump in and say this. Now back to the show... (I'm scared, somebody hold me:) -----> I opened my eyes and it's S.T.U.N.N.I.N.G!!!!! Pilot: YOU ARE THE AERO WHISPERER
Tres belle réalisation tres réaliste en vol le bruit , la vitesse .... Très beaux renversements A l,'atterrissage il a l'air compliqué .....!! à cause du train Très étroit.....! Chapeau au pilote magnifique
The full scale plane lift of at about 60-70km/h. This one due to being scaled should lift of at about 40-50. Considering the pretty solid head wind, they are maybe only doing half that. And that engine sound pretty powerfull
What a gorgeous airplane. I would make one suggestion. That plane has so much lift it doesn't need the wing between the wheels. It would be faster and more fun to fly if you removed it.
You can skip the first 2 minutes to avoid all the prop-flipping. It's a fantastic model, and it sounds so good, I was just waiting for the point where it shoots down a Tiger Moth!
Prop in wrong location for flipping. And in these days and age. Surely a mechanicical starter would have lessened the risk to the operator! Nice plane glad no one got hurt operating it.
Impressive takeoffs. I was estimating that that plane was taking off in fewer than 100 feet. The minor ground loop on that last landing was unfortunate. I hope that there was no major damage done to the plane.
A really fantastic 'plane, well done, just a couple of comments. For heaven sake adjust the prop so that you pull it downwards to start or there's going to be a nasty accident. It should be painted using mat paint.
I noticed in this video. The one guy stuck his hand in there and adjusted something. And then got away from that prop and let the other guy do it. In other words, it's not safe, not at all.
Странно, почему сразу было не сделать аппарат в натуральную величину? К чему такая огромная модель, когда совсем не много не хватает, чтобы полететь самому?
Can you imagine a plane from that era going up against something we have now. Only mabe a hundred years. Now our state of the art going up against something that's been around say a thousand years 😢😢😢 7:36
My very first R/C was a single channel push button....27mh in a glider. Right turn Clyde. CB truckers on same band and I'd get jambed in a turn if it interfered.
65%? Is that the scale? Beautiful model. Very impressive short take-off. I think it rolled less than 50 feet and was already airborne. The second take off it rolled a little bit further.
