I just did a small sample test on the AA question. If everyone behind you is going all in on the first hand, then they would also all have high premium hands. So delt 8 handed 20 times with all premium hands and the AA in that position only held 2 times and both were a chop. Probably need a bigger sample size but that gives me enough info to fold and wait for a better situation.

It's most likely a call but also this situation can't ever happen so who cares thinking about it is just a waste

Pocket Aces = All in. There is no better "spot" than pocket Aces pre flop. What are you even talking about.

@@jackcollins7061 I know it's stupid to even think about because it wouldn't ever happen. But play it out. I just had surgery and got home from the hospital so I am bored sitting here at home recovering for a few weeks. So I decided to waste time playing out this stupid scenario. Did another 20 hands and AAs still only held up 20% and half of those were chops (which would be great 8 or 9 handed). All the pros say not to take unnecessary risks on the first couple days of the main and this scenario is the first hand of the first day of the main.... I'm obviously really bored. Lol

If we have AA and our 8 opponents have AKs, AKs, KK, QQ, QQ, JJ, JJ, TT, we have a 58% chance to 9x our stack. If they have AA, KK, Kk,QQ,QQ,JJ,JJ and TT we still have a 70% chance of chopping for a 4.5x stack. If there was a crazy scenario where everyone is all in I’m pretty sure all the big pairs will be held by everyone
@Jack-ru5mh
@Jack-ru5mh Месяц назад
And those are the best case scenarios. 1 or 2 suited connectors like 9-10 or 10-J instead might keep Queens in the deck. If I'm one of the first 4 callers, I'm calling. Last to act and the first hand, it's not something worth risking against 6000 others

I'm not a pro, just a seasoned amateur. If you aren't comprehending the situation, 8 people went all in before you. At this time, you have about what, 21-24% of winning? But if everyone has a strong starting hand, chances are no aces are left, and possibly all Kings. At this time id rather have something like 10, Jack suited. JQ suited won't catch a k for a straight. Not to mention a couple Q are likely gone. Another scenario is someone else also has pocket Aces. Now you're best outcome is a chopped pot with the same assumed hands involved. Of course, how many times have you seen 9 people all in during ANY poker hand in any format?
@stevenwilson8718
@stevenwilson8718 Месяц назад
@@Jack-ru5mh I was thinking a chop is the best case scenario which would be nice 9 handed. But it doesn't seem like anyone else if thinking about how none of the premiums hands can really improve because all the cards would be taken. Only a flush or wheel would be available for the Aces. Nothing for KK QQ JJ. Only low cards left in the deck so definitely a ton of outs for whoever is all in with the worst hand in this insane scenario
@raoulduke1450
@raoulduke1450 Месяц назад
@@Jack-ru5mh Mathematically it’s a correct call. You are getting 8:1 on a call and with 20% equity, you only need 4:1 to call profitably. The only argument against calling is scared money.
@Jack-ru5mh
@Jack-ru5mh Месяц назад
@@raoulduke1450Your correct going with the analytics of GTO, but in this specific scenario, is it necessary to risk on the first hand of a 5 day tournament? Chances are your Aces are in another players hand. Hypothetically, if the SB by accident shows only your eyesight pocket A's, will you still call? We both realize this will never happen with the exception of a play money free roll. But it's interesting getting opinions and reasons for this ridiculous situation

In 2006 or 2007 I had a buddy who won a satellite in the 5k main event in New Orleans. I want to say it was $100 satellite. About 15-20 hands in he was UTG with aces he raised, another guy 3 bets pretty large gets shoved on from the cut off. My buddy folded the aces and the 3 better shipped it. 3 better made a four flush with his aces against the cut offs kings who didn’t bust out but was on life support. My buddy ended up cashing but Ivey cracked his aces and knocked him out.

Heads-up, Aces is always a favorite. Four ways, it is more likely that Aces loses rather than wins. At the end of the day, it’s just one pair.

If the whole tables all in your odds of winning aren’t good. You’d already have to assume two of your outs for a set or quads is gone and assume majority of people in there have two live cards to bust you. 9-10 handed whatever it is, pocket aces more then likely get cracked if everyone’s all in

so AA vs a bunch of smaller pocket pairs and you have the same chance of hitting set as the rest of the table and the fact that you're already ahead of all of them makes it a call ?
@Nasdupree9090
@Nasdupree9090 2 месяца назад
Who says anybody’s jamming or calling with smaller pocket pairs? This is just a degenerate question that would never happen because it’s a bingo flip. You’d have to assume 2 others hold an ace, maybe another 2 have a small pocket pair then the other 4 calling with suited connectors or just any two live cards. It’s too degenerate of a flip that would never happen, and I personally wouldn’t want my tourney riding on a 9 man flip preflop

@Jack-ru5mh
@Jack-ru5mh 2 месяца назад
With 8 people already in, knowing your not catching an Ace, or worse, another pocket rockets in play. The ranges of suited connectors K-Q, Q-J have more upside hitting a better hand. Obviously, this isn't something that happens every weekend playing a 100 SNG. Now if this was a cash game or a re buy, I'm all in
@stevenwilson8718
@stevenwilson8718 Месяц назад
@@KhoiNguyen-cx5zf 9 handed, AA wins 1.3% of the time and chops 50%. It would be a nice chop though! The lowest all in hand would be the only one that can improve and all the cards left would be the low ones. And every pro says not to take unnecessary risks on the first couple days of the main and this scenario is the first hand of the first day. And it's basically a flip

folding aa preflop with at least 75% chance of winning is insane. they do know they'll have double the chips if they win right? Good luck doubling more easily than that...Guy who is waiting for set or straight, yeah enjoy losing to the over set or flush buddy! flush draw on flop has better chance of busting your set/straight.

If everyone at the table goes all in behind you in the 1st hand, then you very rarely improve and hold because all the AAs KKs QQs JJs are gonna be taken already. Maybe hit a nut flush but most likely gonna chop or get sucked out.
