That "bouncy" sound (child's toy) is actually a mouth harp/jew's harp, very cool instrument. Moonsorrow play folk metal, and incorporate a lot of flutes, harps and other folky instruments, while playing epic/viking music
I thought most westerners recognized the sound of a mouth harp. I don't know the origin but the sound is reminiscent of the didgeridoo but it's obviously not of Australian origin.
Henri Sorvalli of Moonsorrow described their music like this: Moonsorrow is a movie soundtrack without the movie set in pre-historic scandinavia with squeekey instruments. Or in simpler words, they play pagan metal with old folk instruments from the north

Hey, thanks for the reaction! 😃 Not everyone will love everything, but exploring new stuff is part of the fun and opens you up to the possibility of finding more to love! 🤩 If you get a hankering for more Moonsorrow try anything from the Kivenkantaja (my all time favorite) or Verisäkeet albums, and look up a translation! If you never look back at them again, that's ok too and you'll find more bands to love!
damn, even "folk metal" is a wide range of sounds. My favorite folk metal band is ONMYO-ZA from japan, they are super melodious and so different to this
