It depends on the citizens. If they're stupid and don't care about this, we aren't going anywhere but more corruption. There's nothing wrong with ignoring reality but there are consequences for ignoring it. When the reset happens on the Dinar, Malaysia Ringgit has a chance to be stronger than the Singapore Dollar and potentially the US Dollar itself.

They will use religion to embezzle money or trick the people into doing things for them. And if you are non-muslims, they will gather other muslims to fight against you accusing you of blasphemy against their allah. It happens all the time. Thats why over in Indonesia, even as islamic fundamentalism is worsening, there is little the Government can do. They should have removed blasphemy laws altogether to stop these shameless idiots from abusing it for political mileage in Malaysia. It is very rare for muslims to go after other corrupted muslims. Anwar Ibrahim is a rare find. Thats why over the 6 decades, even as corruption was swirling, nothing was done to stop it. The country goes from weak to frail and now collapsing. All thanks to Islam.

Malaysians are some of the nicest, most genuine people you will ever meet. Yet they have been poorly served by their politicians, who see election as a "gravy train" for their own enrichment. My guess is that approximately 15+% of every Ringgit spent by government is stolen by crooks with influence, has restricted Malayia's growth. This hurts the development of a country that deserves better.

@lauriebarns9901 Those from a country with the highest crime rate in the region cannot be the nicest or most genuine. Let's not pretend that foreigners are not targeted by pickpockets, snatch thieves, car thieves, robbers, thugs or just people who are out to damage the foreign registered vehicles because the foreigners own and drive better cars than the vandals. It's worth noting that unsuspecting foreigners are also the targets of unscrupulous local merchants who will not hesitate to overcharge them.

The fact that one former PM is currently in jail and another is facing multiple criminal charges while the current DPM was facing multiple criminal charges before being granted DNAA, that pretty much sums up the situation. Only in Malaysia can you find a politician who faced not one but 47 criminal charges becoming DPM.

Malaysia has almost all the valuable natural resources in the world but her economy is pathetically weak. Compared to Singapore which tactically has nothing, not even drinking water but S’pore’s economy is light years ahead that of M’sia. When Dr. Mahathir first came to power, RM was almost of equal value to that of $S, but today one RM could hardly buy a glass of ice kosong in S’pore. Isn’t that mind boggling?

What people dont know is that Singaporeans are becoming a second class citizens and all the glories now owned by the rich foreign oligarghs who will supress the people further. For a small flat unit it costs US1.2million. We can see old people at the age of 70 years old still working to earn a living. What kind of life is that. At least in Malaysia those old people can sit comfortably at home and play with their grandchildren. I'd rather live in a country being labelled a third world country than a so called first world country, where lives are just tough.

@angieng1776 I wouldn't dismiss it entirely. Wasn't he sworn in as PM for the second time in the wake of the 1MDB scandal? A similar event is all it takes to change the dynamics. The only obstacle I can think of that may hinder him is his health due to his old age.

What we observe mainly is money siphoned from govt funds by any means available. This is what I had in mind when commenting. This is NOT money offered by other race to Malays. FYI I am a Muslim and I fight all forms of corruption!
