This video is to show how two sets hydraulic steady rest used on CNC slant bed lathe machine. The steady rest clamping and unclamping is controled by M code under hydraulic power, and moving by servo motor driving ball screw.
This kind of design makes sure the positioning accuracy and also more flexiable for different shape work piece. It is wildely used on long narrow shaft shape workpiece, even with different taper and groove.
