The fear of missing out is a common feeling with chronic illness. I made the choice to sit out on a day of fun because I knew I needed rest. I talk about this as I take you along on my day!

Hi, I'm Maggie and I have Crohn's disease. I am thrilled to be here sharing my personal experiences with Inflammatory Bowel Disease as well as living with an ostomy. I'm proud to share a little bit from a clinical experience as well, having worked as a GI pediatric nurse and ostomy telehealth nurse. I am so glad you are here. ♥ #ostomy #ibd #chronicillness

So, you’re still hangin in and thriving. Good for you!! I used many of your video tips and enjoyed your humor. Feb 4th I’ve had a j-pouch for one year. Took me 7-8 months to feel like doing anything and then I just forced myself back to work. Passed my physical and am back playing piano for Royal Caribbean and glad to have paychecks again. Mostly I’m grateful for the crowds. They keep me going. Still adjusting but working out twice daily w running in the am and weights in the eve. I never thought I’d say it but battling UC for over 20 yrs was hell and I should’ve done this sooner. All good from here! I’ll keep watching and try not to fall off the grid again. Good health will help with that!! Wishing you well! Keep up the good work!!

Hey thanks for sharing...I'm 6 months + post having everything from end of small intestine to anal sphincter removed...after 7+ year flare up...absolutely ZERO remission no matter what we threw at the colitis...my issue now is confidence, not just getting out and about but getting there with this bag of $hite attached to my stomach just right of my belly button...without it leaking...so uplifted by your story,I'm so SO bored need to get back to work, socialising =REALITY Best wishes Alex 👉❤️👈

The balance between doing what is best for your health and enjoying life is sooooooooooo accurate! As someone with several health issues (GI issues, migraines, mental health), I completely relate to this topic. I used to have major FOMO which actually deteriorated my mental health more, and lately I give myself grace and sometimes just sit stuff out because my body or mind is not feeling well. It actually helps to take that mental pressure off, and sometimes I really just need that rest. Often actually. As always love how open and honest your videos are. :)

I have a new one for you. FOBAB. Fear of being a burden. I love long walks and hiking, which I have not been able to do. Multiple chronic health issues have kept me down. The days that are spent in bed are called my crash and burn days.

When I wasn't able to continue doing things I used to do with friends, they all left. I haven't seen anyone I would call "friend" in years. It got even more isolating when my mom was dx'd with Alzheimers. Even family stopped coming around or calling.

I almost never go out as,I have ulcerative colitis and have been flaring for over 2 years , I lost my job as I haven't been able to work for 7 months and no idea as to when I can start again,I am waiting to get an ileostomy soon as I have exhausted all the medications ( I know they are bringing new ones out but I've had enough of them now) , I have missed out on a lot of family celebrations as I don't feel up to them , I went to church yesterday to a tea , coffee and cake thing( I only had a cup of tea) for less than an hour and it wiped me out .

I developed ulcerative colitis in October of 2020, at the age of 70. According to the doctor people over 65 don't develop UC. It was severe and involved my entire colon. I was given 3 infusions of Remicade and when that didn't work 2 of infusions of Entiveo neither slowed it down. I live in rural N.D. my doctor set me up to go to the Mayo clinic, but the soonest they could see me was the end of May 2021. By April I was loosing 1 to 2 pounds a day and was barely functioning. I told the doctor we had to do something else. He ask ed if I was willing to go to , 157 miles south to Bismarck, N.D. and I agreed. I saw the surgeon that week and had surgery the next week. The change was amazing. I was once again able to eat, go out to the store, family functions, church, etc. It may take a little while to build back up your strength, but once you do you will be able to do those things you miss and you won't regret getting the surgery. I will keep you in my thoughts and hope that you are soon able to get the surgery.

Here’s a couple things you can try next time you get a headache that aren’t Excedrin Maggie you can try bring some peppermint oil on your temples. A friend of mine swears by that or you can try taking some magnesium tablets that works for me.

I love watching you talk about your experiences. I just find it so interesting and have learned some things. My daughter had a good friend when she was in her 20's . She had Crohn's disease so I just wanted to learn more about what can happen. Unfortunately she lost her battle, mainly because she was not only dealing with the Crohn's, but also a drug and alcohol addiction. I love your channel and your positive attitude .I love that you have a very supportive husband and how very laid back he is! You're such a beautiful strong woman and I look forward to seeing more of your videos! Much love from Ohio ❤️ Oh yes, I love your doggies too !

Also thank you so much for the "FOMO" talk. We are in the middle of deciding to move to Germany, which I would love to do for 2 years-- but on the other hand I'm so afraid of being away from my hospital. I guess we are torn between safety and carpe diem!

Oh, I was thinking about how my plans to travel in Europe were sidelined, too! But I have all Kinds of problems, mostly my own fault. I hope you can go. Maybe if you just plan it very well and are covered for various contingencies and have insurance issues all lined up and in place. Supplies, etc. It will just take more planning. Get doctors' advice, though? Maybe your doc knows resources in Germany! When I traveled through Europe umpteen years ago, German people were always the ones to give us rides no matter what country we were in! Living there for awhile would be great! Well if it's not ssfe to go for a long time, maybe you could just vacation there. If you speak a lot of German it's probably easier. Good luck and God bless, whatever the case.

Yah, when it rains it pours, huh. I have to Google ice hat. Your eyes look really pretty. Lol: granola bar wrappers everywhere?! Great that you're eating. Those should help! I Love the Nature Valley Oats 'n' Honey ones: those are crunchy (more crumbs; won't stick in your teeth). They have a new one with pecans, too! And they also make chewy ones.

Yep. I AM that person... "Wish I could...sorry, I can't, because of my MCAS." So. Much. This. So many times. It does suck to be that person, and I know some of my friends have gotten tired of hearing it. One 'friend' even told me he'd 'unalive' himself if he had my limitations. Gee. Thanks. But it is what it is and I'd rather pull back than go through reactions due to stress/whatever my body has decided is the current enemy. I'd rather have uneventful days than eventful in a very bad way.

It's like this video was just for me today!! I just came back from being out to dinner with friends and family and SO many times I just don't go because it tires me out like you said, I worry about needing the bathroom and people being around to see, etc....Plus people ask, so now you're better? Medication has taken care of it? No, I will always have this disease of UC, etc...I just nod anymore. i know they just don't know but it gets old explaining it doesn't just go away.

Print some pamphlets and hand them out. That's what I've thought of doing regarding other things I have to endlessly explain. Or I just try to avoid people who aren't going to understand. But I'm bad at it.

You have to do what's right for you. It Was "grown up" of you to chill at home. I'm sorry you're sad. Take it easy, good woman. I hope you can be glad for what you have. And yeah, eat something substantial. What did you have? Eggs? Chicken? Whatever: something cooked! Fixing food is a lot of work sometimes. -'- People aren't irritated if you don't come. They probably just miss you. And you miss them. But it is what it is. Everyone needs to take care of themselves sometimes, and if you need to rest then you need to rest. It must feel good to make the right decision and not end up feeling worse. Good work! Sometimes there's no perfect choice. Hang in there. Maybe you can talk to someone if you're really bummed out? Life is good. (Zak reminds me of the Golden Retriever, by the way. You seem more like the Puma.) - Your hair is so long! Mine was long many years ago.. - I hear ya about getting crabby when things seem to be piling on..

Do you go through sleeping problems like sleeping a lot to barely sleeping? I went through a spell last week where I had a hard time staying awake and this week I am only sleeping 3 to 5 hours and my usual 3 hour naps are 30 minutes or not at all. I did get a good nap today. I'm a night person, working years on the night shift at work 12 hr shifts. I am disabled now and I am really struggling to get on a day schedule. My mom says that I'm part vampire, lol. Thanks for being there for us, you are so much more helpful than you realize ❤

Thank you so much for all of the excellent content you bring to us through good and really tough times! I appreciate you so much. Last year I had 2 surgeries- a colectomy and 6 months later a a proctectomy for ulcerative colitis. As you know there are many challenges involved so I hear you loud and clear! A question I've been pondering and have no idea about is: could it be possible that although I keep up very well with my hydration throughout the day I feel like I'm getting dehydrated at night! I more often than not wake up weak and with a slamming headache even though it's not unusual for me to drink the best part of a 750ml of water + electrolytes during my nighttime wake ups. I'm not expecting a reply but I thought it maybe warranted some discussion to see how others found staying hydrated at night. Thanks again Maggie ❤

Are you gardening this year, and do you still have your chickens? Did you finish the renovations on your barn? Do you still have all of your other dogs, I just saw one fur baby in this video and one other. I've been out of touch with RU-vid for a bit, I don't know what the algorithm was doing, but I stopped seeing a lot of my favorite videos rolling through my feed.
