Even more than I was when I first heard of the foo fighters who aren't that popular here in Germany. I only new Dave from drumming in nirvana and couln't believe what I saw! A 45year lead singer....crazy how time runs and people develop
It wasn't that crazy, I was a devastated teen at the time, but it was good to see Dave and Pat at the time, and glad that Pat had stayed around, cos I loved the germs.
Totally agree, anyways, this was only after 1 year Kurt passed away...Foo Fighters were so Nirvana sounding on this one, that's why this is my favorite Foo album!
Although the "Back and forth" documentary reveals that Pat came on board as a legitimate member of the band, which is also why he was there at the 1994 MTV music awards when Dave and Krist took the awards in Kurt's honor. In his diary Kurt mentioned how stoked he was to eventually work with Pat in the studio, too bad that nothing ever came of that.
Never forget when I heard this song, for me I imagine it had the same impact as teen spirit had for a whole generation, I was blown away and I still love listening to this song almost 30 years later
dude pat's back up vocals are so good here, what a shame that you couldn't hear him for most of the song. also does anyone know of any other videos of this song where pat sings back up? all i can find so far are taylor doing it and i'm not as fond of his voice.
I remember the first time seeing them on TV back in the 90s, being so surprised-I'd only known Dave from Nirvana, & had no idea that he could sing & play guitar.
true punk is not being covering in blood and having ripped up clothes and screaming, true punk is doing whatever you feel like doing and not giving a shit what others think, that includes making softer music and not caring to have that "punk" sound
when i was watching dave playing drum in nirvana i would never thought that one day he will be a leader singer....this is one year after nirvana... he's got kurt's style here ...his hair, his closed eyes, his clothes even his vocals everything about him in this video is kurt's
But according to "Back and forth" Pat joined the band as a legit member, not just as a touring guitarist, which is also why he was there at the 1994 MTV VMA's after Kurt's death. It's too bad though that we never found out what Pat could have contributed to the band if they had recorded an album with him.
You got your numbers all screwed up: Krist' first musical endeavor after Kurt Cobain's death was a band called "Sweet 75" with Mexican Singer Iva Las Vegas around the time that "The color and the shape" came out and in the early 2000's his second musical endeavor was Eyes adrift with Curt Kirkwood of the Meatpuppets. It was only in 2006 that Krist joined Flipper. Dave said that asking Krist was the first thing he did because of the musical link the two have but Krist declined.
Whatever you can still listen to the Howard Stern interviews in which Dave clearly says "I never discussed doing music with Krist. (1997 and 2011) those are audios of his actual voice not some written some publication. Sorry you can believe what you want. But the Howard audios don't lie.
Yes he did, it's mentioned in both Krist' book "of grunge and government" and in Dave's book "This is a call". Also prior to starting his career as a politician Krist had a band called "Sweet 75" which according to Dave sounded like "The Byrds gone hardcore"
Nope, according to "Back and forth" and Dave's book "This is a call" Kurt had expressed that he wanted another guitar player there because of the bigger sound that band would be getting, Nirvana had been a four piece, two guitar player band prior and he missed that full sound he got. Pat Joined as a legit forth member of the band.
