Shane’s father was the drummer for the band. He died five months before this performance. Shane stepped in and played in his Dad’s place and that was his Dad’s drum kit. The concert was a tribute to his dad (Taylor Hawkins) and they had many guest drummers and musicians who performed.
It was an outstanding tribute to the late great Taylor Hawkins. God I miss him he was one of my drumming hero's. Actually that isn't Taylor's kit it's Dave Grohl's DW kit. Taylor played Gretsch drums and Shane plays DW. I think at least one of the Gretsch kits used was one of Taylor's. I might be wrong and they were the same drums but not actually owned or played by Taylor. A bit nit picky sorry.
Oh man, such a shame she didn't realize what exactly the kid there was beating those drums for.... I feel like it's all coming from a source of a person who lost a loved one.... every beat is so hard, to vent the frustration, the longing... Though, she did seem to find it good and even got emotional.. I guess the emotion is coming through...
I'm sure you've already been told that the kid is the son of their drummer Taylor Hawkins that just died not too long ago. Dave Grohl, the lead singer, was the drummer for Nirvana, but after Kurt Cobain killed himself, he created The Foo Fighters. Dave Grohl is a pretty all around good guy from everything I've ever seen, and him and Taylor Hawkins seemed like very close friends that were always seen together. I'm in pajamas! I'm in pajamas!
This was the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert at Wembley Stadium in London, with a capacity crowd of 90,000. I was there - Dave really didn't need to tell us to sing along. I don't think there was a dry eye in the house after this. Also, did you catch him kiss his Dad's drums before the solo at the end?
I noticed the kiss. To say it brought a tear to my eye would be a lie, I was already crying many hours beforehand. Also that isn't Taylor's drum kit it's Dave's drum kit. Taylor played Gretsch drums and Shane plays DW. The sentiment stays the same, God I miss Taylor.
The Foo Fighters are one of my all-time favorite bands, when Taylor Hawkins passed away I was heartbroken not only did the world lose a great drummer but we also lost a great human being, this was the first time since his passing on March 26 2022 that I've been able to watch a Foo Fighters video, and I'm not ashamed to admit I cried through the entire video, partly with sadness and partly with joy to see his son onstage honoring his fathers memory, Thank You for reacting to this video.
My wife and I watched this tribute concert to Taylor live and we were a mess. It was beautiful and also hit us in the feels BIG time! RIP Taylor and Shane you are AMAZING!
This was such a great reaction. The back story is quite long, so let me attempt to condense. Foo Fighters were formed by Dave Grohl (singer) after Kurt Cobain of Nirvana passed. Dave was the drummer of that band. That alone should give you an inkling of the fan base the Foo Fighters have. Still, in the nearly 30 years that the FF have been around, it really is their talent and music that has led them to have a massive following. Drummers, starting with Dave himself are kind of a centerpoint in this band. Shane's father, Taylor Hawkins, was not just a fantastic drummer for the Foos, but he drummed for lots of others and was pretty respected and beloved in the industry. He passed last March. Obviously, in a band of badass drumming legends, Shane has been taught well and is carrying the torch. This show was incredible and left me a bawling mess with this song, as well as Eddie Van Halen's son coming out and completely channeling his father! That's another performance worth watching, but you may want to listen to the original version of Hot For Teacher first for context. Dave Grohl also has a 12 year old girl play drums with him sometimes and speaking of badass, holy cow, check out Nandi Bushell.
I will never not choke up during the first "There goes my hero" chorus. Every time. And while the Foos have announced festival dates later this year...but not the "new drummer" yet, nothing will replace the chemistry between Taylor and Dave. Ever.
You just discovered Foo Fighters that's an entire world to explore. Dave Grohl and Shane's father Taylor Hawkins had a special connection. Grohl would turn to Taylor several times during live shows and just by looking at each other, they knew exactly what the other was going to do next. Taylor was a great drummer and singer.
One of my all time favorite songs. Was so sad when I heard the news about Taylor's passing. He would be so proud of his son for that amazing performance. RIP Taylor Hawkins. Nice reaction!!!
This was a tribute concert to the Foo Fighters drummer who passed away several months earlier. That's the drummer's son playing on his father's kit. RIP Taylor. On another note, Dave Grohl, the singer and guitarist in this video was the drummer for Nirvana before Kurt Cobain passed. Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters are also probably one of the most humble, down to earth, coolest and chill bands out there. I highly recommend looking into the drum battle that Dave Grohl had with a young, at the time 11-year-old, girl named Nandi Bushell. They had a whole back and forth drum battle online during the height of the pandemic lockdown. Dave even wrote a song for Nandi during their challenges. Once Covid lockdown was over, they actually invited Nandi to a concert and had her play one of their biggest songs, Everlong, with them in front of a massive crowd to thunderous applause and a standing ovation.
Shane Hawkins is the son of Taylor Hawkins. Taylor was the Foo Fighters drummer from its creation but sadly passed away suddenly last year. this entire concert was in tribute to him. Taylor died of heart failure while on tour in south america. there were reports of drug use contributing to his death however i cant find any confirmation of this. he called for medical aide himself and it was not considered self inflicted
Taylor died of a heart attack while on tour in Columbia. Such an amazing man, gone way before his time!!! Playing drums in Heaven now!!!🎶🎼🎵🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🤘🤘🤘💜💜 Its a very emotional performance and your reaction was so very sweet!!!💜💜
Shane is son of Taylor Hawkins, Foo Fighters drummer that passed away earlier in 2022. And in case you do not know, lead singer Dave Grohl was the drummer for Nirvana, so in a span of 30 years, he has gone from a drummer that lost his lead singer to a lead singer that lost his drummer.
Everytime i see and here this it gives me chils ,he plays just like his dad 😢rip Taylor 🙏🤘🏻🖤he played so loud so his dad could hear 👏🏻🥁 amazing proformance the boy playing the drums ,his dad was the drummer of the foo fighters.
He's definitely off to a good start. I assume he's going to need to build up his strength yet to be able to keep that momentum going for a full concert. I agree with the recommendation to do The Pretender. Also check out Best Of You and All My Life.
If you like Foo Fighters you must also see the "epic fight" between Dave Grohl and Nandi Bushell. It's really recommendable! At their concerts they like to take someone from the audience to play a song with them. I know a guy who played drums and another who played guitar ("Kiss guy"), it's also worth watching. *Recommended songs* - All My Life - Best of You - Everlong - Wheels - The Sky Is A Neighborhood - These Days - No Son Of Mine - Waiting On A War
the reason they have a "fatherly protection" is that shane, is part of their family, all the band and their family's are very, very close...the kid is a great drummer...oh and a side note, dave grohl the singer of the foo fighters, played the drums and sang in Nirvanna..and Dave also played all instruments in the recording studio for some albums...very talented guy, they give it their all in concerts..he usually get's a kid up to play guitar and then gives the kid a guitar after they play!!
This concert was made possible by Dave Grohl. It was a tribute for Taylor Hawkins (drummer for Foo Fighters) Notice the "Hawk" lit up in the crowd across from the stage. There were two tribute concerts. First one at Wembley Stadium. Honoring one great drummer who'll be greatly missed!
The Foos are one big family. They took their kids with them during the European summer tours. Shane’s dad was their drummer and died of a heart attack. Some suspect drug overdose, but that was never confirmed and the drugs in his system were a standard pain management protocol. Dave’s mom had died a month or two before this concert and that night was insanely emotional.
I remember when the album this song was on dropped when I was in high school. Still my favorite Foo Fighters album, and one of the best albums of the 90s. Taylor Hawkins quickly became one of my favorite drummers, and it broke my heart when he died last year. I remember watching so many live videos of little Shane being off stage and banging away on practice pads while watching his dad go to work. Watching this definitely gave me a sense of pride and busted me up at the same time. Dave wasn't lying. Shane beats those drums like they owe him money. Funny timing as just yesterday, Drumeo announced this as the Drum Performance of the Year award. My favorite Foo Fighters songs aside from this as it is a favorite: Monkey Wrench, Everlong, Hey Johnny Park, February Stars, Walking After You, Walk, Times Like These, and Best of You. I would mostly suggest Monkey Wrench or Everlong next, because Taylor was just a drumming best on those two as well.
Play guitar player was the drummer for Nirvana and he started a band Foo and the drummer for The Foo fighters just died not that long ago and this is his son I'm sure a hundred people of already said that but just so you know
Foo Fighters have soooo many great songs, to say the least..my son got to see them in Vancouver, Canada, when he was in his teens, i waited outside the open theatre to pick him up and heard the entire concert..it was amazing..too bad my son didn't want to be seen with his mom...i would have rocked it out!!
this is from a tribute show after their drummer taylor hawkins (shanes dad) passed away and if you loved hearing this, check out rockin 1000's cover, which features 1000 musicians which they have another foo fighters cover of everlong to getthe band to do a show in italy which they did before taylor passed
This was an epic performance! So great to see Shane just kill it on his dad's drums! One of the best live videos from Foo Fighter in my opinion was the one where they brought up a fan they called Kiss Guy to play guitar on the song Monkey Wrench.. and he absolutely KILLED it! And you can see Dave Grohl and the band was genuinely having the best time with the kid! You should definitely watch it!
Oh my...I just wish you knew the whole story. This was a tribute concert for his dad...who died 5mos earlier. Love you, and loved your reaction anyway.
This is Terry VonCannon. Shane is the son of Taylor Hawkins who passed around 6 months ago. He was an awesome drummer and probably Dave Grohl's best friend. Dave by the way was the drummer in Nirvana if you didn't know. Very emotional for everyone. You need to check out other Foo songs. Also check out Yoyoka, she is a 13 year drummer who has been voted one of the 500 best in the world. Watch drum cover video of Deep Purple Burn or Speed King. She is utterly amazing!
Shane’s dad Taylor hawkins died 4/5month before This show so it was a Taylor hawkins tribute show. Dave grohl, the Lead Singer was the drummer in Nirvana and formed Foo fighters after curt cubain died
Don't know how you can be emotional if you don't know what is behind it but love it just the same. These guys are awesome. Definitely delve into more Foo Fighters. They've single handedly kept rock and roll alive.
Ok guys I think bisscute even without knowledge of what was really was going on here was perceptive enough to know this was truly something beautiful and special going down. This girl is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. Nothing but respect to you Miss awesome reaction.
I don't know if anybody mentioned it yet, but Shane's dad Taylor Hawkins was one of the most famous rock drummers out there. After concerts he liked to smoke a little weed to calm his nerves and be able to relax. They just finished a concert in Columbia and a local guy got him some weed. Unknown to Taylor it wasn't just weed. it also contained opioids, benzodiazepines, tricyclic antidepressants. The autopsy also showed his heart was double its normal size and that the drugs most likely contributed to his heart collapsing. Sad story for any fan to hear knowing that Taylor had so many years left to make more awesome rock. Thanks for doing this reaction. Your channel rocks Bisscute!
An emotional moment. Shane is Taylor Hawkins´s son, the original band drummer who died in a hotel room in Colombia te last year just before a show in that city. This concert was a tribute to him five months later and the band closed the concert with that song. I can imagine Shane watching and feeling to his father while he played the drum. It should have been a liberaton moment to him PD: Your pijamas are cute. Don´t worry about it...!!!
His dad was Taylor Hawkins, an amazing drummer who has been with the foo fighters since its creation. Sadly Taylor passed away very recently and this was his son's tribute to him
Mostly correct, although Taylor was not the original drummer. Dave (on the first two albums), and William Goldsmith (1995-1997) preceeded Taylor on the drums
That performance brought me to tears when I watched the video. R.I.P. Taylor Hawkins. You could wear a muu muu and I would still know that you are a very beautiful woman.
You had no idea just how much it means (though I'm surprised you kinda sensed it); The kid playing the drums was playing his fathers drums who had died, in a tribute concert. Just hearting he passion behind those hits, all of that energy makes me cry thinking about my father who died 6 years ago from cancer, as ... I can't lie, heh was absolutely MY HERO in every step of the way. I wish I had told him that more.... I hear "There goes my hero" and all I can think of is his face... If I had a song to play drums on to play to his memory... there's no telling just how loud and hard I would have hit those drums to vent all of that energy out....
You have a kind and loving soul!! This reaction from you ranks higher than your Avenged Sevenfold "So far Away" reaction. Keep up the awesome reactions Bisscute!!
You my friend are so beautiful in your empathy... You knew how beautiful this moment was without knowing how beautiful this moment was!!! Thank you for being You... You're gonna love this new journey. Buckle up. Buttercup. #Jukeboxpreacher
doing sleep token. I can't wait. it is a new breed of music. that I love. bad omens ...sun seeker. been waiting for you to get sooo far! just the sound man but you have taught me so much. let's go! and keep rocking the pjays lol!
Shane’s dad taylor was the drummer for the group..but passed away that year..his son is just as bad ass as him. The picture they show in the beginning is Shane with his dad..the original drummer.
This song makes me tear up but for some reason every time I watch you watching a video, the video is too dark to see what you’re watching. It detracts from the enjoyment. 😢
We were due to watch the Foo Fighters in London His Dad Taylor Hawkins Died That's his Hawk logo on the drums The Foo Fighters canclled all concert understandably so Thought I'd never seem them live Then they did this Tribute Concert for his family & mental health It was Epic 6 Hours Gig sat in Wembley Stadium I was worn out watching live had tons of bands Queen & AcDC Amazing loads of step in Drummers the Place went wild when he took the drums 💯 He was fantastic it was emotional to see a Great moment in Music History for me. You should watch the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert really good London was 1st then they did the States Differnt bands etc Foo Fighters Freaking Rock 🤘
David Letterman put in a specific request for the Foo Fighters to play Everlong on his final show referring to them as his favorite band, playing his favorite song on the broadcast.
Dave Grohl (vocalist) was the drummer of Nirvana, after Kurt Cobain death and the end of Nirvana, he formed the band Foo Fighters, but now as vocalist/guitarist. Shane Hawkins is the son of Taylor Hawkins, drummer of Foo Fighters who recently passed away.
Shane is the son of their drummer Taylor Hawkins, who tragically died I think a month or two before this performance. He was with the band for over 20 years, this was a tribute concert for this father. 16 years old playing on his drum kit, with the band, it was simply beautiful. I CRIED, and I’m still crying every time I watch this 🌹 #RIPTAYLORHAWKINS If you watch closely before Shane does a solo at the end, he kisses the snare drum, almost like kissing his father hoping he’s proud of what he did for him, that kid has more strength than anyone could ever have in that moment, HES INCREDIBLE 🤘🏻🔥
This was the Taylor Hawkings Concert Tribute... Rush reunion was here! Metallica play too and many many artists and bands, Paul McCarthy and Brian Johnson from AC/DC etc
Was a tragedy that the drummer Taylor Hawkins took his own life last year(march). This was a tribute concert to Taylor. Was lucky to see foo fighters here in Ireland In 2015. 85 thousand at slane Castle. Rip Taylor. Gone but never forgotten.
Taylor Hawkins was the drummer for the foo fighters sadly he died of an over dose this was 1 of 2 tribute concerts in his honor which also raised money for helping people with mental illness this one was in London UK the second was in LA it featured many Guest drummers and artists who came to pay tribute to Taylor some played songs he liked and others sang foo fighters songs as you know by now Shane was his son and he played at both tribute concerts
This was a surreal experience seeing you react and intuitively sense the emotional aspect of the moment without even knowing the context. If it were anyone else, I might have found it cringey, but I love you, so it wasn't even like that.
