I've got tons of requests for this over the years so heres "My Hero" by the Foo's. Dave Grohl double tracked the drums in the intro and in the verses for this. Myself and Kye had a bit of fun double tracking the intro and then I played the rest of the song similar to what Taylor does live. Let me know your thoughts below. I also have some more killer tracks on the way soon so stay tuned ;) Colm
I didn’t know that it was double tracked. I guess I never thought of that when I tried playing this song. Btw, any tips to help with practicing? I’ve been playing for a few years and have started to take it more seriously these last few months with my band. Pointers would be great! And awesome job as always my man.
@@GustyCheese I second Psycho... or Unsustainable... I think there's some double bass kicks in there. (Edit: never mind, there isn't. But there should be.)
I don't know if you've heard of this band or not, but you check out Killing Joke. Phenomenal band and some really badass drumming. If fact, Dave Grohl played drums on their 2003 self-titled album. Some of his best drum performances in my honest opinion. Also, great cover as always! Keep 'em coming.
Grohl probably agreed to do that as a nice gesture to offer amends for Cobain's (unintentional, maybe) rip-off of the main riff to their song "Eighties" for Nirvana's song "Come As You Are". Killing Joke was supposedly in the process of suing Nirvana when Cobain died, though members from both bands have been somewhat vague on the subject.
@@TestMeatDollSteak Likely true. Either way, he got involved in a brilliant and remarkably underrated album and that's all that matters. Also, its rumored (can't confirm, hence a rumor) Cobain knew what he was doing and intentionally ripped off Eighties. Again, can't confirm. Also, I think it was silly that KJ was about to sue them for that since THEY stolen the riff from a song by the Damned called Life Goes On. Though they apparently deny knowing the song. Who knows.
there goes my drummer hero again, lol. I learn so much from your vids man. The skill and production help me to understand whats going on in the songs and it's helped me considerably. thanks.
I see this and have very sensations about Taylor, he really gave his best performance in every song and tour. Thanks for all Taylor, ever in our minds.
One drummer to another, PROPS. It is NOT easy to play lock step in the pocket the way you do. Especially with (not one, but TWO) tracks of Dave Grohl to compete with. You are a real drummer and have fabulous feel. Keep up the hard work.
This looks like a ton of fun, you get to play around with double tracking! I had a suspicion that it was two drum tracks on the album, but wasn’t sure.
So, Desert Sessions 11 and 12 just came out. If you haven't listen to it, I would recommend it. But if you don't want to listen to all of it, just listen to Cucifire. A great song and definitely one you should cover. Also, love this. You're always smackin the skins just right.
Since you're in Australia, you should cover some local bands. King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard have some great drumming tracks in odd time signatures, although they have two drummers so each part can vary sometimes
