"this is a call to all my past resignation... its bee-REEEIPPP!!" lmao hell yea Dave was feelin that shit couldn't even contain himself thats what I love about him full of energy. This will always be my fav lineup and era. Classic Pat rockin out with no shoes on too.
@@pluggedmountain I strongly believe he still has that ability. He just likes change in his music like every other artist does. Same formula over and over again gets boring for artists
You kids need to understand how Dave recorded this album and started the Foo fighters after Kurt died. He did it all by himself while he was recovering from the death of his best friend. It wasn't easy. The other guys joined later. That's the genius of Dave. Foo Fighters are still the best concert I've been to and I would again and again. Dave and the guys became a legend. I know this is a a woman living in Asia growing up listening to Nirvana 25 years ago.. they're my heros
Damn, this brings back so many great memories. I really miss this original lineup because they were so raw and were such a fresh new band back in 1995. I love Taylor Hawkins on drums now but I have to say that I loved William Goldsmith even more back then, and especially loved to see him play live because he was a beast. Nothing against Taylor Hawkins because he's equally a badass, but just was a special time in music back then and everything was so right with that lineup that Dave Grohl had put together. This song, that whole debut album, was just a pure masterpiece in my opinion. So crazy how FF have morphed into this HUGE arena band, with this massive sound, and to have started with practically a garage sound. Even as awesome, and as polished as their sound is now, nothing beats that debut album even though I know that it was just Dave who created, and recorded, it all but it just has what everything that came after it lacked. Maybe it was because it was new, maybe so raw sounding, I don't know but The Colour And Shape lost it even though they've only gotten bigger and better since then. Sounds stupid, but just hard to explain. 🤔 Lol. 🙂
Hard to believe that this was 20 years ago.I remember it like yesterday.I was working at "Music World" at a mall and I remember when this album came out and talking about it with one of my managers and I really liked it and would play it often in the store. This reminds of that time period which though was a bit different in some ways than now (2015) wasn't all that different than nowadays. Not as drastic as ,say, if you compared 95" to 1975.
... it's quite natural to be nostalgic, and that goes for every generation. The X generation seems to be nostalgic ALSO for the state of nowadays music, which is easy to understand. As you say music may have been evolving form 1975 to 1995, but it's a downfall from 1995 onward ...
@@Tux00 Yes isn't that insane? The years go by so quicky, in 1995 I would never have expected 2023 to be as it is, nor could I have known how fast time would go by, at that time the 2020s seemed like they would be so far in the future that there would be flying cars and fusion energy and tourism to the moon and cures to cancer. At that time I was 18 years old, life seemed like it was just beginning now I'm 46 and will be 47 next month and I can't believe it! I'm at least halfway to the grave! To me this world doesn't seem to have changed all that much, aside from internet, social media, iphones...color me unimpressed,
Will had a real passion at live perfomances and he was playing like Dave played it on the record, but Taylor does his own "oldish" way of playing drums.
no offense to Taylor here but Will is on point here!!!! he gets that much rock sound from a 4 piece drum set and really is into the song big time!!!! i guess Will was not happy with Dave because Dave wanted the drum tracks played a certain way and Dave did not tell him he re recorded all the drum tracks by himself and Will got pissed at him because he felt that Dave did not give him a chance to showcase his chops behind the drums.
I know that feel. It's difficult watching Foo Fighters on this period and not think about Kurt. Dave recorded most of those songs in Nirvana's period, so Nirvana's influence on this first record is so big.
asdfgd Back when that first album came out people were going "What the hell is he doing releasing music that sounds like Nirvana?" Thank God he did and that he kept at it all those years.
Dave was just really starting to do the grunge style singing around this time. If you listen to his demos before Foo Fighters, he sang lightly. His voice just wasn't developed yet for that kind of singing. Still sounds good though
Me encantaba dave en esa epoca cuando venia del duelo con la muerte de kurt cobrain y empezaba a reinventarse y a formar foo fighters, lo encontraba tan mino 😍😍😍
I personally wish he stayed in the band ....If that happened sdre may not have re-united and put out how it feels to be something on and rising tide which are great albums i am happy they did but i still wish William was ripping it up with them ..mendell and goldsmith always had a great bond and compliment each other
Interesting setup. Usually, at least during this era, Pat would be on the left side and Nate would be on the right. I'm guessing it's because this is in a TV studio and not a regular stage
i dont agree .... by this time goldsmith had been touring with sunny day real estate for 3 or 4 years or so i think William is fantastic live ...dave is a perfectionist and wanted to write and record all of the drum tracks ... William wanted more creative input ... dave wanted him to stay and tour but William decided to leave .

We might be talking about different things and there might have happened a misunderstanding, i'm talking not only about Dave's singing but about the whole band timing, they are playing awfully doing basic mistakes that guys like them shouldn't such as timing. But i believe he's talking about "more like this" in their energy and way of playing, not music.
+James Kaznica I'm sorry but you are wrong. In this concert the drummer was William Goldsmith, but in 1997 Taylor Hawkins joined the band and he is one of the best rock drummers ever.
Huuum, it's not my opinion, William made a lot of mistakes in live, and wasn't good enough for the recording sessions.. He's still a good drummer, but Taylor is way way waaay better than him...
