Omg stop saying chips,,,, and they are not called French friize,,,They are called French Fries as in I'm gonna FRY an egg in the pan. FRIES PLZ SAY FRIES not friiize. Here in the US we call them FRYYYYS FRIES and CHIPS are the ones you buy in a bag from the grocery isle CHIPS.

MaruKame means “RoundTurtle” very huge chain in Japan, It’s funny that you say the noodles are better in Hawaii, because even though they make the noddles in house, it comes in a pre packed flour mix with everything included, temperature of the water they add even are all the same in all the shops, so I’m thinking it might be the heat in Hawaii that makes it more chewy.

Taniokas! Great place, wife loves the fish patties. They have great fried chicken too. The Tanioka family do a lot of charity work in the community.

Tanioka's is my favorite also but next time try Yama's fish market on young st. it's only 2 miles from Waikiki and they have awesome Poke and Bomb hawaiian food! Mahalo for coming to Hawaii and please come back!

FYI, MARUKAME UDON, not MARUKUME, is literally everywhere in Japan. The Sanuki style UDON, not only MARUKAME, is always chewy/bouncy.

My hometown!! My favorites from Taniokas: Spicy ahi tempura powl with sushi rice, The salmon patties and ahi patties are also delicious, and if its there we also get the ahi rolls! The 7-11 next door also has a spam katsu musubi that is one of my favorites!!

Yum.. That is a good udon place.. Right next to it, they have a matcha ice cream place.. Across the street at the top level, there is a Japanese supermarket, you can get some good sushi bowls and stuff there. Great place within walking distance.

So glad you went to Marukame Udon - The Best Udon hands down!! - and so cheap. Ihave to eat there at least twice each time I go to Honolulu. They have lines there from the moment they open until the moment they close. Stayed at the Laylow across the road from Marukame last time - so easy to walk out of the hotel and across the road!. I also had really good poke from a place in the eatery at Ala Moana.
