@@ms.pirate Yeah there was one restaurant I forgot what season but the owner actually cooked great food though it still could be great she was happy to get help and stuff.
I told a chef once that his soup was salty. The room went silent and everyone held their breath. He tasted it and agreed that it was too salty. After that, he told everyone else to shut up and asked me if things tasted good. Some chefs actually prefer the truth.
That soul food lady kills me everytime. A world famous chef doesn't know how your specific food is supposed to taste? Okay. But like, he does know what good food is supposed to taste like, it's literally why he's there.
The few times Gordon does like the food? It's almost always made by an older woman that's been cooking for years and knows how to put her foot in stuff. So to suggest he doesn't know soul food, that's probably all he would eat if he could find enough people that made it right. But most of those people are women who wouldn't be on this show because they know what they're doing and don't work with or for people who don't.

Love the way Gordon talks about food in respect to what it's meant to be like: ribs are exciting, sticky, delicious. He has a strong appreciation for all kinds of food and the language he uses speaks to that passion for respecting ingredients and tradition.
One thing that I will always love Gordon for is the fact that he learns everybody's name and really gets to know them to help them and show them that he really cares.

@@nickpapageorgio8529 Exactly. If Person A did something for Person B to "feel" some kind of way, Person B ain't gonna forget about it and will be wary/cautious/etc next time they're around Person A.
The worst part is, most of these people know that they are pushing out trash food. U should never microwave restaurant food, especially if Ramsay is taste tasting ur food. Do the best u can and then let him help u fix the little mistakes ur making and make the needed changes.
Yo, Alex really deserves better food to serve. He is such a pro and he really sold those dishes that weren’t even any good. That man should be at a place where the food is worthy of his professionalism and presentation skills.

The ownership in these episodes seem so staged, but if you've ever worked in a terrible local restaurant (my last kitchen nightmare level job was 12 years ago and they closed 11 years ago), the look for forlorn hope in the owners' eyes is something that you can't fake, and every one in this video has that look.

The daughter/hostess of the one chef is S tier(based on these clips at least). Knows shit is bad with her dad but is still supportive and reinforces. Better than most families in this show.

I have always wondered why the owners act like they're lives are over when Gordon tells them the truth about their food. I know some of them are in denial, but damn, he's suppossed to be there to help them, not close the restaurant orsomething, I mean, take the hit and move on to better yourselves and listen to Gordon.
when it comes to great mac and cheese you always need to make more sauce than you think you'll need; mac and cheese should be creamy, and thick; I would not call what she made as 'soul food', because that certainly is not good for the soul!
