@tinaengle8989 Thank you! I like your idea for the oatmeal, I'll have to give that a try! The beet hummus was yummy. That's a great find to get an outdoor chair for free and in perfect condition, nice! It's amazing what you can do without a stove, I am especially attached to my water kettle because I use it so much every day! Goodnight and thanks for watching my video.
Hi Sarah, I thought I'd offer an idea for any leftover bread pieces you may have and that is to season them with olive oil or melted butter, salt and pepper or seasonings of your choice, then bake them in your air fryer till crispy and voila, croutons for a future salad. They keep well in the pantry for about a week and sometimes longer.
@justamom789 That’s a great idea! Thank you for letting me know how to make your croutons! The food pantry gets a Rosemary bread I enjoy. I will have to try your recipe with it!
Wow you got shrimp as the score of the week that is awesome. I'm so excited for you. I would love to get some shrimp I haven't had that for quite a long time. Okay i'm to watching the rest of it. The beet hummus looks really good. I've never tried that kind and I don't even know if we've seen it around here I'll have to look harder for it. Those salads look so good. Yum the hamburger dish looks delicious. If you have any leftovers of it throw it in the ziploc baggy and mail it here..lol.
@DisabledandPrepping Thank you, yes I'm excited about the shrimp, too! I hope it's still good, haven't cooked it yet! The beet hummus was good! It adds a little extra yum to the plate! I really enjoy the salads, and trying to eat more vegetables and fiber! The hamburger soup (or is it stew?) is good, I really like the added color of the tomotoes! Thank you for watching my video!
I like to do salads a lot too. You have good ideas to make them more interesting. My food rescue always has dressing packets/toppings left from salad kits that have to be composted and it is nice to grab extras. There was also a big tub of Lemon Vinaigrette packets from Chic -fila a couple of weeks ago - that was really tasty and I think I have a couple more left. I volunteer at the food rescue - we take stuff from stores that are expiring that day and give to whoever wants to come pick up. Lots of nice deli, produce, bakery type stuff. Not a lot of shelf stable items though. We do get some dairy and meat. We usually limit that to one each per family so that it goes further. The eggs always have cracked ones so the volunteers go through them and make full cartons. I still had most of a dozen from the week before and ended up with another dozen this week so I will probably boil some eggs this weekend.
@kathrynm9870 Thank you! I really enjoy the salads and try to beef them up with extras! That's nice you have access to so many salad toppings and dressings, that makes for a tasty salad! Or even sandwich! The hardboiled eggs would be great on a salad, extra protein. It has so many B vitamins!
great idea about decreasing the carbs by putting the sandwich filling on your salad. the salads all looked really good. if they didn't put condiments on the sandwich, i bet the birds would enjoy little pieces of the bread.. i hope you are having a good week. watch out for snakes!! lol
@karenjones1897 Thank you! Yes, that's a great idea to feed the birdies with the leftover bread! I'm working on some health goals and decreasing carbs here and there help me out. On the next food pantry visit, I'm gonna try to find the lowest carb dessert I can. I hope your week is good, too! And yes definitely watching out for snakes especially big ones!
Thrift store was were my dresser came from and my. Chair and side table for my room love to go there and get. My clothes as well oh found nutcrackers there as well
@kathymccoy5935 It’s wonderful to find the things you need at the thrift store and priced affordably! Saving money on necessities feels good! I enjoy going as often as possible and keeping an eye on items to get the best sales.
I like the orgain, the one with the protein and the 50 superfoods, and protein is awesome if you are ever able to get some at the food bank. I use that one. However, I find that it never really mixes well with milk or even coffee if you want to use it to make a protein latte.
Hi Sarah! 👋🏻 The soup with the L…O…N…G name sure looked good! You had another great haul and all the meals looked fabulous! What kind of snake was that? I think I would have turned tail and went back home! Take care and I hope you have a wonderful weekend. 👋🏻😀
@judygriffing1276 Hi Judy! This soup has the longest name ever, haha! I really enjoyed the meals and especially the salads! I hope to get more vegetables and salads on the next food pantry trip. That was a really large black snake! The river had a lot of wildlife that day, we just waited for it to cross the road. Funny thing is a lot of folks will put down blankets and soak in the sun, not me, I've seen too many snakes!!
Do you live near pa because that's exactly how the goodwill stores in pa and jersey used to tag their items The color tag and day of the week determined the sale Plus you say wudder like a Yankee lol. I haven't heard it said that way since 17 years ago
@samanthashaw8329 I'm on the East Coast, in the South! Yes my thrift store has four colors, either at full price, 25% off, half off or 75% off. I'm always looking for the biggest discount! I must've had a grade school teacher that taught me to say "wudder" the way I do. Your comment made me laugh so much. I am definitely a Southern Girl.
