Something I really love about this is that you have an entry level DSLR (like most people probably do) but you emphasize the use of a tripod, light diffuser, and great composition! You also seem to have a great working knowledge of the camera and photography! Having all this knowledge makes your food photos look amazing!

The human element can be tricky but I always use a remote so I can get in the scene myself :) If you don't have a remote, I definitely recommend getting one (the remote I use is here www.rainbowplantlife.com/shop/). Great job, Nisha! Your tutorial on cameras, food photography & styling was excellent. For a moment I thought I was in a photography class taught by a university professor. I use Nikon too! Nikon 5300. I've been using a very high f stop on aperture priority which makes the shutter speed slower. Maybe I need to try going down below f16.

Hey there, I loved the entire series for food photography videos and its very helpful. However, I wanted to ask you a question regarding the lighting. At my home, when I am clicking pictures at the dinner time, due to the overhead tubelights ( white ) the pictures have a glare and food pics look quite unnatural. How do I fix this ? This is very useful. I wasn’t sure which gear I should buy as a beginner. I am planning to buy 50mm lens that you use in general. Would that work on Nikon 3300D body? Thanks!

I’m glad it was useful :) The Nikon d3300 is a crop sensor camera, which means it has a tighter crop than a full frame camera. So the 50mm f/1.8g FX Nikon lens on the Nikon D3300 will actually be “cropped” by a factor of 1.5x, so essentially it will behave like a 75mm lens (much more zoomed in). Nikon also makes DX lenses, which are designed only for the crop sensor cameras. The lens that will replicate a 50mm lens effect on the Nikon d3300 is this 35mm f/1.8g DX lens. Does that make sense?

RainbowPlantLife Thank you for your reply. So as I understood when I upgrade my camera to full frame, I can buy 50mm lens as it works better. For now buying 35mm for d3000 makes more sense. Did I understand correctly? :) Thanks for the help!

Yes, you got it! That's exactly what I did. I had the D3300 with the 35mm DX lens, then I upgraded to a full frame camera (D750) and also bought the 50mm FX lens.
