Food Processor Pie Crust

If you have a food processor, it makes the best pie crust. The knife blades do a perfect job of working in the butter into the flour without overworking the dough and melting the butter. This results in a really tender and flaky pie crust.

There is no life without a food processor. The best one is Cusinart 14 cups.Worth every penny.

I agree. Food processor makes making the pie crust so easy. I do it often as well. I do use Crisco as well with the butter. Using the butter cold is a very important key. I like how you shape the pie edges. I’m bad at that. 😂 I do tell them when I post my videos too. 😊 thank you

I've always known it and referred to cutting the butter into the flour with pastry and biscuits and aside from by hand the food processor seems most up to the challenge than a stand mixer by far. Good tip on freezing for later, kind of like pre prepping meals but doing so at a more convenient time. Does the frozen pie dough become dry from freezing is there more or less of an ingredient to adapt to freezing it? ✌😊 Guten appetit'

Yes, love meal prepping this way! You don’t have to adjust the recipe at all for freezing. As long as you wrap the pie crust in multiple layers and store it in a freezer bag (which is thicker than a regular one) all of this will prevent it from drying out and absorbing odors.

How do you roll the dough out without it fracturing? Mine seems less malleable than yours. Are you supposed to let it sit when you pull it out if the fridge (not freezer) before attempting to roll it out? Thank you!

Yes, you need to let the dough chill for about an hour before rolling out the pie crust. If the pie crust is the right consistency, not too much or too little flour, it shouldn’t be too difficult to work with. Rolling out pie dough does take a bit of a learning curve. Once you do it a few times, it’s not hard.

You can make it by hand too. Use a fork or a pastry cutter/ pie dough cutter to work the butter into the flour, add the ice water and combine with your hands- Pie dough without a food processor. The food processor makes it faster and easier, but if you don’t have one, your hands will do the job too.
