***** About Living Traditions Homestead *****
Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out 3 new videos every week! Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we transition from city dwellers to full time homesteaders!

With only one cow you will be completely dependent on one animal. If she has a problem your dairy supply is offline. Multiple goats offer a more resilient and offer greater security to a family. I do hope you reconsider your decision.

Hi! This little tidbit is especially for you. There is a difference between a hog and a pig. They like to be clean and when they are happy they curl their tails. I'm glad that all of your pigs have curled tails. As always, Chris Bitonti

WOW, I see success here.❣ You2 have Your heads together in organization, and change. Love, Rorri's babies.💗💗💗Folks, goats are pets, sweet, gentle. You need acreage for them, they will eat heavy brush and ingrowth clearing areas of your properties if you "temp fence and move them around. " They are meak, and need to be watched, protected from preditors. You can make, and sell goat cheese as well.

With living the homesteading life I'm sure you are not even aware of how bad it is. I live in a small town of about 23,000 in Ohio. We do have 3 major supermarkets and then Aldi and Save a lot, the shelves are 95% empty. You can't find even beans. Frozen foods, canned foods, staple items, meats, and dairy, paper products, OTC medicines are gone. Thank goodness I am somewhat of a prepper and canner so I am prepared for about 6 months. The only thing I need from the store is fresh produce and fruit. My heart goes out to the families that have to buy their groceries on a weekly basis. There is nothing left for them to throw any kind of nutritious meal together. All schools are closed most likely for the academic year. Voting was cancelled today. Voting! All restaurants, bars, diners, libraries are closed. They are reporting 60% of them will go out of business permanently because of this. The stock market has tanked for weeks but yesterday down almost 3,000 points. There will be no wealth in the middle class left. Retirement accounts are almost gone. All this is happening and I don't know 1 person that even knows of anyone with this virus. I wish we could live more self sustainable but you can't do that living in the city even if it's a small one like mine. We do what we can with what we have growing some foods. Very small scale. Love seeing all the changes and your reasoning why. About when will HOPE have her calf? Will you keep it for meat on the farm or take it to market? The baby goats are adorable but all babies are! Piglets are adorable to! Please continue your videos as much as you can. With everyone being social distant from everything we need these videos. Continue to check on elderly neighbors and others! Keep yourselves healthy!

@Jomama 02 - I live in the very small state of Delaware where everybody knows everybody. They're telling us that 7 people r sick. Problem is that no one knows of any of them. Im hearing this all across the country. This still doesn't seem to wake folks up! Anyway, I've got Amish farming friends over the state line in PA so i can still get just about whatever I need from their backroad stores (even paper products!). The grocery stores r wiped. Since I retired early, ive been canning and preserving for 3 years and I garden in my yard and 2 of my neighbors yards. We'll be ok for a while. I told my family 12 years ago that we needed to get off of the East coast and away from these big cities and move to a rural mountainous area but they said i was nuts. Guess what they now think we should do? Move away from here! Be safe and blessed.😊💕

Be blessed, girl!😊💕💕

Those baby goats are so cute! If I was closer to you, I would buy them from you. I bet y’all thank God every night that you are so far along on your homestead. We have just started back up this year after a few years vacation. Your babies are so tiny. Most people don’t know how engaging and sweet goats are! Momma is a little distressed there. Blue eyes, is that common? Good luck with your pigs. Try to keep those goat families together. They love each other for a lifetime.

Thanks for the reminder that every successful business (and our homesteads are just that!) needs short-term and long-term goals and a well-thought out plan. Sometimes we need to step back, re-evaluate and make sure we are on the right path or maybe need to take a left or right! Life happens and things change. Better to make sure we're not sinking money in one area out of habit or emotional attachment when we could be putting that money/energy/time somewhere more productive!

Guys I sure understand your decision. We are considering selling our goat herd too. I keep Oberhasli goats and I just adore them! But my Jersey cow absolutely covers our needs. I raised Hampshire and Berkshire both for several years. My Hamp sow at 2 years was huge! She was well over 600 lbs. The Berk was smaller but still larger than I cared to handle. Never had an issue with the Hamp boar but both sows became very hard to handle as they matured. All pigs, any breed can be dangerous. Just like a cow be aware always and watch body language.
