I got to visit London 5 years ago and only had time for Selfridge or Harrods and I picked Selfridges. I loved it sooooo much! Those little fruits that look like yellow tomatoes are persimmons, yum!

Hi Hannah, am so glad this video confirmed that I didn't "miss" anything when I was in London last month (mid-Sept), and didn't make a special trip to Selfridges. I agree with your thoughts at the end: Harrods food halls are far superior -- I couldn't stop taking pictures of things as I walked through, plunking myself down at their coffee bar for a cappuccino when I needed a break. The BEST part, tho', was later in the day, finding Harrods Champagne Bar where I grabbed a seat and had a glass of 2016 Moet and Chandon (= "lunch"!). Perfect ending to a day's worth of shopping. Can't wait to see your upcoming holiday videos -- they're always great fun. Cheers!

Good to go round Selfridges today. They have been in business in Oxford Street for nearly 170 years. I used to shop there in the 1950’s. Not the cheapest, but always realistic prices. Like your new coat Hannah.

I do love a mooch through a posh food hall. The cakes at the start - amazing. And the gorgeous tins. So much fab food way out of my budget but fun to see.

Manchester Tart. When I was school it was a pastry case with a layer of jam, then filled with a set custard finished with hundreds and thousands. Delicious. But I was in receipt of free school meals, so all food was delicious.

Harvey Nichols is the elephant in the room here. They used to have all that visual merchandising down to a fine art, before it became a thing. Might be worth checking out to see if they still live up to their 90's peak.

Cheers Hannah, this is Sean in Atlanta! I will probably bring the world down on my head, but that food area is filthy and Harrods looks so much better! I agree with you in that the glass looks disgusting and with the prices they are charging, you should be able to eat off it! And the thought of that almost makes me want to hurl! OK, I don’t know how to spell the word “jush” but it’s hilarious to me! People would pay £6000 for fish eggs? A fool and his money… I’m looking at the Scotch eggs and, I’m sorry, but that place looks just this side of nasty! When it comes to displaying food, I think you could be more comfortable buying it if it looked like the area was clean… I have never been to Selfridge’s so take my comments with a grain of salt. But I have been to Harrod’s several times and I much prefer their foodcourt, or food hall, or whatever you call it, much better! We have had canned booze here in the States for quite a while! The prepared foods look interesting but the black areas that they rest on and the nasty fingerprinted glass is very unappealing to me! And this coming from a guy who doesn’t cook! I know I tell you quite often, but your incidental music and your Hannah words absolutely make me howl with laughter! You are the bees knees and that is for sure and for certain! Thank you, Hannah, for taking me on a tour of Selfridge’s. I am thinking the next time I come to London, I will revisit Harrods and visit Liberty, which I have not seen yet. Biltong and Droëwors are the most delicious savoury treats in South-Africa. We enjoy it anywhere everywhere and is ESPECIALLY served when our World Cup champions, THE SPRINGBOKS, are playing. It is a tradition that started 200years ago when people did not have a freezer to keep their meat in. So they used spices and dried the meat in the open air.

Harrods and Selfridge are now the place to frequent if you are upper middle class or pleasantly rich. Here in Texas we shop at predominately organic grocery markets without all the glitz and elaborate displays.

Hiya Hannah! I love Selfridges, their staff was/is always lovely & non-judgemental, especially when I’d go there back in the 70s-90s looking slightly more “freakish“ than I do now. I recall in early ‘02 staying at the hotel there w/ kiddo who was just a toddler & still remembers that first visit! Hotel personnel was lovely, rooms were very run down, but omg the brekkie was amazing! Truffles, no (unless chocolate 😉), caviar same. Gimme a sausage roll over any of that! Odd I’ve noticed many things that became massive here in NY maybe a decade or so ago getting popular there. Bubble tea craze is pretty much over & we’ve had canned cocktails for ages (have a Moscow Mule in the fridge I keep forgetting about😅). I’ve also noticed prices are similar or even a bit less here in all the fancy food halls there; prices are soaring everywhere sadly. Thanks for another fun vid! Jet 🧡🎸🎶⚡️🤘🦋🏍 PS edited to add: the vodka in skulls is Crystal Head Vodka by Dan Ackroyd made in Canada, comes in a big & small bottles, kinda pricey, not bad.

Hannah -- Nice to hear from you again. You look really nice as usual! Regarding Selfridges, what a rip off! I don't mind looking, but I certainly would refuse to buy at those prices! If you go to Lidl, you can buy a scrumptious chocolate party cake for £4-60. Why waste your money in Selfridges? Better to give your money to charity. I think you are an extremely brave and determined woman to deliver these really interesting videos and expose us to a life we might mot normally live. It takes pluck and courage to video straight after work, and then edit etc. I would be exhausted and just surrender to a lazy evening. We could, however, make an exception on Friday. Friday night is music night -- the right type of course! Do watch out for this new covid strain with all those people about. Thinking of you....

Yes, I agree - M&S food and to some extent Waitrose I prefer in terms of premium food offerings otherwise I'm happy with Aldi! I would say judging by the pricing of baked and deli goods, Selfridges looked like slightly cheaper and reasonable value compared to places like Gail's bakery or premium independent delis. The food hall interior looks quite basic with little wow factor.

Well it's for sure "A fool and his money are soon parted" , my old mum used to say and the rich fall into that category. I would find it hard to justify, spending that sort of money, that to myself. I'm old we were brought up that way. I love M&S, but still find it hard to spend too much there. Oh Hannah, sorry you had to spend so much of your hard earned cash for us. Loose leaf tea is lush, but hard just for one. I have it for company. Thank you again for all your hard work and for showing us so much of London. Your vlogs warm my heart x

Hannah, I actually agree with you that as normally wonderful as Selfridges is, they need to take a lesson from Harrods re their food packaging, & overrall display presentation effort! Even though their quality is probably on par with Harrods, you just don't perceive their food items the same way! I also like it Hannah, when you laugh at some of the "over the top" pricing of certain items....I couldn't agree more & I am usually laughing at the same time! Thx Hannah for all your time & effort to produce these really informative vlogs! In the many years that I have been watching your vlogs, I must say that you have become very natural in all your efforts Hannah! Great Job, & continue to be yourself & stay safe!!!

I went to Harrods as a teenager in I think 1981 and was blown away by the setting and still bought a few bits, but as an experience unforgettable, Selfridges looks like an M&S which are pretty impressive but selfridges looks very tired, I would have bought a big pork pie.

There was a series about Selfridges with Jeremy Piven. It was fascinating. Many of the RU-vid videos I watch out of the UK talk about the dire circumstances of certain cities and people's incomes etc. But then I find a video like this and it's almost like a different country! People say the US has high levels of inequality but from what I've seen, the UK looks worse.

Selfridge's food hall is like Whole Foods without the atmospheric prices of Harrods. Always fun and something new in there.

100 percent agreed on the make up overwhelm. I cannot handle Sephora in store. I used to work high end retail and I still work in sales. I cannot believe the lack of respect for the customers and product knowledge. I go in prepared and researched and won't buy unless I am either impressed with the staff or I just really really just need what I came for.

I was at Selfridges in June (first ever trip to UK). We looked through the food court, but crossed the street and ate at Pret instead.😊

Another enjoyable vlog from our Hannah !! I always say and I travel London a lot that you should not go to Harrods first and then see Selfridges, you will find it plain and boring compared to Harrods! I also find that I purchase from Harrods but never from Selfridges, although I do not find the food in Harrods all that great but yet I have not been to the food hall in Selfridges/never really spotted it as it is such a huge store. I am not so impressed with the Liberty store's merch and prices but the store inside and out is exquisite. I do shop and enjoy M&S the most for food. I am also a non coffee, tea and alcohol person and a vegetarian so I am limited to what I buy but M&S caters to what I need as most in the UK is so much better that the USA when it comes to being a vegetarian. Well that is my two cents worth. Can't wait for my next trip to London next September -my 13th ! You are the best Hannah and see you next Friday.

Those Lotte Choco Pies are from Korea. My local Korean supermarket (in a suburb of Los Angeles) sells them for I think about $3.99 (roughly 3 pounds 25?) I buy them occasionally, they're pretty good.

I could be completely wrong, but as a foreigner comparing Harrods to Selfridge’s; I think Harrods is synonymous with upper-class English and attract a lot of tourism, whereas Selfridge’s is a little bit more homegrown semi-local maybe … and people who (can afford) live in London actually shop there. Personally, if I asked 10 of my friends, they would all know what Harrods is, but I’m guessing not all would know what Selfridge’s is. Just a guess.

Don’t apologise you can definitely see that things could have been cleaner. When your in a place like this you don’t expect to have dirty hand prints all over the glass , I felt like compared to a lot of the other food halls it seems dated when it come to ship fit. Thanks again for a fab video xx

Nicest foods i've tasted is from the various stately homes in Britain that have farms and produce their own products from their land. Always seems to taste better i'd put that down to being more fresh aswell
