1st week food shop of the month (from my households payday) I spent £98.16 in Aldi and £3.30 on to good to go bag my monthly budget is £400 for my family of 6. I have £298.54 remaining
Shops reduce foods throughout the day the earlier reductions will only have a small reduction it’s the final reductions that I shop for, at my Morrisons the best time to get the best deals is around 6pm quarter to- to be on the safe side (times do change round to keep ya guessing) in my Asda they do their final reductions at around 2:30pm both shops reduce the different departments fruit & veg, bread, deli ect at different times, so it’s a bit of waiting around but very much worth it... all stores maybe a little different but best of luck at your local shops and if you get some good deals I’d love to hear about em please leave them in the comments.
Here's 2 videos yellow label shopping with me both very different experiences-
• Food shopping haul com...
And..
• Morrison’s Yellow labe...
I don’t share my location to protect the safety and privacy of my family.
If you don’t have luck at your local Morrisons maybe try Asda as they are also cheap with there yellow labels.
You could give the app Too good to go they sell yellow label lucky dip bags which can be a great deal as well as fun if you don’t mind not know what food your going to get.
Alternatively there is a app called Olio that give food away in your local area it’s a great resource if you need to use it.
If you are struggling to buy food maybe reach out to a local food bank.

Hi! :) Tinned peaches & satsumas/mandarins & tinned/cartons of custard are good, plus dried fruit such as mango are really good for snacking. I also bought corned beef too & bottled water. You could always give tinned pes & carrots a go? Tinned tomato soup is good too & tins of tuna, mackerel & sardines. The jellies are are a great buy!

Brilliant! I didn't know you could get those good to go bags from there. £3.50 wow! You're so savvy! :) My mum and I used to go to Safeway on a Saturday morning when I was a little girl & we'd go straight to the bargain section & get alsorts for about 5p/10p each!

That too good to go bag was a really good bag , you got some good stuff in there helen & a lot of it for the money. Yes i agree with you no good buying things your not going to use. Timned potatos do come in handy tho ( i really like them ). Things like soup, tinned fish, packet sauce mixes, stuffing, crisps ( never have too many crisps in the cupboard) are things you could buy. Onky if you like them tho obviously. Tinned fruit is a good 1 to have. Wraps/ flatbreads/ tortillas good to keep in freezer or cupboards depending on the date.

Hey Helen, I'm in California which is earthquake country. My mom used to buy extra to have in the cupboard in case of the big one. When I got married, I continued to do the same thing. My husband thought I was nuts! Now, we have a well stocked pantry just in case, it did come in handy during Covid so I didn't have to go shopping as much. Yearly in May our postal service does a collection of non perishable goods so I donate to them and buy fresh for us. I think everyone should have a few weeks supply of food on hand, you just never know what could happen.

Hey Debbie I watch a few people from the US and with your extreme weathers it make total sense, it’s just a shock to me I think it’s just a new way of thinking as I stock my freezers up but we all should have a little extra in the cupboards for just in case non perishable items are more so important xx

Good shopping haul. In the USA, it is recommended to have at least one month's worth of food stocked away.

Great haul. I love the extras you are buying. I heard about it… not been on line to check any lists but if I’m honest the price of food anyway at the moment takes all my budget just month to month…. I definitely need to figure away of doing this!
@WrightAtHome
@WrightAtHome 4 месяца назад
Hey Susan that’s the thing I don’t really wana waste a small fortune on foods I may never use if you eat pasta it’s only 29p a bag so it’s justifiable and will get used up I’m gana just by a couple of extra tins a week maybe just by one extra item a week if you can xx

@@WrightAtHome I do need to put a plan in place…. I’ll start working it out. My daughter has special dietary requirements so ‘free from’ foods are so expensive and those price increases are really testing my budget already. Oh dear if only the food prices could start and go back down!

You made me think there.What would i get in extra for emergencies?? My mil allways told me ,if you have eggs and potatoes you have a meal.Bread milk ,we`ve always got extra veggies in the freezer ,so stewed meat for casseroles ,oh and my comfort item...marmite!!Add some cheese and it`s instant happiness and takes me back to my childhood.:) xx

I am guessing that if there is a lose of power that we would lose food in our freezers if we opened them ??? Goodness you could talk yourself around in circles.if you thought about it too much !!
@WrightAtHome
@WrightAtHome 4 месяца назад
Yes Paula I would be gutted if I lost all my foods in my freezer I do have a lot of power cuts in my house the most I’ve had is 3 in one week and I get them at least a couple a month it’s a whole thing so I have had to cook using camping cooking equipment in the past no joke!! But our powers cuts only last a few hours and food in the freezer is ok for 24 hours, I’m very much talking my self in circles half of me thinks it’s just scaremongering and the other half thinks but what if best to be safer haha xx

@@WrightAtHome i know its so unfair of them to do this it really sends your brain into overdrive . I have a big chest freezer in the garage fully stocked with meat and fish and an american fridge freezer in the kitchen stocked with more convience items losing the stock in those would be a financial kick in the teeth . At least in the summer you can bbq but as you and i know ods law any power cuts will happen in winter lol. I think what u have bought is sensible some extra flour for bread and pizza dough and vegetable oil and tinned tomatoes and i think you could whip up some bits for the the family. Its just the sheer worry of it all px

Surely if u shop weekly or fortnightly then you will cover a 3 day emergency and you stretch it out if you had a few extra cans of beans soup pasta rice and tinned tomatoes etc flour and powdered milk .? I would definately need a few extra biscuits and bars of chocolate in lol px
@WrightAtHome

Hey Paula I topically buy more fresh/frozen foods apart from my rice pasta and tin tomatoes that kinda thing haha not non perishable foods so it’s 3 days of tin/dried foods which I feed my family on, so trying to think of what to buy that I can make a meal out of using tin/dried foods I’m thinking tin tuna that will always get used without going to waste I’m gana get some on my next weeks shop :)
@Therese-x8n
@Therese-x8n 4 месяца назад
Exactly if you do a weekly shop or even 2 smaller shops a week then you are always covered for any 3 day emergency. You could have some candles,a battery powered radio with extra batteries,water and maybe a gas camping stove incase loss of power for a few days as well just to be safe .

@WrightAtHome mine is similar it's inside the house next to the kitchen 😅 so we just made it a pantry. I got an allotment just after the pandemic to try and be more self sufficient at the moment iv preserved sauces, relish, jams etc and have things in the freezer. But from supermarkets it's mainly what you bought to be honest tins, pasta, rice (must add toilet roll to the list🤣🤣) It is quite worrying isn't it, would never have thought we'd be "advised" to do it but here we are 😬 One thing I have bought which is totally random for me is jelly blocks and custard powder lol
