Same here. My father's family came from the region. He H8s job included inspecting a plant that specialized in smoked meats - 100% of it went to NYC. I never even tasted any of it. Ever. We had lots of expensive meats, but nothing French or German. In fact my father considered French food inferior to American. I too feel cheated.

I had to take myself off and sit quietly in a corner to overcome the shock of mangled French pronunciation. The musak is intrusive and annoying. The entente is not so cordiale...

I threw up a little in my mouth. Bless her for trying I suppose.

A French person speaking English isn't exactly music to our ears, either.
