Truly I believe there is more to this than just dancing. I think it goes much deeper and in my job I see people every day who could benefit from your skill and ideas. Your relaxed approach is very therapeutic. Amazing! Thank you.

Hi Egils, I am almost at a loss for words. I have seen so many video claiming to teach dance technique. None comes close to the clarity and patience of yours. What I especially like that I can actually see what the feet do, and also that you demonstrate the steps with some arm action. Because of it the exercises don't really look like exercises but become beautiful movements in their own right.

+Peter Reber thanks for appreciating our dance exercises. For me it's important to know they are clear and useful. Egils

Great video. I think these exercises will really help to develop good motion techniques. Some of my beginners need help finding body shape and frame relative to partner. They look nice in their own, but not always able to maintain balance, rotate head, and frame evenly with partner. Outside partner to closed position to promenade. Love your teaching.

+radrickdavis thanks for comment, hope our videos will help your beginners in some small way. I plan to make video with exercises also for posture and hold.

Hello Egils, your foot exercise movements are like Tai Chi but for dancing. I am trying to learn these basic steps first. I have difficulty in coordinating my feet 😆

WOW, I have searched and searched the Internet for exercises like these and found nothing. Perfect, I have wanted exercises to develop technique, co-ordination, style and balance. MUCH thanks for this video. Please Please please make more, especially for the Latin dances as Jive and Cha. Exercises to get hip rotation, foot placement, balance, the "hop" in jive and "bounce" in Quickstep, etc. Thank you so much for these videos! Question: Do we eventually increase the speed of these exercises as we develop co-ordination and balance, or keep it at the speed you show in the video? (PS: My name is Mark)

Mark, i just now read your first comment till end! :) About speed of exercise I would suggest start with very slow tempo and then slightly increase. Exercises usually work best when they are slower than normal movement or if they are faster than normal.
@viewer087
@viewer087 8 лет назад
+Egils Smagris Thank-you. Granted, I am not as skilled as you, but I believe (so far) that the speed increase really shouldn't go faster than the official tempo of the music.
@EgilsSmagris
@EgilsSmagris 8 лет назад
Sometimes it can go faster, for example when you prepare yourself for possibility of very fast quickstep in competition, bearing in mind that you can be physically tired at that time in final. You can for purpose train movements to deal with that. But you're right mostly we do slow exercises.

Brian, your comment surprised me at first, but then I thought logically if exercise helps to stretch dancer's nerves and muscles and develops coordination, may be it helps also people with serious medical problems.
