New and Improved 10 minute dynamic warm up so you can get
your athletes performing at the Highest Level in the QUICKEST time possible!
===========
Here's the full Warm Up:
1.Knee Hug to Lunge + Sprint 10 yards
2.High Knees 5 yards + Sprint 15 yards
3.Backward Lunge Right Turn + Sprint 10 yards
4.Lateral High Knees 5 yards + Sprint 15 yards
5.Walking Hamstring + Sprint 10 yards
6.Lateral Power Step + Sprint 10 yards
7.Shuffle to Sprint 5 + Sprint 15 yards
8.Hamstring Toe Touch + Sprint 10 yards
2 Cone Agilities:
1.Sprint- Sprint
2.Back Pedal-Sprint
3. Figure 8
Then REPEAT starting on opposite side of the cone!
* Try to have less than 4 in a group and this needs to be rapid fire, once 1 guy finishes next guy in line automatically starts.
🔑Time and situations are crucial in coaching and for implementing a high quality warm up.
*Few changes that made a huge IMPACT.
1. We pre organized our warm up lines. We line up 4 to a cone with cones 2 yards apart.
(We posted the warm up lines in the locker room and in front of the gym, this has been HUGE!)
2. Eliminated Static Stretches. I've found with youth / high school athletes they need to start moving and keep moving!
* The athletes who need extra stretching can do so BEFORE the warm up!
***KEY POINTS***
1.) EFFORT is contagious! Meaning if you the coach demands effort you better make sure you are giving 110% and bringing the energy!
2.) Set CLEAR and HIGH Standards. If they don't meet those standards. DO IT AGAIN, & AGAIN & AGAIN until its RIGHT!
3.) Meet with your team leaders before hand. Let them know your expectations and how you'll be using them to Fuel the fire and inspire greatness from their team.
4.) The reason I'm able to push these kids very hard is the relationship that has been built. They know I care about them and my intent is to make them the best versions of themselves!
YOU CAN NOT FAKE THE WORK!
To extract peak performance out of ALL your athletes...
And give your team the best season they’ve had in years.

I used it when I coached 10 year olds. Im going to use it this year for my 5-8 year olds. Less intense but a model of this. Thanks.

Reminds me of my mentor when I went through my internship. LOVE the energy and the intensity, it's what a lot of coaches lack. I can feel the passion just by watching this video. Good stuff Coach! I'll be using some of this in my own warmup for my athletes!

Nice intensity, but why are you asking players to go 110% right after the first 10 yards of warm-up? Isn't the point of (warm-up) to prepare their bodies to give you 110%? Here is an alternative ... Have them execute the warm-up activity you have identified and in the second half have them do a complimentary activity like (e.g. squat walks, ski bounding, lung-hops, crab walks, reverse bounding, skip-hop, ...), that are a clearly more active warm-up, but still not pressing them to an activity speed like full out sprints. You can get really exited about effective execution of the "2nd 10 yards", the same as if they sprinted hard. They each might focus on more deliberate athletic abilites (e.g I've seen a team that has it be all about athletic balance, about stressing hip-mobility, core strength ...) and getting motivated by it. . It is the full out speed activities that most often injure players, outside of game day contact injuries, before they are warmed up and engage in full speed activity. (Force is = to mass x (acceleration). Anyway ... I love how many important things you are in-coding into this starting activity for your team. It clearly is a motivating activity for your players. Thank you for prompting me into thinking of ways I would improve our own team's opening practice routine. Even the thoughts I shared above are me rethinking about how everything we do attaches to our team culture.

So coach do players stretch before doing these warms ups?
@Oneightyathletics
@Oneightyathletics 5 лет назад
Yes, see our Hip Mobility protocol. They have the option to implement before the beginning of practice.
@sc077vv

I encourage my team to perform static stretching on their own time. Static stretching is for cool down. Dynamics are for warming them up.
@EnclaveDesigns
@EnclaveDesigns 3 года назад
@@Oneightyathletics Can I ask why you do static stretching beforehand? We have plenty of studies showing static stretching hardly does anything to prevent injury and prevents athletes from performing at their best. One study I read a while back even showed that delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) was actually increased significantly due to static stretching before a workout.

what does # + # means ?

# = yards. So 5 yards of toe touches, 15 of sprint. Etc.
