About that intro... it's blue lock, to enjoy it you have to concede the goalkeepers position purely exists to compliment strikers. They'll just stand on the goalline as if they're only allowed to deal with every shot as if it's a penaltry shot. For every striker to look good every goalkeeper has to look like a clueless toddler. Blue lock fails at having goalkeepers be competent.

4:31 Imo the most underrated gk performance in recent history is Mbolhi (the algerian keeper) during the 2014 world cup. I mean look up his saves in that wc, he was the best gk in the wc up until algeria were eliminated vs Germany. His performance in the 2019 AFCON was great as well, he conceded one goal throughout the group and knockout stages (they one the competition as well).

You know something I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned or done in both the anime and manga so far is mention of or a player that is similar to Jorge Campos, an amazing goalkeeper that was also famous for also being a talented striker. It's the kind of thing you'd think a series so focused on the striker would eat up. I'm really hoping with the U20 world in the manga coming soonish that such a player comes in, well atleast best represented considering Campos skills as a striker made teams complain that mexico had an unfair advantage with a goalie that was a striker and basically made it impossible for a player like campos to exist anymore.

Ok I understand that your disappointed in the gk but I’ll give you a spoiler that is kinda big so don’t read this whole comment if you don’t want spoilers In the u20 arc (the arc after 2nd selection and a mini arc called 3rd selection) Gagamaru is switched over to gk due to his long limbs and high reaction time where he proceeds to block multiple rin level shots in the u20 match and continues into the next arc getting blocks in almost every match he plays gk

Another fire video. I’ll say one thing about the goalkeepers. These guys just practiced getting a 90-100% accuracy with their goals against these specific goalkeepers. I expect them, at this point, to only prevent goals that are outside the players comfort zone. If a player is doing a shot he’s comfortable with, those goalkeepers might as well not be there (I don’t read the manga but I hear other position players are introduced later). I also think you’re right about Rin looking invincible but I think it’s a thematic choice rather than actually. From Isagi’s POV we can’t tell why he’s so good, we just know that he is. Especially on a smaller pitch, someone with rin’s shooting prowess and awareness is kinda invincible. It’d be different if this was professional play on a full sized pitch.

My husband is anime only, too. He's literally warned me he'll drop the show if I spoil anything. I own every volume of the manga out in English (24 volumes) and keep up with the weekly release of chapters. So you can see how hype I'd get that hubs got into the series. As someone walking a tightrope trying to prevent spoiling my SO, I've gotten good at building hype with minimal information and I can assure you that you are 100% on the right track with your reasoning for why Bluelock man kinda blows as a goalie. Bots don't have creativity.

@@MrsETNRL4L this is EXACTLY why I say (and I’ll stand on this) blue lock’s writing is as good as Attack On Titan and stands as one of the best written shows ever. My friends also read manga and every time I talk about season 1, they’re like “you’re literally telling us what happens in the manga, stop talking before you get spoiled.” The writing is so good that even though there are moments you don’t expect, it all flows from one another and it’s literally tight knit plot wise (Example: recall all of the shots that Isagi took before Team V matchup. 1 taking out Kira and 1 against Team Y. Both of those were direct shots (volleys) and he did it on instinct. The writer was letting us know what Isagi was made to do despite not revealing it until episodes later. Absolutely fire.)
