And so, the Finnish national team got its new nickname: 'The (Eurasian) Eagle-Owls' Bubo Bubo, or also - by the American Bubo cousin: 'The Horned Owls'. In the Bible horn represents power, Qeren ('keren') in Hebrew means horn or ray (of light). They are both pronging us. If somebody is doubting that this is just religious nonsense, well... funny that it happened against a team whose nickname is 'The Devils'. The animal chose the team with the cross emblem - and the fans chose the owl with enthusiasm. Funny maybe also, that one of the key songs of this football team is 'Via Dolorosa' by Tommi Läntinen, an 80's (90's) song, which tells of the road of suffering. Well, this national team has seen that. Sometimes the place in the tournament snatched away in the last minutes, once a famous flipper ping-pong goal for Hungary, which denied the entry. One goal away from the dream. Now, the dream came true win one game to spare. This owl in the vid was known with the name Bubi (R.I.P), carrying the nickname of a famous Finnish commentator, Bror-Erik 'Bubi' Wallenius. And that just happens to be so close to the Bubo Bubo. I remember when I saw this. I was walking in downtown Helsinki, couldn't watch the game, there was some meeting. But as I passed a sports bar, there was live feed showing a close-up to this owl. People were also staring at it incredulous amd laughing, wondering. I was thinking there's something memorable in this - but what's the deeper meaning, does it have a message? The fans sensed some meaning too, they adapted the Owl as the name of the national team. Now, when Finland made entry to the EC cup, and I heard the commentator say let's play 'Via Dolorosa', and today I had been checking what does that mean - that horn, corn in Welsh, cornus in Latin, qeren in Hebrew. After that I just came to see the Horned Owl again. So I gave my view above, what message the Owl carried to the field, to the stadium. Choose your side - the owl did already :)
Why did you say RIP Bubi do you know that he is dead? Because technically Bubi could still be alive. The oldest confirmed(AKA ringed) eagle owl in Finland was just under 28 years old. Birds live a long life you know.
Yes they did. Obviously the eagle owl came home and was like what tha hell are you people doing in home? I don’t know if you knew but Finnish national team got their nickname from that eagle owl
FootballFanFIN In american "football" the ball rarely comes in contact with feet, and it's not shaped like a ball. So to be more accurate, i have renamed it "hand-egg".
En tajuu et mitä nii ihmeellistä tossa huuhkajassa on ihan normaali eläin Suomessa ne ovat taas vain näitä kaupunkilaisia jotka eivät ole tottuneet näkemään tavallisia luontokappaleita
