I saw him once standing outside of Newcastle station. I had to say something. I walked up to him shitting myself, said "Paul", he looked at me thinking who's this weirdo, I put my hand out, shook his hand, and I just said "Legend". He laughed, said "Cheers mate", and I went on my way. Best day ever.
I was thinking the same. I was listening. Thinking god I love this bloke. His character. I want so much for him to know that and stay sober for himself.
Celtic fan here, how could anybody no like this guy like myself lost everything through the booze but never lost his character, fall down seven times stand up eight.. Looking good gazza god bless..
Aye how can you no like a wife beating alkie bastard, huns go on about paedophilic s even tho they had plenty, but it’s okay to blooter fuk out a defenceless woman if you’re a cheeky chappie Great player but guy’s a fkin arsehole and if he’d played for us they would be calling him all sorts
Footballers these days will sit on the bench for 250k.... You can see the passion in Gazza’s eyes that he’d play a 90 minute match in someone’s back garden for 50p. Absolute northeast legend ⚽️
Despite not being a Rangers fan I became a huge Gazza fan after my team Morton visited Ibrox on his debut in Scottish football. He took absolute pelters from the 3000 'Ton fans behind the goal for the whole match. Yet at the end of the game he came over to our support, applauded us and gave us the thumbs up. The gesture was reciprocated and he was given a huge ovation in return. A true working class hero who oozes class.
Loved here in Scotland too. I support celtic and when he went to rangers I was gutted coz I was a fan of his. I couldn’t hate him though. He’s too likeable to hate. Even when he scored a goal against us in the Scotland v England game and done that daft celebration were he lay down with his mouth open and all his team mates were mimicking pouring alcohol down his throat. 😂 It was a cracking goal too.
Just a celtic fan here,.. But I love gazza,.. Not a bad bone in his body, his got a heart of gold, always love his banter just lights any room up,. God bless him, “We love you Gaz,🙏🏼❤️
5 people dislike... For gods sake this man has been through enough negativity and there is still people out there sticking the knife in.. This man had talent, was the best in his time and has been through hell... And people are still sending their negative views... Have you ever heard of the saying "if you don't have anything nice to say, say nothing at all!"... And that goes for pressing the dislike button too. Nobody is forcing you to watch..!!!!!
He broke my heart many times as a Celtic fan, but I have all the respect in the world for him. Wish him all the luck in the world. Just one of us, a regular fella with a troubled past. God bless you Paul.
The reason James is a great interviewer is because he lets the person speak. They feel comfortable and tell there story. They open up. Well done, my favourite channel, so many people who we would never get to hear from otherwise x
Always remember Gazza playing for Everton against Bolton an Walter smith tried to sub him but gazza wouldn’t come off!! Next minute gazza scores the winner!! What a legend!!
I still adore Gascoigne.I’m nearly 50 now but still got the posters on my wall.On his day he was the best in the world and no one could touch him.A down to earth lad with a heart of gold an a diamond of a footballer.
@@hotmama811 nope ..smashing being the best podcast in UK n he's podcasts are good to watch .. he asks the right questions and let's the person speak... Had he's bad times and changes he's life around and is doing well ... Another words smashing it ,😁 . So wish him all the best because I've been there and isn't easy changing your life around . So fair play to him. 😉
As was in Turin for that game . Was sitting above the dug outs , Franz Beckenbour got Gaza booked that night. He know what he was doing the clever kraut
@@SimonMartinForPrimeMinister there will always be jokes and insults but there should always be respect aswell mate seeing him at some times of his life really broke me
@@aidanmurphy9030 Of course mate I respect many of Celtics players and fans over the years. It’s a rivalry but I respect Celtic as a club, the fan base and the achievements. Glaswegians after all.
"I've had the opportunity to meet a lot of famous people" what an amazing guy, this is why Gazza is loved by the masses. Just a normal lad, with that great geordie sense of humour 😀
Being a Celtic fan I must admit watching this guy play was amazing . Gutted what he used to do to us but you need to just admit a class player. He seems so down to earth and hopefully he can enjoy the rest of his life and hopefully stays off the drink .
Im a Celtic fan but I have to say I’m glad Gazza is still around today because lets be fair, more than a few times over the last 10 years it wasn’t looking good for him. Absolute legend!
Absolutely brilliant interview! James as an interviewer is top draw, doesn’t interrupt and always gives out plenty of strength and positivity, kept Gazza going there! Legend of a footballer.
Aye sweet canny lad only gottta smile on his face when kicking a ball and kicking fuck out a defenceless woman 👩 What a lovelable cheeky chappie he is, scumbag
Absolutely love this guy as a rangers fan he is best player I have seen in our jersey. His battle with addiction is so sad but his fight and determination is second 2 none keep going Gazza such an inspiration too many
As a Newcastle supporter I remember him making his breakthrough in to the first team. He was so talented and was a cut above established international players.
one of the most naturally talented players england has produced. everyone of his generation talks about him. quality to see him looking and sounding well. gettin some serious names on now james!
Behave! He is NOT well! All that scratching and half yawning...? Benzos, opiates or anti depressant at very high dose. 100% he is taking one of those 3 drugs.
@@yossibenayoun5642 to a degree, yes. However, I speak from experience here. I understand nervousness etcetc but I know what nervous system depressants do to a person and this interview is a perfect example. It doesn't really matter, he is who he is but that is the body language of somebody on one of those 3 drugs.
GAZZA YOU WAS MY HERO,IM NOT ASHAMED TO SAY MY WALL WAS FULL OF POSTERS OF YOU, MATE IM A SPURS FAN,BUT YOU NEED 2 REALISE YOUR PROBABLY THE ONLY PLAYER WHERE IT DONT MATTER WHAT TEAM YOU PLAYED 4,EVERYBODY LOVES YOU..#GREATEST
Back in the 90’s every kid that played football wanted to be like a Gazza ! The man was such an inspiration for so many of us ! So glad to see him sounding & looking well again . He’s a Legend in his own right & he will always be the class clown of Football ! Keep up the good work James , your interviews are second to none fella 💯 🙌🏼 ✊🏼
Remember Being in a restaurant in woolton Liverpool were I live and he played for Everton ( no shit he payed for everyone's scran and ale..not that we wanted anything from him just the way he was...think why he payed because everyone left him alone not asking for autographs he just wanted a scran himself top lad..
The press leaving bottles of gin outside his door so they can photo it! If that alone doesn't let people know that that mob are scumbags nowt will! Much love to Gazza❤
Gazza, I live in walker in Newcastle. Below me in our flats we have a staunch rangers fan a young lad in his 30s.. He has recently moved into the little apartment below and we became really good friends after our common love for you. We spoke for hours about football and it always came back to your name. From me when I was a young geordie boy walking up to the gallowgate, hearing the local hero blasting holding my dad's hand. Thanks gazza, externally grateful. My dad has passed away and the memories I have with him, your enclosed inside of watching you at St James Park. Cheers gazza
How can you not love this man. He is the kind of guy who you seem to have a weird connection with, almost as though he is part of your family. Just the average guy who happened to be a genius with his feet & his vulnerability makes him more loveable. Keep going gazza you got this xx
Gazza is a warm-hearted gentleman. His problem, just like George Best, is that all they knew from childhood was football their entire lives. When that career was over, they were lost and with it their sense of identity and self-worth. Good luck to you, Gazza ! You are still much admired.
Xcelent watch m8 Celtic man myself but that man was a genius on the field before he started the swalley amazing how fame changes people .Hope he stays on the straight road he's a legend ! SCOTLAND
And then your getting paid shit loads of money thousands every week to do what you love doing compared to the average man doing a dead end job getting paid peanuts sometimes life just ain't fair!
I remember meeting him when I was about 7 when he played for Everton. He took my sweets off me and took one! Such a nice, down to earth bloke. I met him when I was 7 and that's something i'd never forget
I’m a Celtic, rivalries aside there’s no denying what a football player he was. He run the show against the Germans at Italia 90, he played even better after he was carded. I’m probably one of the few Celtic fans that found the flute playing incident funny. You knew as soon as he done it people were going to be up in arms about that. The game is sadly lacking in characters these days.
@Decimus Septimus Tutelus Gazza had no money as he give it all away.He was a great player and had it all.Your like the press spouting the negatives, just think of the football he played and put a smile on your face.
I was a kid when you Scored that Three goals against Aberdeen to win us 8 in a row. I was in the Govan rear that day and Jesus one of my greatest moments at a Football game. Rangers fans loved you and we always will. Great interview. You are looking great. Dont be too hard on yourself and stay well Brother Gazza. Xx
He looks proper better now don't he.. god bless you paul gascoigne.. a national treasure pure and simple... thanks for this one james English another belter 👊👊👊
BOOM! We're nearly on! Another top guest! I've had some good nights out with Gazza, we've lost touch over the last 10 years and I hate it when I see him in a mess in the media! It is such a sad story with Gazza, but let me tell you something and I'm sure you will see it in the interview when it airs... Gazza is the most kind hearted man I have ever met! (Also the funniest) He has a lovely heart he really does, at times when I have been out with Gazza it was me that got stressed at the amount of people coming up to him to shake hands or get a photo but Gazza always had time for people, his kindness just shone through! He was hounded by the press, I remember we were in a bar called Bruxelles just off Grafton Street in Dublin and Gazza was widely reported to have been off the drink, he was drinking milkshakes. The press were all outside with their cameras waiting to get 'that shot' Gazza couldn't hold my beer, he couldn't get a round in because that would be the shot they wanted! Him with a beer in his hand! No back story it would have been next day headlines 'Gazza back on the drink' Imagine having to live your life feeling you are being watched 24/7, that is what they did to Gazza! He even worried about the way he walked or if he tripped because that would be the shot they wanted! Of course in the early days he loved the attention but in the latter they ruined his life! I hope James, with his fantastic interviewing skills, shows the world the true Gazza, a gentleman, a kind caring funny man! I can't wait for this one! Well done James!
@@fredinabun1242 He played at Boro with one of my best mates and he introduced us, we used to eat in a cafe in my hometown and they have a pic of him with all the staff behind the counter, it was great to meet him and we hit it off as soon as we met, it was strange at first because I’m a Spurs fan and i idolised him back in the day, then all of a sudden he’s a mate and we’re texting each other etc.. the guy has a heart of gold honestly! He’s got his troubles but he means no harm to anyone! I haven’t watched the interview but I can’t wait.. I will get in touch with him again, this has brought it to the forefront 👍🏻 stay safe buddy
I'm a Boro fan born and bread 🍞 there and played for the Middlesbrough school of excellence. There was no academy at the time but I remember when Gazza played for us he scored a few free kicks. I'm sure I was at Everton when he scored against them for Boro. Hope you do get back in touch with him life is short. Wish you well.
@@fredinabun1242 Thank you mate.. you are right, life is short! I’ll make it a priority when lockdown is over and a bit of normality is resumed 👍🏻 stay safe buddy
Gazza broke my heart with that Euro 96 goal, but you can’t help but love the guy. He’s lived some life that’s for sure! All the best Gazza and keep up the good work, James. Cracking podcast.
Come on, all that scratching and half yawning?? He's taking anti depressants at a very high dose, benzos or some form of opiate. This is Gazza and I'm getting on the former but you have to admit that was NOT the performance of a guy that is "himself". Kudos to James for the great interview though.
Press taking pictures when he relapses about time they give him credit for the player he was and what he left on the pitch. Heart and soul of the best England team since 66 and if they won it they would have been called better team that won the world Cup. It was a pleasure to watch him and his stories are hilarious. Might be tired and maybe doped up but looks a lot better than perceived by the press
True legend from my local town. How could anyone gifted with the talents this lad has had from such a young age, get through a life full of amazing achievements unscathed. Remember he was top of his game long before players were baby sat the way they are today. Legend always love you mate.
Unfortunately nobody comes through anything unscathed Neil. I think Gazza would agree. No disrespect meant, Gazza is the best:) Love from sunny Bournemouth:)
Great podcast. His legacy will live forever as one of the all time greatest footballers. Hope Gaza knows that he is loved for the great player & character he is 👍🏼 Legend
Here's Gascoigne, brilliant play, oh take a bow for that, that's unbelievable, in a minute Seaman saves a penalty to Gascoigne scoring, making it 2-0. England 2 - 0 Scotland Two geordie legends scoring Shearer, Gascoigne. Was a whisker away from scoring golden goal against Germany in the semi final.
Wow can't wait for this one rangers legend and love the guy he's mental gazza won't be surprised James if this one gets the highest views likes so far 👍
