Yank here, was looking for a "football sim" as in American football sim in 1999 and Championship Manager kept coming up. Because of the universal high praise, I decided to mail order it--sent an envelope with American cash to a retailer in the UK (I had to guess the exchange rate and just sent more than I think I needed) and had to trust that there wasn't a region block for the CD coming back--and instantly became hooked to the superior football--I played Championship Manager BEFORE I ever saw a football match on TV (aside from World Cups). Championship Manager 3 was my first, tortured myself by starting in lower league with Northwich Victoria.
This was great, you should do a video where you recreate the tactics of some historically great sides like, Brazil 1970, Celtic 1967, Hungary 1950-56 & Ajax 1965-73 etc
Tried your CM tactic: 31132 - no individual player PI, with Malaysia team Selangor (on 3rd season), beat Korean team 3-2 on 2nd leg of Round 2 of AFC (aggregate 6-4 win). It was a roll-coaster 3D match to watch 😂
🙌🙌 I’ve still got my Amiga 1200 and all my copies of Champ Manager, Champ Manager Italia etc from the very beginnings. Loading the floppy disks and swapping them over took ages at times 😂 Oh but the pure joy of being in control of all the iconic players throughout the decades 💪
CM97/98 was full of supertactics. But even better, one of the defaults was basically a supertactic out of the box. The default 3-1-3-3 worked so very well.
Ive been using these tactics for the last couple of FMs, great highlights to watch and always the highest scorers in the league. Usually its 2cbs 2 wbs, standard 2 CM and DM in midfield then 3 narrow strikers
Mate this was my era. I remember creating a 4231 with Juve before that formation was even a thing 😂. My biggest achievement was winning the champions league with Notts county.
I used to have a version of the 4-3-1-2 but mine was a 4-3-3 with the centre forward dropping into the hole. Probably worked the same. The default 3-5-2 attacking was amazing too.
Cruyff 3-3-3-1 Barcelona famous 1992, trust me its most difficult formation for using in the Football manager series, require deep understanding of transitions because Cruyff didnt want fullback or wingback 👍
I still play CM01/02 occasionally. A lot of us do. Its still really popular, with updated databases. Even this version, people still play it. How about doing a WM formation?, which was a real tactic used successfully by Herbert Chapman at arsenal
I remember buying the Championship manager magazine also that had a 3313 narrow tactic detailed in it by a bloke called Paul Beasley. I’ve often tried to replicate it but never truly matched its original success.
Interesting test. :-) I do think, though, that you did not fully execute the second tactics as it was shown, since it was called a "Direct Style" of play and I noticed you had short passing selected in the FM24 version.
My Friend if I could release a Chosen Ones everyday I truly would. I'd need to be Full Time to do that and I'm afraid my pesky real world job begins today for a few days again. We can bin that off when Vids get to to 10k a view average haha
@StingerNeilD yeah, 3-1-3-3 works a treat in 0102. The cm community have managed to bring out a 'starter kit' with about 6 databases on it and they continue to update the database to the present day, with some mad tactics 😂
