During my teens, Rushie was immense, scoring with both feet and heading them in for good value. WHAT A PLAYER, legend and truly humble gentleman. HE will never walk alone!
He broke my Evertonian heart in 1986 and av never recovered 😢But hats off too a Legend of the Game one of the best il ever see sticking the ball in the Net🤝
His greatest asset was the ability to use both feet, this opened up so many angles to goal, making it virtually impossible for the goalkeepers to read.
Not only a killer in front of goal ...one of the great defensive strikers he never gave the opposition centre halfs a minutes rest when they were in possession.
Ian Rush was fantastic, right enough he had some wonderful players around him then, Souness, Dalglish, Wheelan, wee Sammy Lee, to name a few, plus the manager's were always top notch,.
One of the best finishers I have ever seen in the last 55 years, so consistent. As an LFC fan I always thought the team would win when he played, total class.
I started supporting lfc in 77 & was lucky enough to witness ian rush from beginning to end .......that hat trick at an icy villa park ...left foot volley, header & the right foot lob over the goalie. The man just can not be stopped.A legend of the club who sits @ the top tabel.
If you weren't born in that era, it's hard to describe what an absolute forward he was. His reputation was massive in his prime, and he lived up to it. Not a great dribbler or all-around player, but you put him on, and he's going to destroy you. Probably among the greatest finishers ever to play.
You cannot learn a born striker anything , it is a gift they have without trying , a telepathic awareness and understanding with his team mates , his ability to make defenders look stupid , and above all his strike rate . the ultimate goal machine .
I watched him play a few times at ANFIEALD how much would he be worth today wot a player absolutely brilliant and all round defender as well one of the GREATS OF FOOTBALL .
My all time best striker ever, growing up as a kid on Ian Rush. Posters on my wall. I saw his 4 goals at Everton and the 86 FA cup. Brilliant. 346 goals!
Inspirational. One of the commentators in the 86 FA cup final made an observation during the match (after Rush's equaliser I think) that at the time "Liverpool have never lost a match in which Ian Rush has scored". And while he netted some gloriously spectacular long range and first time volleys, the third goal in that final sums it up for me : supernatural speed and ability to be in the right place at exactly the right time and the skill to take advantage of it - he was involved in starting the counter inside his own half, yet somehow outran everyone to be placed to receive the final cross, then calmly, decisively and precisely rifling it home.
standing on a barrrier leaning on a kop roof support every saturday as a young kopite watching Liverpool in the 80's kenny and rushie the whole team and place was the centre of the universe hands down , i walk in a humle life now knowing i was blessed in the chapel of ANFIELD
Leeds fan here rush was the striker in this country he was deadly and the other teams wear scared of him wat a legend he's up there with the best of bristish players thank you rushy
Watching this just after Jurgen announced he was leaving. He joins these people as true greats of LFC, adding to it's great history, he would have loved Rush.
He is a player that my late father is very fond of, of course Liverpool and I at that time I was 12 years old still supporting Everton only in 1997 I supported Liverpool because of Michael Owen until now I love Liverpool very much 🥰
Seen Ian live at Old Highbury what player. Lighting speed he was at on right hand side of the square. Suddenly he disappeared on scored on the left what. Great man and player
I'm a Spurs fan but always respected Ian Rush. He was one of those strikers who went cold in front of goal. He's one of those players that would still thrive in the modern game. Was lucky enough to meet him once. A class act.
In my opinion. Best Striker in world football. Made Maradona look like a beginner. Just like Kenny Dalglish made Maradona look like a beginner. Now let's see all the Argentina so called " football experts " whinge about my comment. Personally I couldn't care less. Rush, Dalglish didn't run on drugs, dive or punch balls into the net.
I hope Ollie Watkins has watched Rush videos! Ollie misses so may 50-50 chances, Rush never missed even hard ones! Most cminical striker ive ever seen in 45 years! Rush, Marco Ban Bestwn, Peak Milan Shevchenko! Thats it! U dont get better. Top elite tier strikers. Every time Ollie Watkins has ball in front of goal, I'm riddled with anxiety fingers crossed! He's too nice! Great lad though! 😂😮
Love ya Ronnie an Irish beacon in football terms can't understand why you didn't get into management 🤔🇮🇪💚🍀💯ps your goal against Russia for us mccarthys long throw your volley it's the best game of football I've ever seen Eire play👏🇮🇪Eire Abu
Radcliffe was correct. Best striker from UK ever. Did not even takes pens. Just too good and quick for defenders. With him in the team, you just knew you most likely win. The best bar none.

Regarding his national team regrets...I wonder how good Great Britain team would be in the mid/late 80s... you would have Rush, Lineker, Beardsley and Mark Hughes as forwards. But I'm not from Britain and don't know is it a political question and how would people take it back then.
Rushi was the best when he scored you knew we would win first time we lost was arsenal 1987 against arsenal in the littlewoods cup final the jammie sods 😂😂
