I bought this game a couple years ago after seeing one of your previous videos that covered it and still play it on and off to this day. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who is up for a real challenge. Also, splattercat you should do a full playthrough series for this one, I'd love to see how you approach the endgame!

I agree, I too am exhausted with politics and all the b.s. that is smothering media lately. I tend to avoid any game, movie or show that has them in it, because I do not relax to have that same real life b.s. thrown at me. I will try this game out anyhow, because I am sure that the b.s. is likely very little, and the game looks like some good fun.

The political messaging consists mostly of small offhand jabs at the left wing. An NPC during a quest says something about wasting money on a gender studies degree. There is a star-sprangled cap that triggers demonrats. Killing a triggered demonrat unlocks "The Deplorable" title. A set of liberalist artifacts lets you befriend demons. The potion of willpower is made out of a single hair of one named "Vladin Putimir". There is a food item called bookworm with a description "You vil eat zе ьugs and you vіІ lіke it!". You can make fun of a lich's robe by аsking which dead crоssdrеsser he took it from. This is mixed in with a whole lot of just generally raunchy goofy real life references, like a guild wizards trying to achieve post-nut clarity, a swiftness potion making you "move smoother than a backwards walking pedophile", something about the weather girl saying "Scorchio!" and performing a booby bounce (I don't even know what the hell that is a reference to), the location of the game being called the Frostmourne Keep, the new quiver item possibly being a reference to drum mags (citation needed), etc. It's not an immersive game. It does not take itself seriously in the slightest.

@@Dosbomber It is very little. There is pretty much a trump maga hat that makes certain enemies transform into enraged bosses. Said boss is a rat. Read from that what you will. Anyway its really subtle and I just had a little chuckle seeing that. That being said, I am not american so I dont really care about that c*ap.

Man, splat, you finally sold me on this game. I remember you talking about it a few months ago and the art initially threw me off a bit, but hearing you talk about how deep this stuff is (achievements, the hereditary thing) really sold me. I'm kind of frustrated with roguelikes that aren't deep on that level- and clearly this game wants you to succeed by doing what true roguelikes do best (killing you, and making you learn from it). The base game and all it's DLC are 50% off right now which is an insane steal. Welp, splat, you took my money again!!

Absolutely love this game. I got burned out after not being able to get to level 20. I still have countless heritages to unlock and this video got me hyped up to play again! I might even break down and play easy mode to unlock some things....but probably not :)

you need to find some rings and gear that is full rng, and then get lucky enchanting the gear... all that happens 2 times each 50 runs one of those lucky runs end in you falling into a spike pit lol.

Thank you for recommending that based game, loving it so far. To this point the most painful death was to hypothermia, I completely underestimated deadliness of it and my very promising character got snuffed without an enemy in sight, killed by own overconfidence bordering foolishness.

This game is actually very interesting. It feels so refreshing from many modern games. I think, it's the imagination that we fill in between the artworks. Modern games just give out spectacles but the brain sometimes take that as boring. However, when the art isn't always realistic, or full, the brain really get a good time filling it in. Maybe because this game isn't just rogue-like, it's more like "modern rogue", or "rogue remake".

I was playing Qud for months and about 2/3 through. Then I went to a new area with full HP and was one shotted. It was fun, but I'm not investing the time on hardcore again to crawl through the same content. It was fun while it lasted.

My fave roguelike of all time is angband. There have been some great variants on that too. Not as in depth as qud. But more Tolkien, so I enjoy it more. Even though most variants tend not to be super tight adherents to Tolkien.

Splat, dont you have the expansion that add the card game? Its fun, and also helps a lot early on. Females with high Cha can recruit males NPC and Male with high Cha can recruit females.. And tip for someone that played/read about this way more than i should have, only swords, hammer +1, heavy armor, rings and amulets are worth id and sell.. And be careful when mixing food and drink, they can be cursed

Mаlеs actuаlly nеed STR instead of CHА to recruit, since they do іntіmidation checks іnstead of pеrsuasion.
