Not going to lie...been playing this on repeat while at work on 10 hour shifts...on my drive to and from work for an hour, and also at home on my PC... all for about three weeks now. Some of the most inspirational songwriting abilities I have heard thus far! Fucking phenomenal album fellas... the world needs moar!! edit: stuff
Just stumbled on this album..i wanted to turn it off and do the things im supposed to be doing today like 4 times, but i just couldnt. Every time i was about to, another riff, melody or the general awesome songwriting present here demanded i stay and listen to the entire album in one sitting. i did just that, and im really glad i did. this album is a triumph and these guys deserve way more exposure.
Wow guys, absolute inspiring and varying album! Many positive vibes in it. Perfect to just sit down, close your eyes and wallow in memories:) We love it!
Wow!! After quite a while of ignoring this in my suggestions it is now at top of my list. Finally a prog instrumental band that has meaningful solos. And everything else for that matter. Great production
Guys i have your full album rolling all day long i feel each part and each have diffrent taest happy sad also crying ! thx for making this amazing art work
You two, ROCK. Please keep this going and it is in my sincerest hopes that people are being generous and helpful to this cause. Music for the soul, brothers.
Man, I remember when I first heard this album and felt a bit disappointed, I didn't give it a fair shake. I first heard 'you are the universe' back in 2018, and I was just getting to know my now wife back then. When I listen to that album, I inevitably think of her. It just has so much weight attached. Then I heard this one not too long after and didn't feel instant attachment, so I thought it wasn't as good. I thought, "Well, maybe the third album will be good?" Which, yes, I can say that album is indeed stellar, I love how it makes it seem as if the songs are meant to comfort, in this post Pandemic world. So, I found just decided to finally give this album a 2nd listen. It's not the 'Depths' EP that started it all. It's not 'You Are The Universe' that speaks so much to me. It's not 'There, There' in a post 2020 world. It's 'Big Sky'. It has its own voice, and there are standouts here, too! Manhattan Bridge, Remission, It's Just Money, and Remedy are all awesome! It's not For Gaints' previous and future works, and that's okay, it doesn't have too be. It's beautiful exactly as it is. Much love, Eric and Earl, can't wait to see what the future holds in the years to come!! Sincerely, A fan from Arkansas.
It's weird the way how a particular piece of music can resonate with you (or not) can change over time. I listened to this album probably a year ago and it didn't really do anything for me, but now with more time in the prog-metalsphere I'm listening to it again and really into it. Outstanding stuff.
For Giants is just AWESOME... I grew up on classic rock from my dad mixed with metalcore and post hardcore in the late 90s into early 2000s, then went straight into progressive trance with armin van buuren's a state of trance show for many years... it's crazy to hear the progressive works in these tracks.. so much powerful emotion, wish you guys were around earlier, this would have been perfect for those long, drawn out high school and especially college study/project nights! Anyway, I had headbang in peace within my cubicle as an IT engineer now.. life is good, thank you!!!
On my second listen through now, and I'm really liking it. Have been searching for something new for a while and this fits the bill, you guys are incredibly talented.
It is hard to put in words how impressed I am with the chops, how tight everything is, and how much the technicality adds flavor rather than overbearing the flow. You guys are incredible! Cheers
This is so great to smoke out to and just feel the music in your Soul. Each song feels like it comes with it's own visual representation of the sound, I hope that makes sense.
The last minute of this album is pure bliss. Those amazing riffs that make you think about life.. Exactly what I look for with instrudjentals. The music speaks louder than words sometimes. Keep making music, hope to maybe see you two live someday!
Damn. This deserves so many more views and likes. I saw this in my recommended feed and im so glad i clicked. Incredible stuff. This right here is art.
I used to listen to rock, pop, metal, techno, mostly metalcore... Nowadays Im only listening to this type of music. I dont even know what genre it is "instrumental uplifting metal" or something, but I love it :D
Wow! Guys just finished the first 27 minutes "Second Skins." It's really good! Some of the most complex arrangements I've heard. Where the hell has this music been? Bravo boys! We need more!! Tons... Listening to the rest now!!! Inspirational. Thanks guys.
Finally some prog-metal which isn't "metal, but with jazz" (nothing wrong if you enjoy it, it's just not my thing). I can see a bright future for that project or at least some nice collaborations.
Weird thing....why is it that most RU-vid comments are pure vitriol, disgust, and trollism, but these modern Prog Metal - style bands accrue nothing but reverance in their comments? Are the majority of listeners particularly familiar with the roots, and ultimately, culmination of musical style that these kind of artists express? Eg. - Why don't Taylor Swift fans find this fucking amazing? She was, and is, a producer of severely LISTENABLE music (lol, whatever that means). I suspect it's simply because complex music (traditionally Classical and Jazz) is INCOMPREHENSIBLE to those unfamiliar with its standards.
You are COMPOSERS, and PLAYERS, not SONGwriters, which is a subtely different thing, than the traditional sense of people who create music, and we humans take time to catch up...
Great comment Chris. I had youtube on going down a rabbit hole, stepped outside for an hour, came back in and heard "We're still here" and it instantly touched my soul. People either get it or they don't. Someone on another channel asked if anyone else cries when hearing this style of music. I am that guy...when great music like this is composed that evokes emotion, I can't get enough of it. Like you said, people with standards respond to great music.
Popular music (read: mainstream radio pop/hiphop) today is the musical equivalent of instant gratification. It's superficial and shallow. No nuance, no depth. Metal and prog actually require you to be a musician or a higher thinking human being to be able to understand and appreciate it. Like placing a childs finger painting next to a Monet or Da Vinci painting...although taste may be subjective, sometimes art is objectively better when you have the capacity to understand it's superiority in comparison to others.
@@Oh_its_Mike i agree with you, i write music a lot for my band and its hard work compared to a friend that just sings and has a producer just bust out beats and melodies for her. its not like shes not talented but just IMO all she does is sing and has everything else filled in for her as for me i have to write guitar melodies, bass lines, drum parts and other KEYFX's and stuff and takes much longer to write 1 song.
