I haven't seen anyone mention this, but look how the color grading starts desaturated and increasingly becomes more vibrant and I thought that was just a beautiful detail echoing the story of Wicked.
I was aching for one of these dudes to be a baritone and hear those chords at wider intervals, but, BUT! That's just a remarkable take on that song. Both gifted singers. The second guy has a perfect nasal mask resonance to his voice. My cap is off to both of them, and to their voice teachers, and to their parents for nurturing their talent. Wicked Broadway revival... Ready, set, go!
@@neilarmstrong-plews5882 I'd bet everything, he's got a great lower register, and those boys likely read the comments. Let's ask them... Do a take with Peter singing down the octave? No fancy camera work expected. Just your glorious voices into the same expensive microphone. Thousands of people have seen that show. You guys could touch many lives by describing friendship that way.
I've heard it said That people come into our lives For a reason Bringing something we must learn And we are led to those Who help us most to grow if we let them And we help them in return Well, I don't know if I believe that's true But I know I'm who I am today Because I knew you Like a comet pulled from orbit As it passes the sun Like a stream that meets a boulder Halfway through the wood Who can say if I've been changed for the better But because I knew you I have been changed for good It well may be That we will never meet again In this lifetime So, let me say before we part So much of me Is made of what I learned from you You'll be with me Like a handprint on my heart And now whatever way our stories end I know you have rewritten mine By being my friend Like a ship blown from its mooring By a wind off the sea Like a seed dropped by a sky bird In a distant wood Who can say if I've been changed for the better But because I knew you Because I knew you I have been changed for good And just to clear the air I ask forgiveness For the things I've done, you blame me for But then I guess We know there's blame to share And none of it seems to matter anymore Like a comet pulled from orbit (like a ship blown from its mooring) As it passes the sun (by a wind off the sea) Like a stream that meets a boulder (like a seed dropped by a bird) Halfway through the wood (in the wood) Who can say if I've been changed for the better I do believe I have been changed for the better And because I knew you Because I knew you Because I knew you I have been changed For good
The power of great music, especially great singing like this, is that it can deeply affect different people in different ways. In the comments I've read, no one has mentioned that this performance can easily be seen as a wonderful gay love song. I don't whether the singers are gay, but that doesn't matter. To me, in this performance, they are singing it as if they are. Two hunky countertenors, smiling at each other, expressing their love. It brings me to tears.
Not cool dudes, you made me cry. 😁 I did not expect when I clicked on the video you'd have me balling like a baby with the beautiful purity of both of your exquisite vocals. 😍♥ I am so glad I clicked on the video. 🙌
Yesterday I heard an interview on NPR of this year's National Teacher of the Year. She mentioned that a student of hers made an arrangement of For Good and played it for her on guitar. As a teacher myself, I can imagine how such a tribute must have made her feel.❤❤❤
Thank you both, for delivering the male counterpart of this song from WICKED! That love transcends all, that whatever time we have in this reality of our lives, when shared with others at this level, a most fabulous gift in life has been realized. Call it a lesson leaned, or whatever way one may ascribe it.... to have known love, a strong bond of understanding, and/or a commitment of friendship through trials and tribulations.... is to have lived a purposeful lifer~! Your interpretation of this eloquent lyric is both balanced and elegant! Moved to tears- YES! And proud to share that emotion!
I never thought that I would hear a version of this beautiful song that would challenge the supremecy of Chenowith and Menzel, but here it is! Amazing!! I would love to hear a lot more of your songs.
This just showed up in my feed. This is one of my favorite musicals and I've seen a few different casts perform this. They've all been fantastic. I think though, this is the first time I've thought it rivaled the original Idina and Kristin performance. Really beautiful! ❤
Peter, I have listened to your duet a thousand times and each time it is more beautiful. You have a very special voice. Stay strong and keep rocking it out your way.
I realize that this has been up for a while, but I have to comment that I am nearing the end of a wonderful collaboration with someone who has become a dear friend as we have taught ballroom dance together for three and a half years... the bond that has grown between us is so beautifully depicted in these lyrics and so amazingly brought to life by these beautiful men and their incredible voices. I listen to it frequently and ... tears... more like a tsunami! A flow of tears and emotion and gratefulness for my friend and this rendition of this song is like no other I have experienced in my 71 years... thank you cannot touch how it has moved me.
I lost one of my dearest friends last year. And he loved Wicked and as we prepared for his memorial; I was looking for a song that would capture how felt about him. And then I listen to your version I knew I had found. thank you.
There are several beautiful renditions of this song on RU-vid, but this is my favorite because of the love expressed between the men in their facial expressions.
This performance is superb. This song always "does me in"--this version and the one by Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel. I'm always transported to joy and brought to tears. Thanks for your performance
I loved your version of this song. You both were awesomely amazing. When you sung this song I felt like you were singing it just for me. This is a song for everybody. I was disappointed that I did not find any other songs like this one that left me wanting to hear it over and over. I hope you make more songs like this one. CONGRATS 🎉🎉❤❤👊👊👍👍👏🏻👏🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌈🌈🌈
Oh my gosh! Goosebumps! This is one of my favorite songs and I have heard many different duets, but this gave me such a different feeling. So beautiful, peaceful, touching. Well done! ♥️♥️
I have chosen this song and this version for the reflection moment at my fathers funeral in January, the words are poignant and express my feelings perfectly. These 2 men should make an album. I would buy it
Absolutely the best duet performance of this beautiful song! Both voices are stunningly gorgeous!! As a Professional Opera/Musical Theatre singer and Voice Instructor, all I can say is WOW!! Thank you!!💞🎶💞
Now I have fallen in love he's great this great song is still the right song I love it. You 2 sing this song so perfectly. You sing it to each other. Please make more great music videos. Thank you.

Didn't realize until just now that this was such an emotional song. I have several people by whom I have been changed for good. Wow. Good job, guys. ☺️
