Join us for another adventure into the swamp where we sh**t some beavers and explore a drained swamp prior to planting Rice. Lot of information you might find helpful!
Enjoy your videos. Good info. I'm doing alot of the same stuff in my swamps. One difference is I don't kill the beavers. They are a pain in the ass at times but I would not have my beaver ponds without them.
Glad you are enjoying the videos! We have so many beavers, I try to take out a few each year to keep them under control but I certainly dont eradicate them. We have a farmer that looses access when the beavers are not under control so we have to do some removal at times. Thanks for watching!
I am nature dependent on flooding it, I can only take water off. I will let 4-5" stand in the more mature rice with no issue. 90 days for full maturity but the plant can withstand flooding up to 6-8" anytime after 60 days
@@Yellowlab247_NC_Outdoors thanks for the reply. One more thing, if you plant millet too early, will the seed fall off the head and regerminate in the ground? I would assume it wouldn’t do that if there was already water on the millet but on dry ground maybe. And I guess in the above response you meant the rice is considered “mature” when it is done growing all for except the seed head
@@nathanielchoate69 Yes it will! We often see new growth in the field before the opener and that is seed that has matured out, fallen and sprouted. See the same after burning, field seems to green up over the next few weeks with regrowth
