Ah man that's tough. Millet is going to grow a lot faster and may win the day. I am not versed in rice herbicides, but I am betting there is not much that kills millet but not rice unless it is a Clearfield variety of rice. I could be wrong
@@Yellowlab247_NC_Outdoors gotcha. Thanks. I’m just gonna let nature take its course and see what happens. I’ll probably spray the volunteer millet next year with roundup before I plant rice if the rice doesn’t end up doing too well
Very cool. I see you were really hot from all of that work. Re-ding my brown top today about killed me as I spread it with a bag spreader this time. That was a lot of walking in the hot sun.
How wrapped up in red bugs and ticks were yall when you got done? I have to go out in long pants treated in Permethin or I get wrapped up every time! Good job though, been thinking about doing this. We are in NC also
None reported! We have a good path in there and once you’re in the swamp it’s not bad. I got Rocky Mountain fever a month ago from a tick in Chatham county, that sucked
I checked some of the areas I sprayed with IMOX and Clethodim. My sunflowers look great and very clean. I do not believe the Imox is killing the ragweed though. Turned some of it yellow but did not kill it. I cannot afford Beyond or Cadre. Have you observed these same results.
Thank you ! Not sure yet, we’ll see how she’s doing. We train daily , just have to see where she is at. A lot of the places we hunt are quick, fast dark wood duck hunts, which can be difficult on a young dog.
I sure hope so. If we can keep the dog hunters and poachers out and let the ducks rest, it should be good. I will keep you updated, another planting video dropping soon
I put out 75-80 pounds of Nitrogen per acre, so that is 4-5 bags of 34-0-0 per acre. Stay tuned for upcoming video, we plant and fertilize an acre of rice
Its dry dry here. We need a good slow soaking rain for sure. Papa always said dry weather well worry you to death but wet weather will ruin you. No matter what that winter wheat top sow is always an insurance policy lol.
Hey man nice video. I just drained my pond right before seeing this haha. I’d imagine I can still plant the rice without my pond having water in it. Is there any other way you go about doing it when the water is already off the pond?
You are fine, you can spread it right onto the mud flat. We planted one today that exact way and it should be fine. We have done it both ways with success. Stay tuned for the next few videos, more coming!
Love and hate them! Wouldn’t have those ponds without them, but now that I have water control I don’t need them lol 🫡 so long beavers , thank you for your service
@@LC-bc2gb in the duck hunting world we do a lot of summertime land preparation to attract more ducks in the winter. That involves draining ponds, planting food and controlling beavers. This is a quick summary of that process!
Yep, we need rain. I’m going to start irrigating tomorrow. My replanted sunflowers are getting fertilizer and water, too. My millet is doing good. My sweet corn looks fantastic.
Thank you for doing these videos. Very helpful. Its almost time for Post emergent spraying here for me. I have the IMOX and Clethodim but I cannot find any Nitro Surf around here. Is there a substitute I can use? Thanks for any help.
How many weeks after you planted did you spray, or did you just go by the size of the sunflower? I’m doing a field with just about the same chemicals and sunflower this year! Thanks for the video!
Really its the size of the weeds and grasses. Ideally you spray before they get more than 4-6" tall for best control! Usually want the sunflowers 30" or less so the tractor doesnt damage the plants as you pass over IF you are boom spraying
