Great video Corey. I have loved Perl in the past and up until now have loved Adams Graphene Tire but just recently purchased Darkside. One cannot go wrong with Carpro products. The trim looks like it turned out great for you.
Thank you so much! I want to start doing that more in our videos where applicable. Get at least the first update or two into the original video. -Corey
I use dark side on my tyres and I get 3 months of protection is really easy and economical bc I don’t have to use a lot and every time i clean the tyres with tyre cleaner is still there is strong against chemicals
Yeah i was amazed by the chemical resistance also, man i did a DEEP clean on my wheels (BMW owner here so i know what super giga brake dust is) with really strong chemicals (excluding acid i need to use it all, Iron remover, Waterspot remover, Heavy APC sometimes , all kinds of wheelcleaners) and i was sure i will need to reapply, it was dressed like over a month ago and after the was it was still black, clean, beading and uniform (no sploches or nuthin') Damn it's a great product.
I noticed the same coloring on my Tesla door trim, it’s common from the touchless wash chemicals because it’s anodized aluminum. Put a little bit of polish on a microfiber towel and will get it right off.
You are exactly right! Well, not about the material but about the polish. We discuss this in another video - great pro tip for cleaning window seals. Just gotta make sure to sue the right polish. CARPRO Reflect works great. Some will stain quickly. Thanks for adding that tip!
Hmm that's a good trail to follow about the touchless car washes, i had this problem on my cousins car and was wondering HOW the h.. did it appear like leaked gasoline or something and why. He does go to touchless a lot so i think it's chemical burn.
Applied it to my plastic trim and it looked great. Until my next wash when I went to towel dry my car and the trim turned my towels black. Terrible wash experience.. never using darkside on trim again lol
Don't use DarkSide or Perl, use DLUX for everything that is plastic. I have coated a clients van with hard textured plastic and it stayed dark for a year long, without the van getting washed once.
Dlux is incredible but has it has caveats for use on new plastic. You can read about this on the description page of our website if you click on Dlux. We also discuss in one of our Dlux videos.
I love the end result of my darkside but have never had a dressing sling so much, ever . I put about 2 pumps on a tire, let sit, aggressively try to buff in/off with a microfiber towel and then next time I drive I can actually see visual liquid close to the tread from the centrfical forces. I don't even understand how it's possible given I've spent so much time with a dry towel to buff it in/ off. I then have to stop twice every 10 mins into the first drive to wipe the tire before it ends down the car. Not sure what I could do different
Hmmm, that is so interesting!! Could be the ribs of your particular tires or something because we haven't heard this issue. I would do the following as it is my method and I have never gotten sling. 20+ minutes AFTER you have applied, go ahead and come back and wipe off and do it with a towels that gets into whatever ribs and valleys your tire has. Maybe shoot us an email with pictures of your tire for anything else we can think of if that doesn't work.
Darkside is the GOAT, i just don't like the pump - it's all slimey (the bottle) and i think it leaks, so maybe in trasport, im shocked that you dont wear gloves holding the bottle, i need to keep mine in a plastic bag, still this tire dressing is godlike tier. Cheers!
Also i was wondering, worked on my cousin Mercedes and it had the same strange ,,deterioration" that you had on your window seals, did you found out or know what is it exactly Corey? Just wondering how to tackle such stuff in the future, or is it not fixable and in need of a retrofit (that's what i told my cousin as i tried everything on it and it wouldn't budge 😮💨)
@@victoryensured7137 You can fix it with a really light polishing and regular maintenance. Also, just rubbing darkside on it real firm with a microfiber towel after each wash should remove it as well over time. Just keep at it every week or so. If its not making any difference then polishing it with CARPRO Reflect, wipe off with Eraser, and then maintain regularly with Darkside or Ultima Tire & Trim Guard.
@@SkyCarCare No no, im from EU so sadly shipping costs ordering from you guys would kill me slowly :( If i where in US i definetly would buy some stuff from you guys like the whole Microfibre Madness lineup and a lot of Carpro stuff i love, i really like your website (the info and how to maintain section especially) and your pirces seem fair! Also i like your helpfullnes (is that a word? sry not a native eng speaker :) and you guys have some great tutorial and testing vids! Cheers!
@@SkyCarCare Hmm tried polishing but woudn't budge, tried with Ultracut with wool pad but - nothing. Didn't even budge. I think it's permament :/ Still didn't try a dressing on it (ill try Carpro Perl on one side and Darkside on other!) Thank you!
Yes, it is always best to clean window trim before applying any protectant. This window trim was in fact cleaned prior to this, although we could have used more aggressive cleaners.
A light polishing with CARPRO Reflect, then immediately wipe off with eraser or IPA and seal with Ultima Tire & Trim Guard. This works a treat! There are a few other polishes out there that will fix it as well and some that will make a mess. -Corey
If it rains immediately after install then of course that will affect durability. And even on my plastics the DarkSide did not hold up as well as PERL which was surprising. This is why we do tests! When it comes to Tires though. We have had DarkSide last 3+ months in countless rainstorms and even a hurricane down here in florida. If you want something longer lasting that will last for years, then a coating like CQUARTZ Dlux would be your option for trim.
@@SkyCarCare Me too! :) It's really pretty amazing, i haven't experienced something like this ever :) I used an old product (Cartec Vinyl TP-49 i think) yeaars ago, and it was pretty ok but it had this high gloss wet look, i kinda didn't like that but thought - hey, better that than nothing, man did chemicals evolve over the years!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I respectfully disagree. Nothing keeps the tires from discoloring while staying black and cleaning off super easy while ALSO being super easy to apply. But to each their own!
@@SkyCarCare you sound like a bought and paid for schill. Just like all these other industry you tubers. Permashine is far superior if you want to spend money like you do on dark side. But good ol superior products aqua gloss applied correctly works just as well and can be diluted. Hell I have found jay leno products at Walmart that perform as well as this over priced trash.
@@traviscrown9189 Thanks for sharing your opinion. I have never been paid a dime by ANY manufacturer for these videos but thanks for caring! I hope you have a really great day and enjoy the coming weekend. Cheers!
