Depends on how much you love it Benny. I had a 90 Ram Charger back in the day, you talk about a sluggish pig. It was a 318 LA block with TBI. I would really look at the transmission if you do buy it, if they hit it hard enough to bend that shaft, look for cracks in the transmission case and transfer case. 🧐
That ram charger is well worth restoring, wish i lived down there i would of veen hauling her out to my garage, and the deal with the air conditioning is factory if you seen it has the factory vents on dash. Benny get it its worth 1600 , you could have a fun ride or fix n triple your money.
I worked for a land survey company from the mid 80’s to early 90’s and we had a ‘78 Plymouth Trailduster and a ‘78 Ramcharger both with 360’s. We beat those trucks mercilessly, I personally caught air with the Traildusterand about 400 lbs of equipment in the back. She took it like a champ.
I'm a 25 year equipment operator for pick n pull in California. I always ask management for longer forks to help stop damage to the vehicles. Response from management is pick n pull has a standard forks to use .
Offer 1000, see were they go with that. 1899 no way. But start low or if u feel lucky 900 too start. They got it for peanuts. Good luck hope u work a good deal if u really want it. Rick in Detroit
It will require a good deal of time and resources, but for a thousand dollars, it could be worth it. That Dodge has 1 more life left, hopefully someone will accept the challenge.
Whoa Nelley, 4x4 and may be soon out the door. Plymouth also had the Trail Duster from 1974 to 1981 and it was the same vehicle. I just got back from Wisconsin the other day for work and I did the Zephyr video comment one night after dinner and swimming, so I was a bit tired when I did that one. LOL. We got the VIN, we win: W for 4WD conventional chassis, 1 for 1/2 ton rated, 0 for Ramcharger SUV, B for 6,001 to 10,000 # Gross Vehicle Weight Rating, F for 360 V8 with two barrel, 8 for 1978 model year, S for Warren Truck, Warren, MI assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The Warren Truck facility was also called "Dodge City" for many years and still operates today, having been opened in 1938. We got the tag, we can brag: AW1 for Ramcharger 1/2 ton SUV, possible DT3441/RR7 Tapestry Red Sunfire exterior paint, the VIN is at the bottom left of the tag and was decoded above. No, this had a 360 V8 in it originally and I would guess it still does have one. That looks like factory installed air conditioning if I had to take a guess. It may have been removed at some point for some reason. Whoa Nelley, 360 and gotta go. In rust we do not trust. MOPAR not going very far. That's it, time to quit. "AW" body looking a bit shoddy. Torqueflite soon to be out of sight. Sunfire Red may soon be going to bed. Possibly going to be flat and that's that. "That Girl Could Sing" (Jackson Browne/Hold Out, 1980) and this one restored could bring some "bling". Possibly might get squished and all of the MOPAR faithful, UTG, many here, possibly Benny and to a slight degree the Google Man will all be pissed.
Also most people would not know the drive shaft is damaged but u do. Gives u more amo, too work with. No 1500 no don't. I bet they gave 250 to whoever dropped it off. Lower. If u like it. Save ur money. If they are to hi walk away see what they do. Work it.
It was still there yesterday, that's telling. Like I said they got it cheap. They never pay high dollar for parts or cars unless they really want it for whatever there reasons, but if u have the money and room lolol u said. Offer low see what they say. Like a women they can only say no. Lolo
NICE! BUT WHERE'S IT AT!? Looks just like my 79 Dodge RamCharger 360 4x4, that I got for 2k in SoCal. (it had been sitting abandoned in this deceased owners backyard for at least 20 years!) the engine was froze so I took the motor out to have it rebuilt for 2300, but the guy lost a lot of the old parts and pullys! so I had so look all over for the missing parts, but ALMOST got it running!?
Good stuff Benny. Thank you!!! The way that drive shaft looked, the aluminum transfer case may be cracked!!! Stay safe my friend and God bless you and yours !!! Eddy
Looks like a 360 in that thing but I'm just going by the big 2 bbl carb thats on it because the 360 has the big 2 bbl and 318 has the small 2 bll carb. I have seen many with the 400 big block in them that is got to be the first in a long time I saw a 78 with a small block in it. looks like it has the NP203 full time transfer case too
Nice old dodge. Anyone else surprised that those mini coopers are so cheap? You can’t find anything that new around here in western New York for twice that price. Wonder what’s wrong with them ?
Yes, $1500 is OK, get her to run and stop then flip her or keep her. You know that the last owner was trying there best to take care of her is when you find a bottle of oil under the hood!😎
Nah, unfortunately it looks a little too far gone. Looks like EVERYTHING needs work, from the wipers to the driveshaft. I'd be worried they wrecked the trans case the way that driveshaft is bent. If someone really wanted too, and had lots of time and money, it could be saved, but even at $1500, it wouldn't be worth it in my opinion. It was a really nice vehicle when new though. Too bad it was left go for so long.
