1960 Bonneville Factory 389 with factory 4 speed auto transmission, Custom Air Ride, Reverse light Delete, Lower Trim Delete. Only 24,015 Hard Top Built in 1960 Twice as rare as a Chevy Impala
My mother bought hers in 1960 for $3500. She gave it to me for my college grad but forgot that she did and sold it for $500 in 2000 ... a sad day for me. Me bad for not getting the title changed right away. So much fun in that car, it carried 1 weeks worth of firewood in the trunk or 5-6 people in the trunk when going to the drive-in movies ... 🤣🤣
57 and 58 Bonnevilles were sought after by collectors in the early seventies while the 59 and 60 wasn't....or at least not to the same level. As a result of that, these are pretty rare today in nice original condition. Hot rods/customs such as this are nice and are what most people are wanting to buy these days but "rare" is a term that might no longer apply. 24,000 hardtops seems a high number and would have to include other models than the top of the line Bonneville and perhaps the then popular 4 door hardtop. The four speed hydromatic was a very good trans and was standard equiptment on many larger gm cars and GMC trucks.
The terminology gets a bit confusing. This car isn’t a coupe, it’s a two door hardtop. A coupe would have a B pillar. To my knowledge there are no two door hardtops being built today due to the safety nazis who have labeled them unsafe in a rollover accident.
Cars with the springs cut out and sitting on the ground make me SICK...Everyone thinks they know more than GM or Ford.. Mopar..nothing but hacked up JUNK...
