Whoever told you that is wrong. There's no difference in taxes for foreigners than there is for French citizens. I'll be generous and say they perhaps got confused by the taxe foncière being higher for a second home (which applies to French people who own more than one house too), rather than suggesting it was someone who's fed up of foreigners buying houses in France.
@@theresaaragon7190 I haven't heard of higher taxes on property sales to non French people but I did read there are massive inheritance tax issues for example on French properties if you are a non French owner and say left it in a will to a family member. I would investigate all the tax scenarios officially first if I was to move.
