Went to Holy Island in Northumberland once and had Nettle Soup really vibrant green, the monks made it as part of there daily routine in days gone by and I can see probably a lot off effort in preparation with the nettle seed! Good info x
I find it easiest to take whole stems with the seeds attached and remove the seed bunches before drying. I end up with a big pile of seed bunches which makes it easier to dry. Once dried i put a handful at a time in a metal sieve over a saucepan and gently move the seed bunches around. The seeds are separated and I'm left with a fibrous mass and seeds in the pan. Adding to honey, it makes a great energizer with breakfast. Not really good for sleeping.
What a beautiful video thank you for sharing 💚 a question if I may. Is it OK to snip the seeds during the forage instead of taking the leaves home too? 🤔 xxxx
No at this stage of the plants cycle the leaves are actually not edible anymore, the plants chemistry changes after it starts to flower. Only consume nettle leaves before it flowers and seeds ❤
