I didn't know your content but i give it a shot and did your TR PF as leaguestarter and it was a blast. One the best and fastest Leaguestarters i ever had. Thank you. I will def try this build!!
Wow i actually watched the whole thing. Great guide! Think ill try this out once i get my deadeye to lv 98+ and farmed a bit more currency, seems like a neat build. Subbed
I just recently found this build. As usual I'm late to the party. I've tried everything this league (This is my 8th build) and I've finally found what I was looking for. Tanky, tanky, tanky. And has very solid dps. Can finally run t17s without getting one shot constantly. Thank you for this!
Psa to those who want to still play this build in 3.25. It still works. You need to play divine flesh from a xibaqua jewel(slotting it on the right side of the tree by the power charge node it will give you two nodes for +max chaos res), switch out the ultimatum shield for the font of thunder to convert your cold and fire to lightning, use a watchers eye for cold and fire taken as lightning, use a topaz flask, and use the light of meaning with chaos damage. The build still works well and im clearing wave 15 sim easily
@@PathofEvening yeah this was my all time favorite build thanks to you so i really wanted to try and make this work this league. Still have 100k phys max hit with frost shield and guard skills up
It is highly recommended to use Soul Ascension to farm uber BOSS, it is very cheap and powerful. It can provide amazing casting speed, which greatly saves the time of farm uber.
Super stoked to see your video on this! Have mine setup like aero did in his video with stasis prison and it does not feel comfortable at all for me. The random one shots due to the lack of tankiness is really unfortunate. Looking forward to switching the build around to this :)
Excellent! This should definitely be a lot more budget-friendly. Recommending a unique as rare as Stasis Prison in a build guide is crazy. It's a cool item and recoup is a decent defensive mechanic, but there are 10 of them available in trade right now. Even if you expand out to items that have been listed in the last week but are offline now, that's maybe 30-40. Damage conversion and less damage taken mods from Doppelganger's Guise makes you much less susceptible to being one-shot. It can still happen, that's the nature of T17's right now, but for pretty everything other than super-painful T17 mod overlaps, this build can basically just eat the hit and keep fighting. Sirus' Desolation pools completely disable regen, so definitely don't play around with those, either.
Yo amazing that was aexactly what i was looking for!!! I love your attitude. You just seem to have fun and enjoy different stuff. This league i couldnt stand all the fomo and negativiti because i just played what seemed fun to me and was having a blast. Keep it up glad to see you sticking around
Just made this build over the past day; I absolutely love it. One thing I can't stand though is making sure to hit haste and activate it; the damn energy bar just goes crazy and I miss it often. I'm actually considering running haste in the enlighten setup and run malevolence on the divine blessing; they're both the same reservation cost; the lack of move speed is kind of bothering me lol Outside of that I love the build; keep up the great work; thats 3 of your build guides I've used as a new player to great success and I plan on running toxic rain pathfinder as my league starter next time around; so thanks a ton.
Another option if you want more suppression and/or flask improvement is an Impossible Escape in radius of Magebane. This gives you the opportunity to pick up Reflexes, Profane Chemistry, and Exceptional Performance. These together will give you 10% suppression, 7% increased max life, 30% increased life recovery from flasks, 1 life flask charge every 3 seconds, and 25% skill effect duration (plus some evasion stuff we don't really care about). Not bad if you're okay with giving up a jewel socket.
Isn't this done by DireGray in the last league? This build was actually further optimized by Tots YT (the fella who facetanked 6man maven uber shaper) already.
wow youve made exactly the kinda video i needed to see where to go next with my PFFR. from the time i commented last on ur video, ive scaled the build up really well (def not as well as you tho) if you want to get even more tanky, a cwdt setup with frost shield makes the tankiness go really wild if you dont have progenesis. I think with progenesis frost shield is a lil overkill so replacing is probably worth it, when i get mine ill def replace that link with frostblink and faster casting like you. my next upgrade before prog is def going to be a watchers eye with good mods and awakened gems. to get poison chance up, poison chance jewels are super nice and so are poison chance on hit tattoos ( but they are int based and the cast speed wands usually have a high int requirement) but ya w/o prog, w/o awakened gems, and w/ crappy +2 w/ cast speed, im sorta blasting through most maps super easy (8 mod corrupted t16, w/ beyond, ritual, and high map mod effect), i tried a soulrend gem switch with returning projectiles, and thats super good for t16 clear but def not in anything harder. face tank regular elder/shaper and maven fights. i use malevelonce blessing instead of haste, cuz haste MS is just so nice all the time. but ya, i think ill def try to go and try do ubers for the first time with this build.
Excellent! Good thinking with the Frost Shield, that's a really good way to extract some defensive value from ES when using Mahuxotl's. Soulrend is pretty fun, and the cat animation on it is also great. It doesn't pack the punch that FR does, but it doesn't have the (normally huge) downside of eating a bunch of health with every cast, so pretty good for easy-breezy t16 maps!
@@PathofEvening I think that if you have a nimis, a soulrend gem swap would be pretty comparable in damage. But ya before nimis, soulrend is way outclassed in dmg by FR.
Thanks for this man! most helpful explanation on that shield so far, and I've been scratching my head with it for a long time; I have one potentially stupid question though, how are you making any use of the regen with vaal-pact running? Did something change over the last year, or am I just really stupid?
Nope, it's just confusing! Life Flasks count as recovery, which is a different stat from regen, because PoE needs to be as confusing as possible! This is why you can run No Regen maps with no issue, but Less Recovery Rate of Life/ES is build-disabling.
I really recomend using the eternal Life flask unstead of divine, gives more regen/s, and also use "Life recovery from flask affected by vitality" my version hit 7k Life recovery from flask. Also simulacrum would not be good with this build cause of this 3 points, 1- low aoe for fast clear on simulacrum; 2- u NEED be ailm imune since simu also apply sap, britle and scorch; 3- simulacrum has a mod wich remove our flasks charges Ps: u doing the dot dps wrong, we can't overlap more then 5 projs on the same mob, and pob calc dps with 7 projs because of GMP
Part 2: use a megalomaniac with enduring composure, since we are self hitting this ill Grants perma enduring charges, wich means Max effect of imortal call, also look for a boots with +1 enduring charge, the sec mod on the megalo could be born of chaos (+3 Max chaos res), septic speels (poison change ans cast speed), flow of Life(Max Life and dot), spiked conc (flask effec and alc genius to hi 90 fire res)
Part 3: just the less phys and chaos dam taken from doppelganger affect this build, since the mahuxtol says "have no Life regen" wich means we are not regen 10%Max Life/s The mod from your watcher eye "Life gain on hit by vitality doesnt affetc you too, petrified blood says "your Life CANNOT BE RAISED ABOVE LOW LIFE, others than Life flask". Plss pay more attention when u release a guide build with so much wrong infos
Don't really play HC, but the first thing that comes to mind would be skipping Annihilation's Approach in favor of rare boots from the start. The potential to get destroyed if something turns off your regen is too great.
I’m just trying to make the initial version without progynesis and if I don’t press the life flask I die, can this be automated somehow, is it very inconvenient to press it once every 6 seconds?
after finding like 5 differing builds i was down to play i found out all of them have multiple mirros worth of gear. so I think ill build this for now until i can farm said gear, kinda tired of my lacerate league starter
This looks really nice. Good job exile! Could you explain doppleganger vs cloak of flames? In general, in poe ninja dopplegangers seem to have more ehp than cloak, lacking phys hit pool for better chaos(elemental) mitigation. Reddit says its better against DoTs and cloak against hits. Is that so? Or are phys hits just less of a threat because of "extra % as ele damage" being the real danger while max phys hit at some point is just "good enough". Is flask sustain enough to not concider adorned+recoup setup? I see you do not use it, but Ive been told you pretty much do need two of three of defiance of destiny, lots of recoup and enduring life flask, better paired with bloodnotch to really recover all the shotgunning at t17. Didnt get to compare myself because cant do t17s yet.
Defiance is good, but you have to make up for a lot of lost power if you aren't running Replica Dragonfang. You lose +3 levels on your FR gem, Res Efficiency, and Reduced Stat requirements. It's a pretty big sacrifice for that defensive value. Recoup is a great stat with FR. You can definitely justify pathing up just one more point on the right-hand side to take the Circle of Life wheel. Cloak of Flame is a decent budget option, but Doppelganger's Guise is already fairly cheap and it offers substantially more damage reduction. Cloak is weaker for both max hit and damage reduction, and because it doesn't have Evasion, it will make hitting Suppression cap more difficult, too. Basically, Cloak is bait. Finally, Adorned is good, but it's very expensive and this build already easily hits the DoT cap and can face-tank Shaper Beams. You can definitely push the defenses even further and do some truly insane stuff in T17's, and a min-maxed Adorned setup will help with that, but it's not cheap!
This build already shifts and reduces a lot of the Phys damage taken, Cloak is good for a build that does not invest this much in Phys mitigation. Defiance is not good with this version that uses Petrified Blood, wich disables life gain above 50%. For that version you'd be better off with a Stasis Prison, but would need to make up for 15-20% more damage you get from Dragonfang. I've seen an adorned version on PoeNinja with Prison Stasis+defiance of destiny, wich seems pretty cool and should be more tanky than Petrified Blood+Doppelganger.
I made a similar build concept on Assassin using a CoC setup, because I just really wanted to use mahuxotl and get FR going on a life-based build. I think that yours is objectively better in a few ways, which is REALLY impressive! Only thing I'm not sure about is the fact that Mahuxotl prevents life regeneration with the line "You have no Life Regeneration" Is this bypassed by Doppelganger's somehow?
Two big notes about this skill and video is that NOT ALL projectiles will hit 1 enemy. It's very hard to get 5 hits, i've tested this a lot using self poison and checking for self poison stacks. Usually it hits between 3-4, sometimes 5, but that was tested with a lot of inc. AoE from an Occultist power charge stacking version. Plus, your CANNOT recover life above 50% with Petrified Blood on besides from life flask. GMP is good for a very high number of mob count, but that can be swapped for Vile Toxins (green socket) or Efficacy/Cruelty (if you can get 21% from on hit damage). So any life gain on hit and recover life on kill/flask on use or Enduring Cry will not help in that regard. That's why a good second Watcher's eye mod is Inc. Life Recovery from Flasks while under Vitality, it's about 500-600 more life recovery. Also, i personally prefer getting ailment immunity from flasks with stormshroud (avoid being shocked + inc effect on Ruby Flask) and getting pseudo stun immunity from immutable force. For more damage, you can get +1 curse with 1 point on Infused and getting Punishment on either CWDT, self-cast or Arcanist brand (wich i think is the best as you can use lvl 20 with full effect with Despair too). Even though it seems to be DoT capped, more damage can be nice if you're doing T17s. You deal more damage to the bosses and some rares with resistances are annoying as well. edit: i highly recommend getting reduced curse effect from jewel implicits
There are some bigger bosses that you can absolutely hit with 5+ projectiles, but for humanoid-sized enemies, yeah, getting above 5 projectile hits per cast is near impossible.
@@michaelpiraino9530 i'm still finishing the crafts, but i use progenesis in my PF FR and it's very much worth it. Load up his PoB and untick Progenesis. It's like 46% more eHP. But you also have to compare with other trackers like max res, regen, HP and armour to try and figure out whats missing and whats easier to improve upon for your budget.
@@michaelpiraino9530 best sources of damage i can think of are wand (bought crafted at around 30 div), i have a circle of nostalgia with inc. chaos damage while herald of agony + herald effect with poisons deal damage faster (27%), 4th power charge with punishment, +2 gem lvl chest corruption(18%), perandus pact with chaos damage (11%) and good jewels with dot multi and poison deals damage faster (9%), as well as watcher's eye with poison deals damage faster (12%)
I graveyard crafted that wand and got Reduced attr req, +1 chaos, +1 spell, 34% chaos multi fractures on it. :D Maybe that actually was good for this build. Only 161 int req on it now.
checked PoB, no, not uber dot capped, would it be possible at like 1mirror budget? ( I have never played anything else than EA ele, RF or SRS guardian) -.-
how much currency (ballpark) are we talkin about to get into ubers/t17 farming comfortably with this? looks stronger than tr pf from the vid. sitting on maybe 50div rn and contemplating... already have progenisis btw.
This looks like something captain lance made a few leagues ago as a pvp idea. Are you still vulnerable to fire penetration though? IIRC lance solved most of the pen problem, but mentioned that generic pen still works against his build. To counter that he got some insane kind of regen. The only thing his build was vulnerable to was huge phys DOT.
Probably is, Lance is prolific. You can overcap Fire res to help with Exposure, but pen will get ya. Fwiw, eating Exarch balls with the rune debuff was no problem!
@@PathofEvening I was looking into this a little further, and it turns out you're wrong here actually. There is a way to get: "fire resistance cannot be penetrated" mod. It's new to me so don't ask me how but I *think* it was a grasping mail specific armour mod. So that would actually totally solve the pen issue entirely. I'll have to look some more, because I've never played these type of builds.
@@johnturtle6649 idk i can stand in 6 U. Shaper phys degens while he slams abd tank it on this build. Can also afk uber exarch ball phase no problem on this build. I dont think fire pen is a problem at all
Great video! im currently playing a cloak of flame variation, its absolutely insane. Was messing in PoB and greater volley seems to be a lot of damage over deadly ailments and void manipulation, any reason we dont use it?
It's hard to hit regular-sized targets with more than 5 projectiles. For big bosses, hitting with 6 or 7 is possible, but ramping up to the level that both GMP and GVolley puts out wouldn't actually hit most enemies.
Steel Trickster is strong. It's also WAY more expensive to get up to full strength. It's an attack build, so it's pretty good for easy mapping but super-duper janky to set up for killing tanky rares & bosses (put down totems, apply buffs, apply more buffs, use Focus, etc.). On the other hand, you can scale its damage way beyond the DoT cap, and Poison can never, ever do more than 38 million-ish DPS (after enemy mitigation). Ultimately, even with the DoT cap, Poison Pathfinder is absolutely burying all content, so how much more damage do you really need? As for tankiness, they're both pretty beefy!
@@PathofEvening Already starting set it up before prices going up. Also I play poets pen soulrend trickster rn, it feels more like a melee build because of the nimis. Can I get your opinion comparing these build and ur pf?
How viable do you think it'd be to leaguestart this build? I'm not sure I wanna start a new character over this late in necropolis, but I really wanna try this out. Possible hiccups if tattoos don't come back in the next one?
Looks very promising if they don't nerf T17 so I'll need a build that can do it next league. Any suggestions on replacing Necro league content stuff (that jewel) with common stuff for next league?
Definitely something to consider. The life isn't mandatory, it's just a nice little bonus. Maybe they will put in some good alternatives next league, otherwise that's probably just a spot for a defensive unique jewel like Ancestral Vision.
How do you deal with DOT dmg? For Lightning and Cold DOT dmg, because one time I had a build with negative Lightning res and I just could not play against Harbinger's because one single hit of DOT lightning damage could One Hit me.
Is there like an estimate cost to this build? This my first league assuming i have to buy everything. Got sick of animate guardian dying on my necro wanna try something new
O no I just started putting together your toxic rain build D: Which do you think is better for T17's? Ok I have decided to try sell all the gear and build this, looks crazy!
Can you speak to the difference between Soulrend and Forbidden Rite? I have both gems, started with FR and moved over to Soulrend which anecdotally felt like way better damage and my pob also said it was significantly more. I've read through the descriptions of both gems and it feels like FR just does less since it's so hard to get more than about 4k health. All I can think is that there's something I don't understand about their scaling or interactions. I'd love to know more. The only diff in my build is that I have both a defiance of destiny and a replica dragonfang and I swap between them when stuff starts murdering me Also this build should come with a PSA that you can die in any encampment that isn't your hideout. I've died twc in mine encampment and in the graveyard through being inattentive with my boots on. I've had to learn to turn off my boots if I'm going to tab out.
Fair point on the boots! Soulrend is a combination direct damage/DoT skill, and it fires standard projectiles that pierce all targets. Forbidden Rite is actually more like a mortar, which isn't really a skill type that exists in PoE, but all of FR's projectiles hit the ground and detonate there, and they have no further interactions like forking, chaining, or piercing. The issue with Soulrend is that multiple projectiles from a single cast can't hit the same target twice, so you're going to get less single-target DPS without GMP, and even so, you're capping around the 10M DPS range with a poison setup like this. Forbidden Rite is different. It can hit most human-sized targets with about 5 projectiles each, potentially more for large enemies like the boss of Fortress Map. Because of this, it deals substantially more damage, despite dealing less damage per projectile.
@@PathofEvening I've been wondering about the diff for ages. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain. I was so confused I almost made a reddit post :)
Happy to help! They're both really fun skills that build really differently. The most important thing is that they each have Kitty Cat MTX, so they're great!
bro i am new to poe is i am just understanding the mechanics, at what point or what are the core things to start using forbidden rite? because i am trying but i am killing myself x.x help me please
Are u interested in using tainted pact amulet for (chaos damage taken leeched as life) + a mod on flask %damage taken leech as life Will buff ur defence to the moon i am looking to use tainted pact for so long but cant find a build
The only issue is that Petrified Blood interferes with Leech, and because of the rework to Resistance Flasks in Patch 3.24, there is no point in dropping it to run Purity of Fire instead. It's easily the best defensive aura option, but it prevents any non-flask type of life restoration above 50% health.
Chance to Avoid Poison and Debuffs Expire Faster both brick your damage. Reduced Effect of Auras, -% Max Res, Reduced Recovery Rate of Life/ES, and Reduced Flask charges interfere with your defense. Everything else is good to go!
So i started building this thinking i heard the cost in the vid... But realised you get to the cost section but don't elaborate much at all on the full cost at all, just on one/two items. RIP. Probably would be a good idea to show the pre-investment vs post investment in the POB. (cos ome of the uniques seem to tie into making sure FR doesn't kill you - and they seem to cost a pretty penny too). Would be great to see better in-depth idea of what you can build UNTIL you get to the finished version. Will have to look elsewhere for this unfortunately.
If we state specific prices for the whole build in videos, then people who don't understand the economy will fluctuate start coming for us in the comments. Big no thanks on that.
@@PathofEvening Understand where you're coming from. I think maybe a ballpark of what you spent and an estimate to get into it would look like with the caveat of "at the time of the recording". (Lots of people add the caveat and that's understandable. The Market's always gonna move around and change)
When I have all of the auras running, i need to press my life flask to run vitality, but i cant run vitality + haste at the same time, its either one or the other. From what I can see, I have your item and gem setup, any thoughts?
Holy relic is a better all-rounder since it can do mapping and bossing well. This is overall a better bosser because of the damage and face tank nature but slower map clear.
Progenesis is the big cost of the build, and it's not 100% mandatory for it to function. Beyond that, figuring out how much you want to spend and where is up to you!
Not able to see where the max chaos and fire res comes except from small cluster , divine flesh and ruby flask. I have only 83 max chaos and 84 max fire😢
@PathofEvening Okay but the dragonfangs flight is already way too expensive....any options that don't cost a huge amount? Also the same question, but about progenesis....that thing is more than the entire rest of the build combined. :(
Not got annihilation boots or pride but put I think everything else together 40/50 I use forbidden rite once it drains every bit health what main thing I’m missing
Finally figured out my mana issue I switched a jewel but left other keystone active which basically killed my mana sorted sort of only got 6 mana spare with all buffs on
Seems that this is quite carried by a Progenesis, I don't have one yet :( I'm so much squishier compared to before my respec from PF PConc with 100% phys as ele and Defiance ammy
@@PathofEvening It really didn't :D now that I have it I can skip Defiance. And I got lucky on first double corrupt of chest getting +2 Aoe and proj gems :D
i didnt really know if i heard correctly but can this be used without progenesis. i have a defiance of destiny and was thinking i could use that for now!
Yeah, it can. It's not as tanky, obviously, but it will function. You can use a regular Amethyst flask, or you can fix your Chaos res with gear and use a Quicksilver. The extra magic flask will allow you to cancel out curses, which is pretty good.
It will make you insanely tanky, and it has great synergy with Petrified Blood. The downside is that it will incur a big drop in damage, and make fitting in auras & hitting your Int requirement more difficult. It's a viable alternative!
@@PathofEvening I see, I have been binged watching your content and you don't seem to press your flasks upon cooldown while explaining stuff like on this video.
Are you using a macro on your potion? Cause its ticking whilet your reading menus is ther a way to automate it? (I run this setup myself and the hp pot is bugging me atm haha)
Totems are an extremely different build. You would want to start as a Templar in most cases, so it's just completely different in the fundamental construction. You'd also be the third person on the PoE.ninja leaderboards in this league above level 93 playing FR Totems. This interaction was very strong in the first league it was released (Expedition), but was nerfed in the next league and hasn't been particularly good since then. As for mines, FR scales a lot of its damage based on the caster's health, and since mines count the mine as the source, rather than the player, you lose out on tons of possible damage scaling.
Make sure you're counting at least 10 Wither stacks and that you're looking at all primary projectiles hitting, not just one. Also check the Calcs tab to be sure you're at 100% Chance to Poison!
I'm sorry for the stupid question but do you just spam click the health flask or is that actually auto casting? If it is auto casting, how do you do that
This build is absolutely hilarious and a lot of fun to play. Thank you for that :). Maybe you or others could help me with my build. I was able to get all the items but I can't even come close to your damage and I have another problem. I can't use all auras... I can either use all but Malevolence or if I use Malevolence I can't use Arctic Armour. It would be great if someone could help me :). I could share my pob link aswell.
There are a lot of possible causes. Make sure you're not comparing 1 Projectile to All Projectiles, have 100% Chance to Poison, check your gem level, support gem setup, weapon, amulet, etc.
Can forbidden rite even hit a single target with more than 5 projectiles? Not sure if endless munitions will do much. Also getting way over dot cap to uber dot cap is really nice for 17s obviously. All the tank mods multiplicatively stack. Nice build ill probably give this a try.
It depends a bit on the size of the enemy. For regular rares and humanoid bosses, probably not. It has a bit of the Toxic Rain design where adding more projectiles causes them to all spread out further, but it's not as severe, and you can compensate by getting more increased AoE. For big enemies like the boss of Fortress, those bad boys are eating every single projectile you toss their way. They're just too fat! Looking at footage of a Fortress clear right now, that robot is eating about 56 cats per second and absolutely melting. The biggest downside of a poison build is the DoT cap, but since it's based on the post-mitigation damage dealt to the enemy, that means you can just push your damage way past the cap, and then when you run into enemies that have Chaos/Wither Resist, or you run Ubers, their damage reduction feels nonexistent. Probably should have mentioned how much this build just steamrolls over Chaos/Wither Resist rares. One of the biggest positives!
Not really. Original Sin is a fantastic ring, and really fun for creative build design, but the main value it provides is allowing you to do this kind of build with non-chaos, non-poison skills and convert them into this kind of design. Elemental damage tends to scale much higher than Chaos, so you can use a skill like Spark or Lightning Strike, but get it to scale like this. You also don't need to use Despair, since enemy Chaos Res is Zero at all times. Did an Original Sin Poison LS Pathfinder a couple of leagues ago, and it ruled.
