When people learn about salvation by grace, they are very exited about their new freedom and peace with God. However, in their Bible studying, they find certain verses and phrases in Paul's epistles that seem to contradict what they have learned! The truth is, though, that these passages are perfectly aligned with grace doctrine. Find out how and why in this lesson!

He skimmed over righteous and unrighteous. One is NOT righteous if they are not a believer on the name and blood of Jesus. So those verses are not difficult to understand.

"IF" is conditional by its very definition. But this if refers to different issues than our salvation. For example Romans 8,17. Please read carefully what it is about: "And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together." This "if so be that we suffer with him" refers to receiving a specific inheritance with him, the joint-heir inheritance. And that IS conditional. Not every believer will get that before the Judgement Seat of Christ. This is repeated in 2. Timothy 2,12: "If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:" This verse also has to do with reigning with him in the heavenly places ;)

Compare what you've said to the context of the following: Romans 8:16-21 KJV _The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and _*_joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him,_*_ that we may be _*_also glorified together._* Is there any question whether any of the children of God will be left out of glorification? And so then, has any child of God not suffered with Christ? _For I reckon _*_that the sufferings of this present time_*_ are not worthy to be compared with the glory which _*_shall be revealed in us._* Us who? Just a select few of God's children, while the rest aren't suffering? Yet which ones have glory revealed in them? _For the _*_earnest expectation of the creature_*_ waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. For the _*_creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly,_*_ but by reason of him who hath _*_subjected the same in hope,_*_ Because the creature itself also _*_shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption_*_ into the glorious liberty of the children of God._ Who's the creature? Paul defined that in 2Cor. 5:17 and Gal. 6:15. Which creature, after being quickened, justified, sealed with the Holy Spirit, no longer has a vile sinful body to deal with the rest of their physical life? Which creature, after being saved, is no longer subject to vanity (bondage of corruption; Eph 4:22)? Which creature, after being saved, no longer exercises hope for deliverance, for the revealed glory?

If you continue in the faith you'll be saved? That was speaking to the unsaved? Once they got saved they would be continuing in the faith even if they went a million miles from God. Who is saving who end of story jesus. Not by works no boasting it is by faith 🙏 shalom ❤

you said: "If you continue in the faith you'll be saved? That was speaking to the unsaved?" The unsaved think the things of the Spirit of God are foolishness. The unsaved are at enmity against God. The unsaved do not understand or seek after God. The only way a person is saved is if God has mercy and regenerates them (Titus 3:5 kjv).

@user-nd7dy2kv6x I stand corrected. But I felt Paul was giving hope to those not saved and about to be saved. I don't believe we can lose our salvation or the Holy spirit.

@@noelsetterington648 you: "But I felt Paul was giving hope to those not saved and about to be saved." The unsaved have no interest in the things of God - they are at enmity against Him - no exceptions! But many unsaved are 'religious' - and claim to be saved because of a 'choice' they made. No one has ever been saved by a choice they made. God is the one who giveth the increase - not the will of the lost. As Christ through Paul said: "But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4In whom the god of this world hath blinded". Blind men don't see unless God in mercy shines into their heart (2 Cor 4:6 kjv). Religious people are not willing to come to the God of the Bible - so they twist and distort the Scriptures to make salvation contingent upon their choice. Catholics, Mormons, Methodists, KJB Onlyists - to name a few - all claim to be saved and going to heaven because of a 'choice' they made. The elect (in every dispensation) have been illuminated (Heb 10:32 kjv) - which is the means by which they understand, see, and believe. It has been given unto them to believe and suffer (Phil 1:28,29 kjv) - or more accurately it has been 'graced' unto them to believe and suffer. you: "I don't believe we can lose our salvation or the Holy spirit." If the Holy Spirit generated faith in you upon hearing the Word (which is fruit of the Spirit of God - Gal 5:22 kjv) - then you are sealed unto the day of redemption. If you made a 'choice' to believe - then later you could make a choice NOT to believe - happens all the time in our predominately 'Christian' culture. For example - Matt Dillahunty - made a decision to believe - later made a decision not to believe - now fighting against God and His people. That's why the Apostle Paul uses the word "If" - “If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away... Doesn't mean that the Lord in His mercy won't save Matt before he dies - but at the present there is no evidence he was ever regenerated.

The "if" should be translated to "since". This is basic English comprehension that is not taught anymore.
