Whether or not they used chemical weapons has been argued since 1991, but one thing that cannot be argued is the fact that on the second day of the ground war many of the units within the 18th Airborne Corps, including the First Brigade, 24th Infantry Division (Heavy Mech) of which I was in reported their chemical alarms going off and positive test results when using M8 chemical detection paper. I'm talking hundreds of Chemical detection alarms that use a fan to draw in air that runs through an analyzer that sounds an audible alarm tone if chemical weapons are detected. There were also a number of French army units with Fox Chemical Recon vehicles that reported the presence of chemical weapons within the 18th Airborne Corps Area of Operations. All of these alarms detecting chemical weapons, and M8 detector paper positive test results were dismissed outright as malfunctioning equipment and faulty test papers. They said it was diesel fuel causing false positives and setting off alarms. But how believable is that when you consider that our Alarms were the same ones we had been using in training exercises for years, with dozens training exercises in the two prior years that I had been on without ever having one of these alarms sound an alert, but now hundreds of them malfunction on the same day and coincidentally so does the French equipment that is totally different from our own. Top that off with the fact that a huge ammunition depot that was later destroyed by combat engineers with explosive demo charges (It was done in a rush to prevent it's use in the future by Iraqi forces but had to be completed quickly in order to avoid US forces violating the cease fire agreement withdrawal deadline) that was later confirmed to have contained stockpiles of chemical munitions by General Schwartzkoph during testimony before Congress. It is easier for me to believe that Iraqi forces, with a proven known history of using chemical weapons against the Kurds in Northern Iraq and the Iranians during the 10 year long Iran/Iraq war tried to use chemical weapons against Coalition forces that had invaded Iraq, that due to disrupted and destroyed communications abilities along with extremely fast, accurate, and overwhelming counter battery artillery fire the attempts were piecemeal and had no affects on coalition forces in the immediate time frame but small amounts absorbed into our bodies may have had long term affects that are still killing DS/DS veterans today. That is much more plausible than all our equipment malfunctioned simultaneously despite years of use with nobody ever reporting malfunctions previously.

All that adds up and it seems most likely they did use chem/bio weapons to a limited extent. And with nukes being the promised response it seems reasonable to overlook such limited and ineffective use. And say we're gonna pretend we didn't see you being that stupid, cuz otherwise it'll get real ugly.

They wanted them in the event they were taken prisoner and had that surprise MF weapon.

The guy checking me in asked why I was recalled to their squadron and I said, apparently we're going to war I guess. He said no, we just got back from a cruise. 2 hours later they were busy recalling all personnel from leave. Oh, I know which boat carried the nukes. 😉 Obviously they were never used.

It’s amazing to listen to all of these guys tell their stories. I never seen combat, was an infantryman. It’s just cool to listen to them. I’m actually glad I never had to experience combat. Like these old grumbly dudes were once like me. Just living life, training all the time, doing stuff you don’t want to do when you really don’t want to do it. But then they all have that smile on their face, remembering the boys and goofiness of it all. A bunch of kids from all over, in one spot just sucking it up. Looking down the barrel that is potential hell. A profession as old as humanity itself, 2nd only to prostitution. It doesn’t matter what generation it is either, WW2 to Afghanistan, they all got that “I can’t believe that happened” nonchalant attitude. Nothing but my respect. At 3rd Recon we all went to Naval Gunfire school in PI and called in Naval Guns, helicopter gunships, artillery , we would go to Clark AFB and call in Fast movers and laser targets. @@winkiiiie wtf are you talking about of course the recoil matters. If you go to fire a weapon and it takes you off guard because you're not used to the way it kicks there's a good chance you're going to be off target

@@jamesblake5176 you do realize that at4 and 84mm are RECOILLESS rifle 🤣🤣 thats why they have a back blast area. I will throwback your question to you.. what the fuck are YOU talking about 🤣🤣 tracer rounds are used to emulate the ballistic, not the recoil as there is no recoil technically. Stop arguing about stuff you have no experience with Plus plus plus: not knowing the recoil of something makes you MORE accurate as you dont anticipate a recoil and dont flinch the weapon. Literally everything you said is wrong lol classic youtube comment section moment right here

Yeah it was hot as shit, a gallon of water a day, and yanking chains of the gear to get it ready. Then the planes and MMF's started arriving. We stacked the habit trails and started building arming revetments, and bombs peripheral to doing our regular plane fixing jobs until the shooting started. We had bunkers wallpapered with plastic bags because of the NBC threat. Then the planes started hauling ordnance and we were busy with 3 overlapping 12 hour shifts to keep them flying.

We did not see any nukes where I was at since we were on a joint base, but all our planes were carrier capable, and a lot of us had nuclear certificates because we could deploy on carriers. The carriers had to have been carrying nukes, just in case. All the scuds around us were conventional explosive types.
