Hi , love your style great vids , comment on a large detail I just discovered from my dealership and ford Canada . I had my phasers done under my 3 year warranty at 87000 k and now at 134000 k need doing again , ford says there is no warranty now on there original warranty work done 23 months ago even though I got the extended coverage letter and had the reprogram done on time , that’s BS eh ?? Cheers Mike
2017 F-150 - first quote was $6100 second quote was $5400. Truck has 73,000 miles and young but at these prices wow. $3500 is aggressive but way better than what I am seeing. Any recommendations?
Thank You for the informative video. It appears you have found an easier technique to complete a complex repair. Keep up the good videos. Have A Good and Safe Day! 🛻🚚🚛
I was written up for colorful language on company time while filming a video for the shop. Lesson learned. Know I call out " come on Eileen " when I am upset.
This is extremely helpful. im about to do this tomorrow. One question though, are all the phasers the same? or are they different for intake and exhaust?
Question how do you replace the rocker arms on passenger side while head cams still on the truck or if the head been removed how do you pop the rockers off. Im asking for a relative he has a 2014 3.5 EcoBoost f150.
2017 f-150 3.5 1st set of cam phasers done at 50,000miles now at 92,000miles cam phasers rattling loud again at start up 🤦♂️ I hope ford will cover it
Really enjoy your videos. Very informative. I have a 2019 Expedition Limited with the second gen 3.5, that now has 50,000miles on it. No phaser rattle yet. I change the oil and filter every 5000 miles. Is there any preventive measure I can take to avoid this problem? Thanks!
Okay so it’s not something I can do by myself, a person with little to no mechanic background… great! About to purchase a 2017 f-150 platinum and this is my main concern
Idk why you remove the cab , I have done a set of 3.5 phasers in 4.8 hours in dealertrack and I was stopping time everytime I got pulled off of it to do something else , the cab does not need to be removed and you can do these phaser at an average of 5 to 6 hours if your abele to stay on it I assume your flat rate like me and the last videos I’ve seen you make about the phasers you always have the cab off when it’s not necessary I’m not trying to shit on how you do them I’m saying there’s a faster and more efficient way to do them than how you do them
He has a video out that answers the question he is asked the most is why he removes the cab. He said that they got it down to a science and it takes them about 45 minutes to remove a cab. He goes on to explain that it's much easier to work on the engine.
How much does that cam phaser replacement cost on average? My 2018 F150 3.5 had them replaced 35k miles ago under warranty and they are doing it again with only 69k miles on the truck. Can't believe Ford hasn't extended the warranty on these.
What is the correct part number from ford for the new cam phaser? Ford did mine back at 21,000 miles 11-2021 and now at 42,000 they need to be done again. I bet they put the stock back on to get me to come back for it again thankfully I have esp so it’s only $100
I would like to know if the cam phasers are the same or different 2.7 and the 3.5 . And why do the 3.5 fail more often? I cannot get an accurate answer..
How do you know if you can just replace the one phaser and not all of it? I coding for bank A on my 2012. If I can get away with replacing that side and not the chain and tensioners, I’ll be happy.
I have an 18 raptor with 52k miles with phasers throughing code. I live in warrior and have many options where to take it for service . Do you have one you would recommend above others ?
Over time it can do damage to your engine. There is a method of pre priming the oil pressure by holding the gas and break down while cranking for 3-5 seconds and it shouldn’t make the sound. This is information I’ve found on YT doing research for myself
My ‘19 Raptor with 129k just started to “chatter” on cold start, it’s getting louder and in the last couple of days my check engine light is staying on. Is their any out of warranty relief from ford, or am I screwed? Also, where are you located and what do charge for the r&r?
I was SOL and you will be too. It’s all customer pay. I had the timing chain done given my odometer (and since they were already in there). Waited months for those parts 🤦♀️
Hey, since you see all these trucks come in… if you were to buy a 2023 or 2024 f150 would you pick the 3.5 EB or 5.0 based on reliability and problems? Thanks
In previous videos starting with the 21 I think has the new style phasers referenced in the video. it doesn't matter what you pick as long as you change your oil every 5K or so.
It doesn’t matter they both have phaser issues. What nobody on RU-vid is telling you. Idling is having a big effect of these failing. Remember these rely on oil that’s coming from 3 feet away down in a small hole. No matter what ALL phasers will fail over time. Some at 30k and some at 150. I’m on my 3rd set of phasers. Under 100k miles.
Hey just found your videos i know you get paid for what you do but man I would appreciate if could get a little bit of a advice what makes an 05 go through 1&2 and going into drive it's like it just knock it self out of gear but rpm fall back down it's in 2 some one said it was the TPS did not fix it but thanks 👍🙏
@@smacnee3278 We have 12 and not 1 of them is over 50miles over half are under 40k miles and every single one but 2 currently have the dash board lit up and running terrible that’s a fact if you have 1 good one that’s great but our other 10 supersedes your argument they are trash
Is it absolutely"necessary to remove the cab for this repair? I'm thinking about doing it at home since the previous owner of my truck didn't do the necessary steps (ECU reflash) to get this covered under warranty. Obviously it would be easier to access, but at home I don't want to take off the cab. At the dealer, they'd probably destroy the couple of wire harnesses I've ran from the cab through the floor into the engine bay. Thoughts?
